[drakelist] FS. new main tuning knobs have arrived!
Make your radio restoration complete with the ORIGINAL NEW MAIN TUNING KNOB with the spun insert factory installed! This original knob is better than ever. It has a 1/4 "brass insert and Allen set screw instead of the older 1/4 " plastic shaft hole. The Phenolic is black and shiny. They really look GREAT! After 40 years of waiting, I finally have them on my "B" Line twins and on my TR4. 73's from Al..kc9ys...please view the jpeg attached. <>

Garey Barrell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- They actually look even better than the picture! I have a pair on my B-Line, (thanks Al) and you don't realize how grungy your "nice" old knobs look until you put these on. This is the knob that we all bought from Drake for our R-4's and R-4A's when the B-Line came out, and why you hardly ever see an earlier unit with the original style knob on it. 73, Garey - K4OAH Glen Allen, VA Drake 2-B, 4-B, C-Line & TR-4/C Service Supplement CDs ALAN PHILLIPS wrote: Make your radio restoration complete with the ORIGINAL NEW MAIN TUNING KNOB with the spun insert factory installed! [drakelist] Parting out radios
Folks, it looks as though you can part out a TR7 and get more money for the parts (looks like almost double) than if you simply fixed the radio and sold it. (I'm talking about the various parts for sale on epay.) But I must also say the prices seem to be going up for ANY TR7, working or not. AND, the accessories are almost out of sight. (in my opinion) I suppose its basic supply and demand. For me, I'm emotionally attached to mine! PS, could'nt hear any of the Ohio guys this afternoon on the net. Been that way for several weeks now. We should be getting close to the upside of the cycle and we will all be having a lot more fun with radios. Oh.Hope everyone had fun at Dayton. David wd9cmd

[EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Isn't that the truth. Each "side" of the argument has its pros and cons...it's nice to be able to find all of the parts one needs to restore an incomplete or cosmetically imperfect set, but if the "fix" is simple then why part the donor rig out in the first place? And who would have ever imagined a CW75 fetching north of $350? Either the shills are hard at work or there are some "collectors" out there who are willing to pay ANY price to say "I won!" I don't suppose anyone on this list has a good R7 front panel they would be willing to part with? I got hold of a receiver which might be classified as a parts donor by some...yet with a little cosmetic TLC and some time spent with a soldering iron, I think I can bring this one "back". Would rather see it on the air than on the 'Bay... [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Agreed. I've even gone so far as to perform surgery on an R7's 3rd IF transformer in order to repair its parent board. Even the ECL stuff used on the DR7 can be sourced -IF- one looks around. On a somewhat related note: Just watched two used SL-series filters go for $25 and $5 more than their new Inrad replacements...go figure... -- Submissions:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net --

Re: [drakelist] Parting out radios
Jim Gerke <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- So, can anyone explain just why some folk think the online auction service is a dirty word? If they don't like that operation, fine. They certainly shouldn't do anything to try to force their viewpoint on the rest of us, however. Maybe they are just jealous of eBay sellers' success. IMO, it's a great way to sell ham gear. You generally get a lot more for your stuff there than at a hamfest where the cheap hams shopping the flea market think you should give away your equipment. If you're looking for a new radio, you can get more selling your old one on eBay than as a trade-in at a dealer. The online service is always open so you don't have to wait weeks or months 'til the next hamfest. With the online service you don't have to worry about the tire-kickers getting their hamburger grease or nacho cheese sauce enhanced fingerprints all over what you're trying to sell, spilling their coffee in it, or a couple of them parking themselves in front of your table, blocking everyone else's view of your equipment, while they shoot the bull with each other. For selling my gear, I'll take eBay over a hamfest any day. 73, Jim K5JG Garey Barrell wrote: Garey Barrell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Well, for one thing actually typing that "word" out on a few reflectors will get you removed with no warning.
