So, can anyone explain just why some folk think the online auction service is a dirty word? If they don't like that operation, fine. They certainly shouldn't do anything to try to force their viewpoint on the rest of us, however. Maybe they are just jealous of eBay sellers' success.

IMO, it's a great way to sell ham gear. You generally get a lot more for your stuff there than at a hamfest where the cheap hams shopping the flea market think you should give away your equipment. If you're looking for a new radio, you can get more selling your old one on eBay than as a trade-in at a dealer. The online service is always open so you don't have to wait weeks or months 'til the next hamfest. With the online service you don't have to worry about the tire-kickers getting their hamburger grease or nacho cheese sauce enhanced fingerprints all over what you're trying to sell, spilling their coffee in it, or a couple of them parking themselves in front of your table, blocking everyone else's view of your equipment, while they shoot the bull with each other. For selling my gear, I'll take eBay over a hamfest any day.

Well, for one thing actually typing that "word" out on a few reflectors will get you removed with no warning. This doesn't happen to be one of them, but...

Some people are _VERY_ sensitive about that, silly as it may seem.....

You guys sound like the characters from the Harry Potter series of books and movies who are afraid to say the bad guys name. Its ok, go ahead, say it. Its "ebay." There. That wasn't so bad.
