Re: [drakelist] odd idea
I did not even get into the data part. I have added a data line switch on the front panel, so no matter which radio I'm switched to, when I throw the switch, I change from the D-104 input to the data line input (AFSK) for RTTY or PKS. Works pretty good. On the speaker. I never implemented the speaker into the switch box. I run a separate MS-4 on each radio, so they always have a load. I would suspect if someone got inventive, they could put an 8 ohm load across the unused speaker outputs from the extra pins on switch. Re: [drakelist] Drake net
Mark Gilger [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterence to the drakelist gang -- I think there used to be a 20 meter net some years ago. It would be interesting to know why it disbanded? Was there a lack of participation, or what? Anyone know? I would think there would be a lot of interest, since a good majority of the US is left out of the current 40 and 80 meter nets. The questions would be (1) What freq. on 20 meters? (2) When? (Probably Saturday afternoon would work best, although it would be nice to have a weekday net , but then we are back to having it on 40 or 80 due to propagation during the winter months) (3) Who would volunteer to run it? Or maybe we don't need a person, but just have a Group meeting? Regards, Mark, WB0IQK At 05:48 AM 10/05/04, Thom R. Lacosta wrote: Thom R. Re: [drakelist] Blue filter gel (C-line)
http://www.wb4hfn.com/DrakeArticles/TechTips/DrakeResources.htm Information on replacements can be found above. Mark, WB0IQK At 11:08 AM 2/27/04, Garey Barrell wrote: David - Lee Lighting (a theater lighting supply house) offers their number 172 gel which is an exact color match to the original Drake filter. It too is thinner than the Drake stuff, but you have the white diffusion filter to support it. A 20 x 30 sheet was about $6 a year ago. The white filter also probably needs to be replaced. The originals tend to yellow after a while, giving the dial a green cast. The hardware store For Sale c plastic signs have plenty of white space on them and most of them are made of a material very similar to the original Drake filter. Replacing the #47 bulbs with #755 bulbs gives approximately five times the expected life. They have slightly less light output, and don't fade/yellow the filters as fast. Some have replaced the bulbs with LEDs, but I haven't seen a good color match yet, and they tend to hot spot (bright spot in the center) the dial. 73, Garey - K4OAH Atlanta David Austin wrote: Just trying to get hold of some new filter gel for the displays on my C-line. Does anyone know of a source of the original Roscolene #853, or if not, the nearest equivalent gel in one of Rosco's (or other manufacturer's) current range? Rosco tell me that there is no direct equivalent, but someone else may know of a satisfactory match? [drakelist] NEW DRAKE FRONT PANELS
I've been in communications with Dale, AA7XX to try and make some new front panels up for our drake equipment. Dales email address is below. [EMAIL PROTECTED] He's trying to determine what the need is and if it is economically viable. At this point, could anyone that has a need for a replacement or spares please contact Dale directly and let him know what model and how many you might needs. This is not for firm orders, but just to give him an idea of the viability of this venture. If anyone is not aware, Dale has produced replacement MS-4 speaker labels that are as close to original as possible. I doubt if anyone could tell the copy from the original. We are hoping for something like this in front panels. Please email Dale direct. Thanks. Mark, WB0IQK
Re: [drakelist] Drake on AM--THANKS
Remember when running the t4X with R4? that the carrier will be offset about 1kc or more. I find it best to go split and use a freq. counter sniffing the coax line and set the T4X output to match the exact freq. If you don't some guys will complain about the quality of the signal and that's strictly because it's off freq. Regards, Mark, WB0IQK At 09:22 AM 11/21/03, Bill Todd wrote: Hi Alan! I didn't know you were on this email list. Fancy meeting you here. I have a Drake T4x transmitter that I am hankering to pull down from the shelf and try it on AM too. Once I get it set up, maybe you and I could try to hook up some time on 75 meters. Most of the PNW AMers meet on 3.870, and start getting on the air about 2 or 3 PM daily. Let me know if you want to set up a schedule some time. If the T4X doesn't quite work right, I can always use my TR-7 on AM which is my standard rig right now. CUL. Re: [drakelist] W4 peak reading
