[Dspace-tech] collection to sub community

2011-12-06 Thread Khan, Baseer

Hello Team,
We are in process of moving a collection to a new sub community, the question I
want to ask is:
Is there a way to change/move an exsisting collection into a new sub commnity
in dspace?
I tried using community filiator command which did not work for me, is there
any other way best practised way to do this.

Thank you,
Baseer.

[Dspace-tech] Dspace statistics missing after running the scripts

2011-01-10 Thread Khan, Baseer
Hello List,
Recently we have upgraded our Dspace instance from 1.4.2 to 1.6.2,
The statistics were showing up until August 2010, this was the last time we ran
the stat in the bin.
To update this I ran the stat from the bin and they did run fine without error,
But when I login to check the results it only shows the statistics after the
upgrade was done which is for Dec 2010 and Jan 2011,
Did we loose the old numbers or there is something we missed to do while doing
the upgrade.
And when updating from 1.4.2 to 1.5 we did copy

cp [dspace-source]/dspace/bin/stat* [dspace]/bin/

And followed all the steps for the upgrade.

Thank you,
Baseer.

So I just have to add the lines in xslt file,
Did you come across any issue while implementing this?

Hi,

We have a Facebook "like" button on our items (still in dev, but getting ready
to be rolled out -- if you try the link below and it's down, it might be
because we are rebuilding... try again in a few minutes); users can click and
the "like" will show up on their facebook wall. You can see it at:

http://dev.datadryad.org/handle/10255/dryad.1914 (click 'share' under the
citation at the top of the page and facebook's "like", among other social
software options, will appear).

Adding it was a matter of putting Facebook's iframe markup in our item view
XSLT [we use xmlui, 1.6.2] and supplying a place we'd like it to link to (our
DOI):

http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=',
encoder:encode(concat('http://dx.doi.org/',
$pkgDOI)),

'&layout=button_count&show_faces=false&width=100&action=like&colorscheme=light&height=21')"
/>

Yes it is. See below. Just modfiy your "dspace.cfg" file.
 >>>>
# Settings for content count/strength information

# whether to display collection and community strengths # (This configuration
is not used by XMLUI. To show strengths in the # XMLUI, you just need to
create a theme which displays them) webui.strengths.show = true

# if showing the strengths, should they be counted in real time or # fetched
from cache? NOTE: To improve scaling/performance, # the XMLUI only makes
strengths available to themes if they are CACHED!
#
# Counts fetched in real time will perform an actual count of the # database
contents every time a page with this feature is requested, # which will not
scale. If the below setting is to use the cache, you # must run the following
command periodically to update the count:
#
# [dspace]/bin/itemcounter
#
# The default is to count in real time
#
webui.strengths.cache = true

Hi Baseer,

When you say "harvesting", are you looking to copy the contents of a
community/collection in one DSpace instance to another DSpace instance? Export
them to your workstation or another server?

Collections and communities in DSpace are mapped to OAI sets by default -- if
you visit http://yoursite/oai/request/verb=ListSets you should see them listed.
Any complaint OAI-PMH (or OAI-ORE if you've enabled it) harvester should be
able to work with those sets, (or the repository as a whole, if you like).

Manual pages for OAI-PMH interface and OAI harvester:
http://www.dspace.org/1_6_0Documentation/ch05.html#N14955
An OAI-PMH tutorial, in case you are not familiar with the specification:

Hello ,
I have tested the dsrun command on my production server , I am using Dspace

This is command which I executed from /dspace/bin and the output was following

./dsrun org.dspace.app.itemimport.ItemImport -a -e susan...@gmail.com -c

Destination collections:
Owning Collection: Waconda Lake
Adding items from directory: /mnt/usbflash/CEE_THESES/CEE_THESES_1
Generating mapfile: mapfileCEE_THESES_1

The strange thing I noticed here was it was creating a file in /dspace/bin and
the file size is 0.
Is there any other thing I need to do after mapfile .
Should the mapfile command follow the name of the collection where the file is
being loaded or the name of the file .

Thank you,
Baseer.

Subject: Re: [Dspace-tech] Bulk-import-data

Hi Baseer,

Are you using 1.5.2? If so, this looks it might be related to creating the
map file.

 - What command are you using to run the importer?
 - Is any other output displayed? E.g. Generating mapfile: XYZ

Thanks,

Re: [Dspace-tech] Bulk-import-data

2009-08-31 Thread Khan, Baseer
Hello ,

I am using Dspace 1.4.2 and Google Summer code 2008 ,
I have cleared the error , and looks like it is trying to upload file , but I
am not sure where it is uploading .
Can you tell me how to choose the handle where I want to upload these files ?
Second thing do you think as I am doing it on test server which does not have
handle configured on it so the command dsrun is unable to upload the files.
I have to upload the files to this collection so can you write the command for
it ,

http://soar.wichita.edu/dspace/handle/10057/2082

This is the command I am using to upload the files

./dsrun org.dspace.app.itemimport.ItemImport -a -e
odza...@yahoo.com -c 10057/2082 -s C:\CEE_THESES -m
mapfileCEE_Theses

Thank you,
Baseer.

Hi,

I completed the Unix installation instructions for Dspace (section 3.2.3 in
http://www.dspace.org/1_5_1Documentation/ch03.html#N105CA) successfully
until step 5.

For step 6, I changed directory to [dspace source]/dspace and typed

mvn package

The build failed with the following error messages:

---

[INFO] [compiler:compile]

[INFO] Compiling 63 source files to /
usr/local/dspace-1.5.1-src-release/dspace-xmlui/dspace-xmlui-wing/target/cla

[ERROR] BUILD FAILURE

[INFO] Compilation Failure

[INFO] Failure executing javac, but could not parse the error:

[INFO] javac: directory not found:
/usr/local/dspace-1.5.1-src-release/dspace-xmlui/dspace-xmlui-wing/target/cl
asses

Has anyone had similar problem or can provide some insight into what might
be causing this error?

Thanks,

deb

I looked through the website of University of Minho (
https://repositorium.sdum.uminho.pt/) and they are using Dspace version
1.5.1. They do have the statistics add-on module implemented on the DSpace
version 1.5.1 (
https://repositorium.sdum.uminho.pt/stats?level=general&type=access&page=downviews-series).

Also, the DSpace newsletter of September 2008 says that "*There are two
significant changes in 1.5.1: (1) Both the JSPUI and XMLUI (Manakin)
interfaces are compatible with the Minho statistics package for data
capture. When using XMLUI, a
JSPUIwill be needed
to view the stats."
* (
http://www.dspace.org/index.php/DSpace-Newsletter/NewSpace-September-2008.html
)

These facts made me hope that the latest version of University of Minho
statistics 2.0 is perhaps compatible with DSpace version 1.5.1. However, I
have not been able to install it yet because their documentation is not
according to DSpace 1.5.1.

Anyone has more information about this?
