Hi Serbe,
If you're using DSpace version 1.5.x as it seems you will need to edit the
Messages_es.properties file under
the dspace-src/dspace/modules/jspui/src/main/resources/
For the three items on the left of your site you will need to add the
following lines

browse.menu.subject  = Materia
browse.menu.author   = Autor
browse.menu.dateissued   = Fecha Publicaci\u00F3n
browse.menu.title= T\u00EDtulo

Remember to use the UTF-8 code for latin characters.
You can also search at
http://wiki.dspace.org/index.php/I18nSupport#DSpace_1.5.2 for updated
translations
and if you want further details about how to accomplish the translations
tasks (In case you want to use the word most commonly used at your country)
please refer to this How to
http://wiki.dspace.org/index.php/Fix_%3F%3F%3Fsome.key.name%3F%3F%3F_(JSP)

By the way, I want to ask to the community if someone is doing the
translation to Spanish for the Dspace version 1.5.2.

Hope this helps

[Dspace-tech] Dspace results table not showing all titles

2009-04-19 Thread Ricardo Beltrán
Hello everybody,
I've noticed while using the advanced search within items that have
multiple titles
the search engine shows the items that matched any of the titles but
displays only the first item's title which is
not always the title where the match was found.
This is a bit annoying since it seems like an incorrect match is being
displayed until the user click on the title link
and discover that the match was found on an alternative title.
Is there any configuration to change this behavior and change the results
table to show the correct title
or at least a concatenation of all the titles.

Best regards
Ricardo Beltran

[Dspace-tech] Item bitstreams reversed during upgrade

2009-04-19 Thread Ricardo Beltrán
Hello DSpace Community,
I'm upgrading from version 1.3.2 to 1.5.2, one of new features that I've
found is that
the bitstreams are showed in reverse order, batch ingesting bitstreams for
version 1.3.2
were showed at the Item page reversed that means that the first bitstream
ingested was displayed at the bottom.
In the other hand for version 1.5.2 first bitstream ingested is displayed at
the top.
 Of course I prefer the 1.5.2 way since it is more natural but the problem
is that the bitstreams at my previous installation
were deliberated ingested using an specific order and it is required to
keep this order after upgrade,
since I do not want to change the actual DSpace behavior nor the JSP pages
and I do not want to reingest
Would someone point me out which tables and columns at the DSpace database
should be modified
in order to reverse the bitstreams.

Thanks in advance

[Dspace-tech] LDAP Single Sign On-Single Sign out

2009-04-19 Thread Ricardo Beltrán
Hello everybody,
I'm trying to have unified authentication with a Drupal site and the DSpace
platform,
Single sign on - Single sign out is a requirement, in your experience
is it possible to use LDAP to achieve this goal? If not which authetication
platform
do you recommend.

Thanks a lot

Hi, you just need to create the Message_es.properties file based on the
Message.properties
and make some changes to the dspace.cfg file.
Please check the current status of translations at

http://wiki.dspace.org/index.php/I18nSupport

and also check this manual page for further instructions

Hope this helps

[Dspace-tech] Weird behavior while translating metadata labels

2009-07-03 Thread Ricardo Beltrán
Hello all,
I'm upgrading to DSpace 1.5.2 and I've installed a bilingual
(English/Spanish) instance. I've just added the language
switcher to the header.jsp in order to let the user switch languages at any
time. Everything works fine with the exception
of metadata labels at the item view (see for example
http://biiacs2.cide.edu/handle/10089/3502) .
If you click the English/Spanish language switcher everything will
translated but not the metadata labels, with the
unique exception of the Date/Fecha label.
I've reviewed many times the Messages.properties and Messages_es.properties
files and I just can't see
an error.

Thanks for your help

Re: [Dspace-tech] Weird behavior while translating metadata labels

2009-07-08 Thread Ricardo Beltrán
Hi Claudia,
Thanks for your response but I haven't been able to correctly set up the
labels I have
Messages_es.properties and Messages.properties at the
[dspace-source]/dspace/modules/jspui/src/main/resources directory
after redeploy I've just double checked and both files are present at the
/dspace/webapps/jspui/WEB-INF/classes directory.
In the Messages_es.properties file the labels appear as you said at the end
of the file:

#BIIACS  translations

metadata.dc.title = T\u00EDtulo
#metadata.dc.contributor.* = Autor
metadata.dc.contributor.author = Autor
metadata.dc.coverage.* = Alcance
metadata.dc.identifier = Identificador
metadata.dc.identifier.govdoc = Identificador
metadata.dc.subject.* = Tema
metadata.dc.date.issued = Fecha
metadata.dc.date.completion = Fecha
metadata.dc.rights.* = Licencia de uso
metadata.dc.type.* = Tipos de archivos
metadata.dc.identifier.citation = Cita
metadata.dc.description.abstract = Resumen
metadata.dc.relation = Relaci\u00F3n

The weird stuff is that everything is being translated correct with the
exception of the item labels. Another two things
that I just can't understand is first why just the Date/Fecha labels which
correspond to the dc.date.issued dublincore field
was translated. The second is why the site was translated to French if I
didn't provided any translation
and I didn't find any file with French words on it at my system. Where are
those language packs located?

If I just change the name of the files like this
mv Messages.properties Messages_es.properties
mv Messages_es.properties Messages.properties

The problem is inverted and and the Spanish translation work as expected
while the English version does not.
I'm pretty sure this should be a silly error but I just can't discover
what's happening.

[Dspace-tech] DSpace How to guide

2009-02-09 Thread Ricardo Beltrán
Hi everybody,
I just want to know if someone is working on the upgrade for the
manual named "DSpace how-to guide: tips and tricks for managing common
DSpace chores"
to the 1.5.1 version of DSpace, or if there is a replacement for this
manual or some wiki pages over there that will serve as a replacement
for this manual.
As far as I've seen the latest version documented is the version 1.4.2

[Dspace-tech] Multiple languages at DSpace Communities and Collections

2009-02-22 Thread Ricardo Beltrán
Dear DSpace community,
Is it possible to support multiple languages at Communities and Collection
level?
It seems that the text that appears at this pages are stored at the database
and thus are not properly externalized for the i18n module.
Is that correct?

[Dspace-tech] Submit exception

2007-03-26 Thread Ricardo Beltrán
Hi guys,
I had problems while trying to submit items to DSpace through the Web
interface, my system is using the following packages

Debian Sage
PostreSQL
Tomcat 5.5 (I've used the debian and the standalone package from apache)
DSpace 1.3.2

I've found not reported bugs about this issue.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Re: [Dspace-tech] Submit exception

2007-03-27 Thread Ricardo Beltrán
Hi,
I've finally solve this issue it was my fault because my collection the
submitters group in that collection
did not have authorization to ADD in the collection.

I think that the permission and authorization options is the most
complex part at DSpace and I haven´t
found good docs or example about particular implementation about this.

Do you happen to know about some good docs and examples of the
Authorization task in DSpace?

Best regards.
