2012-03-16 Thread Rahul Soni
I am delighted to inform here that problems are solved earlier mentioned in
this thread of mail. I was installing the Dspace on two different systems
parallely and when I tried to copy webapps in tomcat/webapps directory on
the second system then luckily it worked. I am really thankful to everyone
on this forum who have help me a lot.

Sir, I have followed your instructions and deployed the webapps by
copying them through method one of the step 9 given in the web link. This
has succeeded somewhat but I am getting other types of error. When I am
clicking on the registration or forgot password token links then I am
getting a new web-page opened in a new tab which shows a set of errors. I
have attached the copy of those web pages with this mail, please look into
 that.

The url that opens while clicking the token link in mail is somewhat like

2) I don't know what you did, but you didn't follow the steps I wrote

The only thing you need to do on the DSpace side is change these
 properties in dspace.cfg:
 dspace.hostname = example.com
 dspace.baseUrl = http://example.com/xmlui
 dspace.url = ${dspace.baseUrl}

 and restart Tomcat.
Also make sure you're running DSpace on port 80 using one of these
 methods:
 https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DspaceOnStandardPorts

 Then you need to
 1) get a public IP address for your machine
 2) add a DNS record pointing to that address
but these steps have nothing to do with DSpace. You can usually ask
you ISP for help (probably your university IT department).

 Sir,

I regret for directly writing to you. I have followed the steps written by
you and now DSpace is working fine and we are able to open it from other
computers. The access url for the same is http://172.16.68.12:8080/jspui/

Rest of the things are working fine sir expect the user registration
feature. I this regard I may request your help.

Send the content of these configuration properties: dspace.hostname,
dspace.baseUrl, dspace.url
And write what steps you exactly made. You still have a private IP,
not a public one.

Regarding user registration, you don't have mail sending set up
correctly. Make sure:
1) that in dspace.cfg you have mail.server.* options set up properly,
especially mail.server
2) that you're actually able to send email from the machine where
dspace runs, e.g. using:
echo test | mail -s test subject ra...@ismu.ac.in

 Thanks sir, it worked.

But there is a new trouble:
While registering a new user it sends a mail to the user email-id and while
clicking on the url it shows:

 HTTP Status 404 - /xmlui/register

 type Status report

 message /xmlui/register

description The requested resource (/xmlui/register) is not available.

 Apache Tomcat/7.0.26

Similar is the case with forgot password assistance.

 Thanking you

Again, you need to CC dspace-tech. I don't know the answer.

I noticed you're using Tomcat 7. I don't know how well-tested DSpace
is on Tomcat 7 (one of the developers might provide up-to-date info)
but I would personally use Tomcat 6 at this time.

This may or may not be relevant to your issue.
