If F2YS does not work, try JA1NUT--he confirmed my QSO's in September 1990.

Precisely. If the program can figure out from the Country file which
entity a given call is based on date, I'm not sure I understand why
it can't be made to figure out whether a CW QSO is eligible for DXCC
credit by just checking the date. I use precisely the workaround
Kostas suggests now, and it's a real pain to keep getting those nice
DXCC Summary reports that are completely accurate EXCEPT for CW. I've
got lots of old CW QSOs in my log going back to around 1965, and some
of them have already been credited for Mixed by ARRL. It's extremely
awkward to have to filter the log every time I check my master DXCC
status spreadsheet against my DX4WIN log.

Re: [Dx4win] Wish list

2009-03-19 Thread Mel Martin
Check again... you should see this order: CW, SSB, RTTY, ASCI, ATV, and
so on.

I still think inactive modes should not appear at all... generally D4W
is very good at data entry in off-line mode without using the mouse if
you set up the "disable fields" which just disables tabs to that field
... but if I enter an SSB contact followed by a CW
contact I have to hit the C twice when Mode has the focus to step
through Clover. Not a big deal... just untidy...

I didn't knew how dxcc rules are. I thought that qsos on cw earlier than
1975 couldn't count at all... Strange rules... Anyway Paul will fix it for
sure... It is difficult even for a computer to keep all these rules... For
example lotw confirmations must count only for dxcc and was and not for waz,
wpx, etc. Add the complexity with E-qsl (if Paul adds something like this)
and cq awards (eqsl counts for cq awards but not for arrl) and nothing of
them counts for iota... Brrr i don't want to be in Paul's seat...

Re: [Dx4win] Ignore mode in real time/changes/bug

2009-03-19 Thread Jack Shirley
It could be fixed by resetting the ignore mode when you exit either mmtty or
psk31. This would be logical. Yes its very annoying because the mode
thereafter is picked up by dx spots which explains why I log the wrong mode
sometimes. Maybe a warning flag too??
I'm going to solve the problem by using mmtty and its logging feature and
winwarbler, dxlabs, for psk31/63 which works better for me anyway on these
digital modes.

As far as I'm concerned that part of the program is broken.( mmtty & psk )

I had forgotten about this... and I must agree that I'm surprised it
hasn't been addressed yet.

Re: [Dx4win] pre-1975 cw qsos

2009-03-19 Thread Mel Martin
This doesn't address the fact that a CW contact prior to 1975 does count
for the mixed award but not for the CW award... you can't just eliminate
the QSO from the count... so you have to do it twice, without the filter
for Mixed and with the filter for CW. Perhaps this is what you were
suggesting Kostas... it's hard to explain in English even for an
Englishman ;-)

Re: [Dx4win] Wish list

2009-03-19 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Note that PSK31 is the correct mode, PSK isn't even an ADIF mode and the
QSO will be kicked out if you try to sign the log for LoTW.

[Dx4win] pre-1975 cw qsos

2009-03-19 Thread Kostas SV1DPI
I think a solultion for your problem would be as follows.
Search for cw qsos previous of 1975 (f8).
Make them another group from the default 0, for example group 75 for these
qsos (qso window>multiple qsos>set group).
Make a selection with group filter to choose only 0. DXCC tracking will be
only for cw qsos after 1975 and for all possible ssb, etc qsos.
I have not tried this but must be work

Re: [Dx4win] Wish list

2009-03-19 Thread Mel Martin
Make sure that the mode field is enabled. just hit S to select SSB and C
once or twice to select CW (Clover also starts with C). You work PSK and
RTTY from the mobile? In any case R selects RTTY... P selects lots of
stuff... but if the inactive modes were removed from the dropdown the
situation would be improved... not many using Clover for example.
