[Dx4win] DX4Win , Win Keyer with a K3------ settings?

2012-08-14 Thread Bill Barr, N4NX
I am trying to use a Winkeyer in conjunction with a K3 DX4Win. I have
assigned the win keyer to a separate USB port and it works fine as a stand
alone keyer. but as soon as I bring the K3 into play by using a RS-232c to USB
interface cable the K3 goes into a key down position. I used device manager
and know exacxtly what USB ports are assigned to both the Winkeyer and the K3.
Anyone offer any setting information or am I just doing something dumb?

Re: [Dx4win] Call Sign Lookup (F3) EXT Data .

2011-11-10 Thread Bill Barr, N4NX
I thought Paul was going to have to do an update before it would work
properely??? Many of us asked for that over 3 months ago ( actually we
asked Paul to implement XML for paid subscribers of QRZ.COM ).
To my knowledge nothing has been done!? As far as using the F3 key you must
hit the ENTER key after the F3 window pops up with the call shown. The
program will then open QRZ.com to that call.

 Hello All:

Many thanks to Kostas SV1DPI the fix has been provided.

He recommended changing both lookup strings to the following: *
 HTTP://WWW.QRZ.COM/db/*

This works! Make sure that no other data sources are selected in Data
 source parameters.

*Many thanks to Kostas Stamatis, SV1DPI*

[Dx4win] Please implement XML lookup in DX4WIN

2011-06-21 Thread Bill Barr, N4NX
Paul,

I am a long time paid user of DX4win and this is my first request to you!

Please implement XML lookup for paid subscribers ( QRZ ) ASAP.

One of the things you should be most proud of is the outstanding support you
get from AD1C and others. It certainly has been one of the reasons I continue
to use and Support DX4win.

This is a quote from one of Jim's AD1Cs recent reflector posts:

Maybe more incentive for Paul to implement XML lookup for paid subscribers:

http://forums.qrz.com/showthread.php?301425-QRZ-Callsign-Database-Policy-Change

Here is another from another one of your great technical supporters:

I am not a subscriber to qrz xml but if Paul adds this i 'll subscribe for
sure. It is nice to have...
Kostas sv1dpi

I think all of the better logging programs already have or will make this
improvement. So why wouldn't DX4WIN a World Class software package do the
same?

I hope others agree?

[Dx4win] Label printing question

2011-03-09 Thread Bill Barr, N4NX
I Notice that a lot of QSL managers use DX4win to print labels for outgoing
QSLs--I do for PJ6A. Many of their labels are formatted as follows:

XV2A confirms QSO [s] with N4NX

I haven't seen or read how you modify the Call Sign top line to look like that.
 Can anyone help?

[Dx4win] IOTA report

2011-03-09 Thread Bill Barr, N4NX
This is my day for questions. Hope I can get by with two today.

In a previous version of DX4win I know that I used to get an IOTA report
option that would display ( Print) a list of confirmed or worked IOTAs with
the station call, band, etc. If I had the IOTA worked to multiple calls it
would just pick only one to call to display. I guess it might have picked the
first time it was worked. Am I dreaming? If not how can that be done with the
current version?

Thanks

Re: [Dx4win] Lost packet window FOUND! See solution!

2010-02-07 Thread Bill Barr, N4NX
You guys are great and I think many of your answers were pointing in the
correct direction.

The answer from Kostas ( see below ) rang the bell!! I use dual monitors
and DX4WIN is always displayed in the same position on just one of the two
monitors. To make this happen I had gone to FilePreferencesScreen and
checked Leave all windows in original position. This works great and is
really a function I want; however, I must have somehow gotten the packet
window completely off the screen and of course it was destined to stay there
as long as the box was checked and saved. I did what Kostas said and
unchecked box, saved and restarted DX4WIN--and low and behold up popped the
missing packet window! I highly recommend the Leave all windows in
original position function if you get the windows where you like them, BUT
if you want to change those positions or in my case find a missing
window--don't forget to uncheck the box and reposition the layout.

Again thanks to ALL and a special thanks to Kostas. You Da Man!

 Hello Bill
first of all go to filepreferencespacket1 tab to see if you have chosen
 type=regular and COM port=tcp/ip
 if not choose it
if yes, your packet window is somewhere outside your screen. You must play
with Leave all windows in original position in screen tab (uncheck,
 save,
check, etc. until you see the packet window).

I have released version 4.5 of ADIF to DX4WIN, you can get it here:

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/adif2dxq/

Here are the release notes:

Ver 4.5 - 21 January 2009
Added NM QSO Party
Added Win-Test support for ARRL RTTY Round-Up and NAQP

Thanks to Bill N4NX for motivating me to add some Win-Test support.
If you want a Win-Test log converted and this program doesn't work as
expected, *please* send me the ADIF file.

If you find any problems in the program or documentation, let me know.
If you need a conversion added, send me your ADIF file and tell me
what contest it is for, and which logging program produced it.

[Dx4win] Problem with adif to dx4win conversion

2010-01-20 Thread Bill Barr, N4NX
Ok, what did I do wrong?

I downloaded Jim's latest conversion tool and tested it on a previous contest (
ARRL RTTY ROUNDUP 2010 ). My Contest logging software is WinTEST. My current
version of DX4win is 8.03 ( Although I think I might have a problem with it
since I can't seem to access packet ).

1. I moved my contest adif file to the save folder under 8.03.

2. I started the conversion tool. and told it to use the format of DX4WIN6 (
even though I am running dx4win version 8 ) . Jim's instructions say to use
DX4WIN6 when importing?

3. The window in the conversion tool indicated that all my QSOs were written,
but it also listed every QSO in the log with a notation is missing received
data

3. I confirmed that the tool did create a .dxq file under the same save folder.

4. I then did an import into dx4win using the import/filters ID of DX4WIN6 (
Again per instructions ) I used overwrite current QSOs because I had
previously loaded this file into DX4WIn ( You might ask why I would do
this---The answer is because the original import did not populate the state
column, it only populated the received column with the state. )

5. The import result was that indeed it completed the import and the only
issue is now neither the state column or the received column is populated (
Hence the original error message is missing received data. The note column
was populated with the note I had entered into the conversion tool.

What am I missing. Any help appreciated.
