Anyone able to advise on this. In the calendar year 2014, I would like to start from scratch and keep a running total of DXCC entities worked but I want to do so from WITHIN MY EXISTING DX4WIN log, NOT by running a separate log. When connected to the cluster I want to be alerted to new countries - not per band - but separately by mode on either CW, data or SSB. Is that possible? An exception has occurred Received that notice this morning, with access violation at address 'blah-blah-blah' in module dx4win.exe. I am unable to open any DX4WIN log files. Using latest 8.05 (and also AD1C's fine updater). Win 7 PC. I guess (?) the basic dx4win.exe file must have somehow corrupted, would downloading and running a new dx4win.exe file from the web site solve this?Didn't want to go ahead without seeking advice first. Thanks Wayne, also to Cesar PY2YP, but I still get error messages. This is what happens: I open DX4Win and get the an exception has occurred in module dx4win.exe .. Next, try to open a log file and I get a fatal error occurred reading the log file.. this happens whatever log file I try to open (including the DX4WIN sample log), but interestingly just a single QSO from the log file appears in the logging window (I see LX1EA in the sample log for instance).If I try to open my own log file (over 200,000 QSOs) the log appears to be opening in the background, but then just a single QSO appears in the log entry window and I get the 'exception has occurred' message again. This might be a bit late to investigate. but 'what-if' I decide to open a brand new log for (say) 2010, is there any way to run the 'Other QSOs' box concurrent with the new log so that previous contacts can be viewed? I guess this wont be possible as the previous contacts would be in a different .dxl file, ? Under version 7 the Group Selection for a specific date range worked as: Group Selection Filter - Selection Click on the Add button, change the name, enter the start/end dates, click the Date Filter box, then Update, then OK. Now, under version 8.01, I can't get any further than 'change the name', I am Unable to enter start/end dates. Anyone else experience this? What I am ultimately trying to do is just export part of the log as ADIF for a specific date period. As mentioned previously though, SPLIT operation on RTTY (MMTTY) doesn?t work properly; if you call someone on the 2nd VFO the received signal on the main VFO is then reversed.? I suppose it depends how much split frequency operation you do on MMTTY, but it was annoying to find this happen when calling the guys at 3B7. There ?*could* be some other anomalies too.

Anyone using DX4WIN in conjunction with a W5XD (Writelog) Multi-Keyer? When running Writelog and the Multi-keyer with a 1000MP I successfully key via the COM port for CW, but for DX4WIN I have to resort to a separate LPT connection. [Dx4win] Windows COM Port Problem?
This is something which has happened ever since I had this computer (Hewlett Packard Pavilion T461, about two years old and running XP), and is something I thought to get to grips with some time. Scenario is this - - Computer switched on, maybe for email or general use, but radios (2 x 1000MP) are switched off; some time later (could be an hour, maybe several hours) the radios are switched on and the appropriate radio software booted up (this could be DX4WIN or Writelog), but - for whatever reason (that's THE problem) - the COM ports do not communicate with the radios. I have to switch off, and reboot the PC in order for the COM ports to see the radio. The particular COM ports have *not* been used for any other devices, so something else grabbing the COM ports doesn't appear to be the issue. OK, this is not *that* serious, just a little bit annoying, and (as stated at the beginning) is one of those things to get to grips with some time. So, maybe today's that day! Anyone any idea as to what needs to be done to resolve this? 73 Steve GW4BLE

[Dx4win] Replies - Reinstall to new PC - and more questions...
Thanks to the guys who have already replied about this, based on the comments (below), they have opened up a few more queries though I recommend you first copy your existing DX4WIN directory (and all subdirectories) to the new machine. THEN re-install DX4WIN in the same place. This is needed to get the parallel port driver working properly. I backup my SAVE directory on to a cd and second HD. Make a new complete install off dx4win. Than copy the save directory in the new installation off dx4win/save directory Steve don't forget to copy the VICH11.sys file into Windows/system32 folder. You should re-install DX4WIN on the XP machine then copy your key files from the old PC. The program chooses the correct parallel port driver based upon the operating system, and maybe other drivers. If you are not using the parallel port, it might be OK copying everything. Did not work for me. Just coping did not do it because when you just copy the program is not installed. Installation is necessary to get the program to be registered and run. The way I got it to play was to install and set up a log. Then deleted the save folder and then copied in the complete old save folder. That worked for me but it might also be possible to import the log. As the saying goes on this side of the Atlantic, your mileage may vary. I did something similar with TRLog and found that the copying onto CD converted all the files to read-only. This is readily reversible in Windows Explorer but drove me nuts till I found it! Questions of concern now IF files are some how converted to read-only in the copying process, how are they reversed in Windows Explorer? and... What's the issue with the VICH11.sys file? [Dx4win] Soundcard Question.....
The upgrade to 6.02 is working fine here, thanks to the software writers for a job well done! The ability to access a second soundcard is great, particularly when running PSK31 and having the spots being announced via the second soundcard at the same; however, is it possible to configure DX4WIN to have that happen *all the time*, i.e. have all the packet voice announcements routed directly to the second soundcard ? It appears there must be a routine in DX4WIN for that to happen, but I could see no mention of it in the win.ini file so presume this is happening elsewhere under Windows (WIN98 SE in my case) ? My second soundcard, a Yamaha DX-SG, has a speaker plugged in it and that works when my TV tuner card is in use, also DX4WIN voice announcements are somehow routed to it when my Soundblaster 16 card (an old ISA unit) is running PSK31. But what I would like to do is have *all* my DX4WIN voice announcements routed through the other card. Anyone any ideas please? 73 es thanks Steve GW4BLE

Hello, With all the current dialogue concerning release 6.xx this may not get a look-in, but if you a DX4WIN and Writelog W5XD Multi-Keyer user then please read on. I am currently using release 5.03 of DX4WIN, and have just installed the W5XD keyer for use under Writelog. However, in doing this I can not key (CW) either rig (1000MP or TS440) when using DX4WIN. I have been reliably informed that this is to do with a driver issue and not specifically related to the keyer itself.I need to key on the serial port, which in my case is COM2. Does anyone know of a driver that I can download that will overcome this and permit me to run DX4WIN alongside the W5XD unit? oh, and if for some reason this has been addressed with release 6.xx then I'll be certain to upgrade. [Dx4win] SB16 Soundcard PSK31 Error
Hello, Having now successfully (?) installed a second soundcard (I now have an old ISA SoundBlaster16) I have an error message when trying to run PSK31 which says - card doesn't support 16 bit 8000Hz mono format. Why should this be? The SB16 works fine for voice keying (i.e. with Writelog and a RIGblaster) but why the apparent problem with DX4WIN PSK31? Oh, if anyone is interested, the trick to get the two soundcards installed correctly under Windows was to FULLY remove the original soundcard (by that I mean, remove *all* the software drivers and physically remove the card), then install the ISA card (SB16) manually (not PnP) plus software followed by the PCI card (mine is a Yamaha DX-SG). Sounds easy just saying it like that - took a while to figure out the correct sequence of doing things though!
