Do you select to ignore the imported Q if it is a dupe? If not you
overwrite the previously confirmed Q with an unconfirmed one.

Re: [Dx4win] Connecting K3 and KX3 to DX4WIN.

2022-10-22 Thread Jim Rhodes
I have always used the same settings as Mike except sometimes on different
computers the com port varies.. And this includes using the USB interface
on the rig. You should be able to use the same settings on the KX3. There
are some differences, but not enough to bother. At least it has never
caused me any issues with DX4Win or other software that doesn't list the
KX3.

[Dx4win] Portable grids?

2020-01-17 Thread Jim Rhodes
How does one deal with periods of operation when in another grid? I travel
for work and will set up a portable operation and work some FT4/8 but I
don't see how to track this in my main log. I don't want to work people
from North Dakota and submit to LOTW showing that I was in Nebraska.

Re: [Dx4win] Fwd: Re: DX4WIN vs. Freebees

2020-01-13 Thread Jim Rhodes
The main problem with automating a lot of this stuff is accuracy. People
move and neglect updating their info until it is time to renew. Or they do
portable operations (I do this a lot as my work takes me to different
areas, most in same call area, but different state or county.) I spent last
summer in North Dakota, but people would contact me after ft4 or 8 QSOs
telling me they needed Nebraska (my home state) for WAS even though I sent
the grid I was actually in, but they looked me up on QRZ. I suppose I
should post a note about that on there. Am off to another temporary QTH
next week for 6 months.

the date I updated to version 9.07.

Re: [Dx4win] Disaster

2019-10-29 Thread Jim Rhodes
Before you do anything else! Navigate to the save directory for your Dx4Win
files. Look for a file called something like N2MMLog.~XL. This is the log
file from before the last file save. Now, rename or delete (your choice)
your current log file (like N2MMlog.DXL, then rename the N2MMLog.~XL to
N2MMLog.DXL. Does it sound like I have been where you are now?

Or, if you are using windiz anyway, you could look in the recycle bin and

I wouldn't have expected it till after the weekend, and won't be home to

[Dx4win] How to link DX4WIN with MMTTY is on my WEBPAGE

2003-01-21 Thread Jim Rhodes
Heck, that is what I do with just 2 windows in win98. If I can't log from
mmtty or click on calls in dx4win, why would I want to link them? Here I

[Dx4win] RTTY SOLUTION FOR DX4WIN users under WIN98 & W2K & XP

2002-12-16 Thread Jim Rhodes
Actually I get by just fine with MMTTY running in it's own window & logging
in Dx4Win. As a future upgrade it would be nice to have it more closely
interfaced, in fact that, to me anyway, would make more sense than the
PSK31 interface.

And no, WriteLog does not include the MMTTY files, you have to download
them & the interface files separately. In fact, unless you get someone else
to download them for you, that is the only way to get MMTTY as there isn't
any commercial distribution. So your closing statement is really irrelevant.

Not nearly as simple as using with WriteLog. That is what people would like

[Dx4win] Soundcard questions

[Dx4win] Soundcard questions

2002-11-18 Thread Jim Rhodes
What I did with my 570 was to build a switch box for the audio. It also
houses the isolation transformers & attenuator. I can switch the mike back
& forth from directly to the rig, or through the sound card to the rig so
that when using the DVK features the processing is the same (no processing
on back panel connector) and it can switch my audio out from the sound card
to either the mike in or to the system speakers. It also has a 4 position
switch that allows me to switch instantly between 3 mikes. I use FSK rather
than AFSK for rtty, but of course use the mike input for PSK. Also has PTT
& FSK interface from COM port.

The main reason I did it this way was so that the DVK would use the front
panel mike input so that the processing would stay the same whether using
the mike or wave file input. Also makes it more portable to other rigs.

[Dx4win] Multiple QSL managers

It will help you remember, but not the program. The automated manager

manually, The correct manager will not print on the label. I suppose the
absolute best way to handle it is with multiple entries is the manager file

[Dx4win] DX4WIN Export

2002-02-04 Thread Jim Rhodes
What you do depends on what format you want the file. If you want an ADIF
format you first set a filter for the dates included (after you enter the
first date a window opens to let you enter the second date). Then go to
Import/Export, select ADIF, then File/Export and give it a descriptive file
name. It will ask you if you want to use the filter in place, answer yes
and your file will be saved.

If you want a different file format, just select it from the menu before
you export.

Let me know if this is not complete enough.

[Dx4win] death to labels

2002-01-27 Thread Jim Rhodes
This is what I use for my cards. I have set up Custom2 label format as follows:

Label Width: 119.99 Label Height:35.50 Nr across:1 Nr down:1

Horiz Pitch:119.10 Vert Pitch:32.99Paper siz:
custom

Spacing left:19.99 Spacing top:45.01 Page
width:140 page height:80

Horiz shift:0.00Vert shift:0.00 Max
QSOs:0 Portrait:(checked)

Callsign Font:Andale Mono

Body Font:Andale Mono

Options: Comercial:9checked) Use lines:(unchecked) Call right
aligned:(unchecked)

This was posted to the reflector some time ago by one of our friends. I do
not take credit for that. They can be adjusted to fit your cards. However,
I designed my own format without the boxes. This allows Dx4Win to print
several QSO's on one card. Thus the Max QSOs is set to 0 to allow the
program to do this. If you only want 1 QSO per card, set this to 1.

[Dx4win] Log-Split

2001-12-30 Thread Jim Rhodes
If all you want to do is split off the log for 1 band you can set a filter
for that band. Export to ADIF using that filter and import that file into
your other log. After the first time you might want to also set dates so
that you are not importing dupes.
