[Dx4win] DX4WIN and Club Log?
I use DX4WIN for everything except my few contests. It worked great from Miquelon last summer for daily uploads to LOTW and Club Log. Many of the QSL cards that K9OT and I get have the DX4WIN commercial on the label. However, I found this interesting page on the Club Log website: http://www.clublog.org/software.php DX4WIN is not listed among the favorite programs at all. It must not declare a PROGRAMID in uploaded ADIFs? I am wondering if this could be on the program development wish list or if I could add something to file uploads that would help promote DX4WIN in the future. 73 de Peg KB9LIE in snowy far SW Wisconsin USA __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

When I import ILQSO Party contacts that are with a county-line operation, the times have to be a minute different or DX4WIN considers them dupes. Anyway that's how it works for me. Re: [Dx4win] QSL Methods dropdown list
I use Other for something else, like an alert to not bothering QSLing, with a note in the QSO Notes field. Maybe Ignore would work for that too. I do put notes in the QSO field to indicate non-standard requests. The option, which I never figured out what it meant except maybe "beware of green stamp collector", is nice for being able to do a special search. Like when our club had an award for working 100 entities in a 12-month period. The OM and I both got it. I could use the Satellite field next time since I don't work the birds. All I do is export from DX4Win for ClubLog first and then LOTW, without trying to mesh the three. I don't care if CL shows confirmations. You might as well do a search by date in that case. I use Groups in my main log to differentiate from G3NKC and G3NKC/P, and I think I set up GQ3NKC - so call sign variants. For my GD contest operations, I currently hold separate logs for GD0EMG, MD6V, and MD4K; even though I have been thinking about the merits of merging those logs (might be nice to see a complete DXCC achievement, for instance); but I often think these would be outweighed by the overhead when doing the QSLling chores (when someone requests a card, I normally QSL all QSO's with our particular contest call. I might end up selecting QSL's for all call's; meaning I have 3 labels that would have to go on 3 cards). [Dx4win] saving files for backup
At home, I save-as my current DX4WIN file as call plus the date (month-day-year or it won't sort right). Then save-as to the USB flash drive, take to work and save-as to the network drive, which is backed up. Because of the date in the file name, I can easily tell which is the latest version. So the older ones are backups too. When using a laptop for portable, I just save-as the latest version from the flash drive. If printing labels at work, or uploading to LOTW, the new file gets a later date or even an additional letter after the date. Otherwise I can't tell if I was using the current file or not. I have DX4WIN files for both OM Paul K9OT and me plus our FP files, for a total of four. Dating them helps a lot. 73 de Peg KB9LIE Looking for a deal? You must open your ADIF log with a notepad or equivalent and locate from the first QSO line the state information. In one of my old ARRL DX contest logs the state could be found from comment field i.e. K4XS14.000CW22190002 599599FL If your log looks the same as my example you must a replace command to replace all the "comment:4"s with "state:2"s (without the hyphens). Look at an ADIF file (using notepad) and see if the STATE: field is there. If not, I have a program which populates state/county information into an ADIF file generated from certain state QSO parties. Some of the contest logs use non-standard fields to hold the state and/or section. See: http://software.ad1c.us/#County There's a link to a Windows version of the program somewhere there. Now this program doesn't support random contests with just states or counties, but (i.e. NAQP etc.) but it "might just work" by picking any state from the drop-down box. But if you send me a representative ADIF log, I'll add that functionality, it should only take me a day or two. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.us From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Jan 22 16:32:51 2007 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Mark) Date: Mon Jan 22 16:36:40 2007 Subject: [Dx4win] winkey2 support Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I've had some problems with using my new WINKEY2 (USB) with DX4WIN.
