[Dx4win] 60m QSO's not showing up on clublog

2021-02-08 Thread Peter
I have just started operating on 60 meters and I seem to be having a
problem with my logs uploading to clublog. All 60m qso's log properly on
clublog and show as worked but no confirmations show on clublog as
confirmed. It appears that the ADIF file doesn't change when I change
the lotw confirmation from N to Y. This appears to be happening only on
60m contacts. I would appreciate thoughts on this issue.

Thanks in advance.

[Dx4win] 60 meter country tracking

2021-01-06 Thread Peter
I just setup for 60 meter operation (first time on this band) and since
60m is not active for DXCC  it appears that DX4WIN does not allow for
tracking of countries worked.

If I'm incorrect in this assumption please instruct me. If my
understanding is correct I would like to know how others are tracking
60m band totals.

I do notice you can sort of track using clublog tools.

Onderwerp: [Dx4win] Version 9 with Licence version 8 ...?

Hi

Thaks for making available Version 9.
Downloaded it, tried to work with my licence Version 8 but seems that 9
requires another licence (I got: *no licence found; you cannot save your
log)* . Is this correct or am I missing something?
I've downloaded my licence to DX4Win file as I've done before with version
8.05 (which works perfectly). Or should I delete Version 8 and then download
9? May I have both versions in my PC (obviously having only one
open) ?
Would appreciate your help.

But it will not accept a minus sign.

[Dx4win] Sort out qsl report

2011-08-14 Thread Peter
Hi

New guy to DX4WIN 8, but have also the key for version5 and 6, and start
playing with it.
I do have imported my old log with the old callsign and also have
uploaded this log to LOTW
Second imported the qsl from LOTW to DX4WIN. They al have the status of
pending.

Now I busy with marking the QSL received into DX4WIN (F2)
I have done 790 qso's an I like to know how much of them are needed for
field checking
I keep the card apart when I got a notice when entering via F2

Creating a report give all of them.
How can I filter out the LOTW qsl's?

[Dx4win] eQsl, qsl confirmed download of .ADIF file

2011-05-06 Thread Peter Thulesen

Can any help with this:
When downloading from the eQsl Archive I don't get an ADIF file downloaded to
my PC.

What I get is a lot of web-pages with the raw data shown no downloaded ADIF
file.

I'm using the link on the bottom of the Archive page that says: 'Download
entire InBox in
ADIF format'? That takes me to another page where I select the '.ADI File' link.
I then save that file to my PC desktop. This file is not recognized by DX4WIN
as an ADIF file
that can be imported by DX4WIN.

When I click on the .ADI file on the eQsl web-page 'Download entire InBox in
ADIF format' following
is shown on the webpage (see copy in italic below).

I had anticipated that the system would make an ADI file which I can save on
the PC directly like LoTW?

Guy,
Thanks for looking. I suspect that similar firmware upgrades will be made
available for other Icom rigs in the coming weeks, so there will be a lot of
interest in having Paul look at what will need implementing in DX4win to
support reading split frequencies across a wide range of Icom transceivers.

Well Peter,
It looks not that simple.
I compared the cat commands from the original release and what is changed in
the new release There are no new CI-V commands added Cmd 0F 00/01 is changed
from split off/on to read split setting 00/01 = off/on.

Cmd 1C is completely changed to what DX4WIN probably can to read the split
freq but the previous value-check for cmd 1C was never used in DX4WIN.
They were used to check if you were in RX/TX or to read the antenna tuner.
Think we have to wait after a solution from Paul

[Dx4win] Icom IC-7800 rig file

2010-12-26 Thread Peter Bacon
I see that Icom has updated the firmware for the IC-7800 to ver 2.30.
The new firmware include the long awaited ability to read split frequencies.
Has anyone figured out how to implement this in the DX4Win rig file/

[Dx4win] Ver. 8.0.2 does not accept my .key-file

2009-11-30 Thread Peter Thulesen

After installing DX4Win ver. 8.0.2 the system does not accept

the 'call.key'-file.

The 'call.key'-file is located as described in the installation instructions

and works fine with the older version 7.0.5.

Have anyone experienced this failure?

Who can help to clarify and rectify this problem?

Best regards

Peter

I inadvertently opened the CTY file with notepad on one of my computers. I

Tried reinstalling the software, that does not work. Keeps changing the file

Hi Pete,

Assuming your .INI file is relatively up-to-date, delete
SAVE\DX4WIN.CFG then start DX4WIN. There will be no config file, but
the main program menu should be there. Merge your .INI file back in.

[Dx4win] Editing RIG files

Can somebody point me to where I can find a detailed description of how to
edit the rig files in DX4WIN.

I am not happy with the way DX4WIN controls my Elecraft K3 when I click on a

the filters to the narrowest bandwidth. So I would like to see if I can
tweak the RIG file to improve the performance. Note I am using the latest

[Dx4win] Orion timeouts with DX4WIN?

2004-01-07 Thread Peter E. Beedlow
I do not see timeouts but at times slow response in the DX4WIN program. I
don't use the keyboard for sending CW but prefer to do it myself. However at
times I do see some delay moving from item to item on the QSO window.

My system is Window 98 running on a 400 Meg machine with 128 Meg of ram. The
only other "program" running id DXTelnet and of course the usual Windows
system stuff including Ethernet support.

I hate to be picky but in a network or connectivity environment when
something times out it cease to function. As I said in my first sentence I
think we are seeing slow response from the operating system and possibly the
DX4WIN program. Most logging programs were not originally written to support
a 57.6Kb communications speed and my suspicion this is where the problem
lies. Obviously the OS can handle 10Mb or 100Mb Ethernet connectivity but
quite possibly the two in conjunction are causing the delays in the program.

 Just my thoughts!

A friend who had just received an Orion has found difficulties with
DX4WIN as follows:

1. Sometimes when sending CW from the DX4WIN keyboard, he sees long
delays (1-2 seconds) before sending commences. It never stutters once it
starts, but occasionally hesitates.

2. If he sets Retries to 1 on the poll setting, the radio times out
almost immediately, even with 10 second polling intervals. If retries is
set to 2, then it seems to operate OK - has anyone experienced timeouts
with the Orion / DX4WIN?

He has all the interface settings set at the TT specified values.

Subject: [Dx4win] Newbie questions

Hello All,

I have version 5.03, and I'm at 2100 Q's out of about 12K
to be manually entered.

I've just discovered that my first QSO with "Dubuque" County
Iowa does not show up in the list of counties worked. The QSO
-IS- in the log and it shows up when I search for "Dubuque" in the
"County" field. With about 590 counties now "worked", I'm now
wondering if there are others that have also failed to show in the
list. I REALLY don't want to go back and audit 2100 entries to
see if EACH "new one" has shown up as I've entered it. Someone
please see if your "Dubuque" county QSO appears in YOUR list
of counties worked.

It would be helpful to have the ability to enter "Independent City"
in the County field for those states that have these ... VA and
MO, for example. Why? Since there isn't (yet) a "City" field
one could search "VA" and "Independent City" for QSO's that
could be claimed for one of the needed adjacent counties.

A "City" field would be most helpful. In my span of 51 years
of operating I have many QSO's with stations that have been
located in different places and if I understand correctly these
must be noted in the "Notes for this QSO" field and NOT in the
"Notes for this call". I accidentally found that a "Notes ... call"
entry for "Bill - Podunk" will be changed in all my QSO's with
"Bill" when I log him at his new location as "Bill - Hamville".
I should have been entering all the 2100 locations in the "Notes ...
QSO" field ... correct?

I've run across numerous cases of spelling conflicts with 'boro
and 'borough as they appear un the US Postal Directory. The
Postal Directory spelling should be the "correct" one.

The CA "Yuma" / "Yuba" County error has been noted before.

How do we know when there is a update available as these
little glitches get fixed and how do I get the update?

[Dx4win] Re: Change Log

2002-11-20 Thread Peter McKay

Using the group feature is fine for multiple callsigns but I do not find it
necessary to have a master log with all the calls together.
One log can be closed using the "X " in the logging window, then file-open-
(for an existing one) or file-new to create.
All callsigns then have their own log.
I only find it necessary to have one log for all qsos when checking for
"FISTS". This can be easily done using merge or import dx4win into a
another log file.

[Dx4win] Another (short) wishlist for version 6

2002-10-18 Thread Peter McKay
Hello Brian,

There is no "wishlist" per se. I just tagged on mine after a few had been
submitted in previous digests.

As you correctly said, dx4win is not run by a large software shop. Steve
and Co. do a fine job and mere mortals like myself don't comprehend what is
behind the addition of items which may seem simple to us.

Lets see what version 6 brings

I'm pretty new to Dx4win; heck I'm new to ham radio. I have a question
about
this. Does Steve collect these "wishlist" requests and track them? Is there
a release schedule for version 6? When I ordered it a few months ago, he
did
mention it. If he's already stared, it's probably to late to get new ones
in
for the next release. I think everyone forgets that this isn't run by a
large software development house. Anyway, I'm just curious.

[Dx4win] Telnet via Cable Modem Timeout

2002-07-21 Thread Peter E. Beedlow
Have been sort of following this thread but haven't kept all the messages to
go back and refer to. But I do agree with whoever made the comment about
checking with the node sysop that you are trying to stay connected to. I use
DXTelnet and have been connected to a node for the past three days without
any drops that I am aware of. DXTelnet does have a keep alive feature and a
reconnection option that you can enable and it interfaces to DX4WIN very
easily.

My ISP is Mediacom and all my "stuff" is behind a Linksys BEFW11S4
router/firewall/switch/access point. I have experienced dropout problems in
the past but switching nodes solved the problem. That tells me that all
nodes aren't created equal even though they may be running the same
software.

Good luck..

Since Tony, N2TK, is out of touch, this is to others following this thread.

I upgraded the firmware for my LinkSys BEFSR41 to the latest version,
1.42.7, and there is no reference to either "connect on demand" or "keep
alive" in this version. This was confirmed in several conversations with
LinkSys Support yesterday. Also, my ISP apparently does not support PPPoE in
any case, and enabling that option cripples my connection.

LinkSys suggested that the timeout might be due to something my ISP does,
but my ISP tech told me they do no such thing, so we have obviously reached
the I-don't-know-I-am-grabbing-at-straws point with LinkSys.

The newer firmware appears to have no effect on the timeout problem here.

That leaves the earlier suggestion to place this PC outside the
DMZ/firewall, which would expose it to the creatures of the jungle. There
are software firewalls available, but my pal W6WA, who is the IT guru at the
company for which I sometimes consult, strongly recommends the "hardware"
firewalls provided by the router.

I'm no computer weenie, so, at this point, I am stalemated.

Hello all,

A fellow is trying to convert his log from his old program to DX4WIN format
and what he is sending me, I can't work with. (I don't have any special
tools or utilities for working with different file formats, etc)

The files are from Logic version 2.1 and are in a .dbf format, which
neither DX4WIN nor Excel like. Anyone out there who may still have this
program, or at least some working knowledge of it, who may be able to give
me a hand sorting this file out for this fellow?

Robert,
Not sure if you are talking about the same printing problem as others,
especially since you mention 'labels'. The problem I (and others) are
experiencing with 5.03 is that when printing in landscape mode, only the
first page prints in landscape. Printing then reverts to portrait for page 2
thru whatever. I use an Epson 880 and a NEC Superscript 870 and they both
act the same way. Also, the problem does not exist on 5.02.

I too bashed :-) DX4WIN for a long time as my printing problem when I had a
Epson 440.
I had no problems with ANY OTHER software printing labels correctly on the
EPSON
440, so it had to be DX4WIN's label problem.

Well I bought and installed a Epson PHOTO 820 ALL LABELS PRINT PERFECTLY.

[Dx4win] PSK31message buffers and question of location

2002-02-10 Thread Peter McKay
1To modify the PSK31 message buffers, the instructions indicate we can
use 26 control characters %A through %Z where %M is carriage return, %X is
start and %C for a CW i.d. What do the other 23 do, or how can I
modify/create controls ??

2...I had two previous callsigns in E4 and 4X. The location being the same,
no problems for the Preferences settings, I just used a different .dxl file.
Now I want to work from S0, geographically far away for the map, bearings
etc. I think I will have to install another dx4win copied as dx4win(2)in
Programme files. Is this correct ??

Thanks for a great programme, way ahead of the others.

I agree with you that the summary country window will follow the

for the highlighted box should also follow the band of the incoming
spot.

I am not sure if this comes under your proposal or as a new feature.

What I would also like to see is the box inside the "Country Window" track
the band and mode from the incoming highlighted packet spot. Presently the
box inside the window tracks the band and mode from the QSO displayed in the
