Re: [Dx4win] JT65A

2016-08-12 Thread Dan Violette
Easier to do in person. Basic ideas: Run in CW part of band first and get
signal on the screen. Should be blue/gray background with yellow signal
(something like that, going by memory don't do too often). Makes sure wide
filter and there is a slider for shooting for 0 when no signal (and + numbers
when signal). When you see a signal, go to 14.076 and see if you find some
JT65 there. Make sure either digital mode or USB depending on what radio
recommends. If you hear something, it should decode at the end of the minute
(46 seconds after). Do that a bit until you are comfortable receiving. Then
TX is a combination of speaker output from the PC and radio mic gain along with
PTT. More difficult but get the RX first.

This all assumes you have the audio lines from the PC to the radio correct.
May need to find a local friend who has done it.

You can have two virtual serial ports (e.g. COM1, COM2) in your PC/Mac
with a single CAT interface.
Running DX4Win and e.g. fldigi or even HRD in parallel works fine.

Cort,

I use WSJT-X for JT65. It is also available as a free download. I setup
both WSJT-X and DX4WIN to run off of the same com port. But I do not run
them at the same time. When I want to work JT65, I click on Radio in DX4WIN
and click on Stop Radio, but I keep DX4WIN open. This disconnects DX4WIN
from the radio and opens up the com port.

I then open WSJT-X and it automatically connects to the radio. When I am
finished making a JT65 contact, the QSO is saved to the wsjt.log file. I
then import the log file into DX4WIN. Just go to File, Import/Export, make
sure ADIF is selected at the top, click on Import, go find the WSJT file in
your directory, double click on it, then when the window for Options for
Duplicates pops up, select Ignore Duplicate QSO. This will ensure that you
only import any new JT65 QSOs into your DX4WIN log.

Since the signal reports from WSJT-X incorrectly go into the Notes for this
Call field, I then cut and paste to move the signal report information from
that field to the Notes for this QSO field.

When I am done working JT65, I close WSJT-X -- which frees up the com port.
I then click on Radio in DX4WIN and Start Radio to connect the radio back to
DX4WIN. Again, not elegant but effective. BTW, it is fun to work weak
signal JT65 on 6m as well as the other HF bands. So you should give it a
try.

It would be great if Paul would someday start enhancing DX4WIN again. I am
sure many of us would like to see an automatic interface between WSJT-X and
DX4WIN like there is for MMTTY. We also need DX4WIN to support JT9 as a
mode. I might also add that an automatic interface for Fldigi would be
great for the many other digital modes currently available. But Paul has
been strangely inactive and incommunicado for five or six years now.

For the time being, this is a workaround that is cumbersome but pretty
foolproof. Good luck.

I just let DX4WIN enter 59 and 599 for everything. I only note 'actual'
signal reports at the time of the QSO because an hour later they
are meaningless...
If you use the program JT65-HF it logs in an Excel file (jt65hf-log) file
sent and received signal reports in dB. This you can then sort every
which way...
Of course JT65-HF also logs all contacts in an ADIF file which I
import into DX4WIN...
Fun stuff... 73, Art W6KY

Re: [Dx4win] JT65A LoTW

While I was able to export the contacts ..
thank you all.

Hello Javi,

The TrustedQSL program should include JT65 as a mode.

First thing to do is check your Adif file. Specifically look at the number
of characters listed for mode. mode:4JT65 The number must read 4 for the
four alpha-numeric information such as JT65. If you are using JT65A, the
mode number should be 5 (five).

If the Adif file appears to be OK, please follow the instructions listed
below to add JT65 to your TQSL program.

Open TQSL program.

Click FILE

Click Preferences

Click Adif Modes

Click ADD

In the Adif Mode box type JT65

In the Resulting TQSL mode highlight DATA

Click OK

Click OK

This should give add JT65 to your list. (You can add JT65A as well.)

Thank you.

If you want to submit it as JT65 you can do the following:

In TQSL Go to FilePreferencesADIF Modes
 Select Add
Under ADIF Mode type JT65A, Under resulting TQSL mode select JT65.
By doing this all of your JT65A QSOs will be entered into LoTW as the base
 type of JT65.

It's better to create a map from JT65A to DATA since that's what it
is, a DATA mode contact. LoTW doesn't care about modes when matching
QSOs, just Mode Groups.

Version 1.13 might handle it directly. Don't know. I didn't know there was
 a 1.13 till this morning.

I added several new mode mappings to the 1.12 kit which the ARRL used
as the basis of 1.13 so it may be in there already.

2011-01-24 Thread Loren Hunt
The version of TQSL you are running doesn't know what JT65A is. I'm still
running 1.11 and it doesn't show it. It does know about JT65. If you want to
submit it as JT65 you can do the following:

In TQSL Go to FilePreferencesADIF Modes
Select Add
Under ADIF Mode type JT65A, Under resulting TQSL mode select JT65.
By doing this all of your JT65A QSOs will be entered into LoTW as the base type

Version 1.13 might handle it directly. Don't know. I didn't know there was a

Please copy/paste the error message from TQSL. That will help narrow
down whether the problem is in DX4WIN or LoTW.
