[Dx4win] QSO confirmed status (not) on ADIF export.

2009-04-06 Thread David Gould
I have just upgraded from V6 to V7 with the V7 installed in a new folder.

Question 1)
The HELP menu item does not work. On clicking I get a WARNING msg
 Could not get help contents
 Error = 0
Msg = The operation completed successfully !!

If I click on Search for Help On... I get nothing at all.

This might help my main problem if I could get at the help...
Do I need to do something to activate the Help?

Question 2)
I think the ADIF field that gives the QSO confirmed status is
called qsl_rcvd:1
   Is this correct?

Question 3)
I exported my log a few weeks ago with V6 and the the few QSOs that I
have card confirmations for were apparently exported correctly as the
receiving application shows them as confirmed.
I have since upgraded to V7
I have now created a dummy log and done 4 exports
a) No confirmations in DX4Win
b) card confirmation
c) upload confirmation
d) both confirmations
I have changed the QSO preferences each time accordingly
The DXCC summary report shows the correct data for each case.
But all four ADIF exports have the item..qsl_rcvd:1Neor

So if I am looking at the correct ADIF item I am not getting any
Yes confirmations exported in any of the cases.

Any help to solve this would be appreciated?
Has something in this area changed from V6 to V7?

73,
Dave

Re: [Dx4win] QSO confirmed status (not) on ADIF export.

2009-04-06 Thread Mel
re 1... does it happen if you try to access help immediately after
opening DX4Win? There is a bug where DX4Win looks for help in the wrong
place. I've noticed it happens when you use the common dialog editor to
access a log file. I think D4W is looking in the current directory
instead of the application directory.

2 and 3: go to www.adif.org for an explanation of ADIF. Unfortunately
D4W is still using ADIF ver 1.

Card confirmed contacts should export qsl_rcvd:1y . It works fine here.

2009-04-06 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
The Help problem was fixed in later versions of 7. Check the shortcut
icon that starts DX4WIN and make sure that Start in is the same path
as the program target.

I think #2 is correct, will have to get back to you on #3 if no one
else does first.

Changed which QSO preferences?

I just exported my log, using the confirmed pref, Card in Hand and
QSL_RCVD is set correctly for all 80K QSOs.

Remember, that only the Cnfm field (for paper QSLs, between Method
and QRP) is exported in the QSL_RCVD ADIF field.

Re: [Dx4win] QSO confirmed status (not) on ADIF export.

2009-04-06 Thread AC0W
Dave,

# 1 May be a Windows problem. I've had the same problem in the past with DX4WIN
and other software specifically with help files after an update. Windows is not
giving DX4WIN permission to open the help file.

There are a couple ways to fix. Easiest is to find the help file in the v7
folder. Double click on it to open it up. A pop up box may appear asking if you
want to open the file (or something like that), click yes or okay. Now you can
close and it should work from DX4WIN.

Re: [Dx4win] QSO confirmed status (not) on ADIF export.

2009-04-06 Thread Mel
I don't believe it is correctly fixed. The fact that the start in
directory has to be set is part of the problem. The current directory
changes when you use the file Common Dialog.

2009-04-06 Thread Mel
I believe this is a problem on Vista only. You can turn UAC off... in
fact, probably should on the Ham Shack computer... this may eliminate
some Vista issues. I just switched my office machine to Vista 64 and
haven't encountered this problem yet... but lots of other issues
(Nightmare!!!). It will be a while before I try updating the old clunker
in the Ham shack ;-)
