[e-gold-list] E-gold SRK Broken

2003-02-02 Thread SnowDog
I'm trying to log-in to e-gold for the first time after maintenance
yesterday, and the SRK appears to be broken.

1) Using 6.0.2800.1106, Cipher Strength 56-bit, Update Versions SP1;
Q324929:

Using this version, the SRK refuses to come up and hangs the browser,
requiring me to kill it.

2) Using Netscape 7.01, everything appears to work, but the SRK box is too
small to accommodate all the numbers and letters, and it can't be stretched.
So, it's effectively useless if I have to select a letter or a number on the
right side, beyond the edge.

Anyone else? I use the SRK religiously. I think it's an ingenious tool. I
would hate to see it go. The login works fine when keyed.

[e-gold-list] Re: E-gold SRK Broken

hi craig,
possibly some ideas below:

 1) Using 6.0.2800.1106, Cipher Strength 56-bit, Update Versions SP1;
 Q324929:

that 56-bit cipher is a little weak - can you update to full 128-bit?
[shouldn't cause any problem, but why not go full power...]. i just
tried using IE exact same version number (but 128-bit) and worked fine.

Using this version, the SRK refuses to come up and hangs the browser,
 requiring me to kill it.

the SRK is pretty much all client side javascript - suggests some kind
of browser issue. you can also just try pulling up the srk using the
e-gold URL followed by /srk.asp (of course there will be no window it can
insert characters into, but you should at least be able to open it in
your browser - you can try it both http and https to see if that helps
you diagnose issue).

 2) Using Netscape 7.01, everything appears to work, but the SRK box is too
small to accommodate all the numbers and letters, and it can't be stretched.
So, it's effectively useless if I have to select a letter or a number on the
 right side, beyond the edge.

does netscape support the same text size shortcut commands as mozilla? you
might be able to Ctrl- (that's Control key with minus key) to shrink text
and
see all keypads. i'll see if we can get that default size in netscape to
appear more useable. btw, mozilla does let you resize that window.

Anyone else? I use the SRK religiously. I think it's an ingenious tool. I
would hate to see it go. The login works fine when keyed.

in theory, nothing changed even remotely related to the e-gold SRK. i
would
be interested in hearing any other reports of SRK problems.

Thanks, Jay. A couple of notes:

1) I login everyday using IE, so it's seems quite a coincidence that it
would stop working immediately after your upgrade.

2) I don't usually log-in using Netscape, so that problem may have been
there for a while. However, I cannot resize the SRK window, and the
'maximize' button is disabled. I CAN, however, use 'ctrl-' to make the
letters smaller. That works!

3) I'm not sure how to upgrade IE to 128-bit encryption. I tried searching
the Microsoft site a couple of weeks ago, but could not find it.

4) After logging-in to e-gold, the security level reads 128-bit, green, so I
didn't think it was a problem.

i guess it is somehow possible, i just have no idea what it could be
at this point. we should be able to tell if others report it as a problem.

 3) I'm not sure how to upgrade IE to 128-bit encryption. I tried searching

i thought any IE6 would be 128-bit, so that is a good question. maybe you
are running under win2k and need this:

 4) After logging-in to e-gold, the security level reads 128-bit, green, so I
didn't think it was a problem.

that must be the browser doing SGC or step-up to 128 bit level for certain
sites like the e-gold site. i'd still try and jack that thing up to
128-bits
so you get fullstrength on every site. you can read more about SGC/step-up
here:
http://www.thawte.com/html/RETAIL/sgc/productsheet.html

before you do that, it might be interesting for you to report which
internet gold related secure sites allow you to switch up to 128-bit mode

2003-02-02 Thread zachmsmith
It totally baffles me as to why there is no audit.
It all seems a bit fishy if you ask me.
My question is directed to everyone on this topic!
When last did you ask your local bank to see their last
 audit?

Well my Credit Union has an audit done every year, they present it at
their annual meeting in their annual report. I don't go over it with a
fine tooth comb or anything but the fact that they do an audit which is
made available to members (account holders) provides peace of mind.

Because the Credit Union does these audits it is trusted by Joe Sixpack.
But, the average Joe does not trust e-Gold with their money. If e-Gold
wants to grow then they need to service the Joe Sixpacks out there. To do
this they need Joe Sixpack to trust them. Since Joe Sixpack also does not
trust shady Caribean jurisdictions e-Gold already starts behind.

e-Gold can be a great tool in fighting back for our freedoms. All
mainstream America has to do is turn their back on the Fiat Dollar and the
game will be up. e-Gold can be a great tool to help mainstream America
turn their back on the Fiat Dollar but first e-Gold must make itself
palatable to mainstream America.

PS. It appears the Nevis Trust has vested due to the expiration date
coming up. Perhaps it has been extended? Any comments or observations
anyone?
