[Elecraft] PTT keying a KXPA100 with a K2
Hi, I own a QRP-K2 with the KIO2 installed. I want to PTT key a KXPA100 (not KPA100). May I connect Pin9 from KIO2 (8V in receive mode and 0V in transmit mode) directly with the PTT-IN connector on the KXPA100 (5V receive, 0 V transmit) ? Maybe with a diode (cathode KIO2, anode KXPA100) ? [Elecraft] Feeding 2 transverters XV144
Hi, I want to realize a 144 contest setup with 2 PA, 2 antennas and 2 transverters tuned on the same frequency with therefore a unique K3 switched back and forth only during receive. To do so, I want to feed two XV144 transverters in parallel at 28 MHz from the KXV3 TX path interface (dual port interface) (For receiving, I switch back and forth between the two transverters RX path). In the TX path, I intend to use a BNC-Tee with the common port attached to the 28 MHz KVV3 port and the each transverter connected to the other Tee-Ports. Is this OK or do I need a Wilkinson divider to feed each transverter with the assumed 50 ohm resistance ? I didn't find any impedance figure to be seen from the KXV3 nor from the XV144. [Elecraft] K3 event macros
Hello, In VHF weak signal traffic it's often very useful to end the transmission by a bip sound (the QSO partner knows you are now listening). To do this, I try to write a K3 macro launched by the release of the microphone transmit button. This macro could activate a voice recorder memory place with the bip recorded inside (sure, they are better solutions). Writing the macro itself is probably not a big deal but I didn't found in the K3 programmer manual how to launch the macro as the microphone transmit buton is released - a kind event driven programmation ! [Elecraft] KXPA100 et Smarttuner SG230
Hello, My configuration : KX3, KXPA100 (with KXAT100, not used in normal operation), coax line, SG230 (Smartuner), doublet. My question : In way to tune the Smarttuner, I must send some RF into the Smartuner via the coax line. Before the tuning process begins, the SWR in the coax line to the Smartuner may be very high. In this case, the KXPA100 goes into Fault Condition ("Err Ant") ; no RF more, the tuning process stops. Roundabouts : 1. PA off (via menu), tuning with KX3 barefoot. 2. KXAT100 on, KXAT100 tuning, Smartuner tuning, KXAT100 off. Doing so (1. or 2 above), I can get the Smartuner tuned, but it's a bit cumbersome. Re: [Elecraft] K2 LCD Issue
I had the same issue and resoldering the LCD did the job. 73 Luc/F6HJO Le 25/02/2014 01:02, Don Wilhelm a écrit : Don, That normally is the symptom of a solder connection that did not receive adequate heat during soldering. After a time, enough oxidation has developed to cause a problem. If you are fortunate, that bad solder connection will be at the LCD. Re-flow the solder for the LCD leads (I suggest soldering from the side the LCD is mounted on), and see if that cures the problem. If it does not, then the problem is with the soldering of Front Panel U1. Tell me which segment is not working and I can tell you which U1 pin that needs to be soldered better. Since the pins of FP U1 are covered by the LCD, the technique for resoldering is to carve away a bit of the plastic from the U1 socket and soldering the pin from the socket side of the board. 73, Don W3FPR On 2/24/2014 6:46 PM, donh wrote: Been happily on the air with my K2, but I noticed a few day ago that one of the segment of the LCD numeric display has stopped working. I have an heavy trouble with my K2/100. During last french contest in SO2R setup, I made a mistake and keyed the K3 with the K2 still on the same band. Now the K2 has following behaviour : pressing TUNE, the PA collectors current rise very shortly, then fall. After 1 or 2 seconds, depressing TUNE has the same behaviour. Re: [Elecraft] K2 auto-detect feature
I've never had such a problem, even after 36 hours contesting. [Elecraft] KCR2 with 2 radios, some questions
I'm considering the acquisition of a KRC2-unit, but I'm not sure it will fill my needs in my specific contest configuration. I want to use the KRC2 with a K2 with a KPA100, a KAT100 and a linear (SB220) as first radio, another transceiver as second radio, a PC-contest-program (TR-log or similar), antennas swiching-relais (to switch antennas back and forth beetween the two radios) and other switching devices for keyer and headphones. My question : is the KRC2 the unit I need ? Another question : the KRC2 manual mentions a "daisy-chain" to couple the KTA100 to the KRC2. What is this ? Another word to say parallel connecting ?
