[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net NON-Announcement
Good Evening, The Elecraft CW Net will NOT be run tomorrow due to large numbers of avid (rabid?) contesters banging away at their keyboards :) I am sure they will all be just a little crazy by this point in the contest so I don't wish to goad them into untoward behaviors. Next week the nets will be back. The time will change too. Not the local time but the Zulu time. As usual I will probably get confused but with a week to resolve this issue I may just get it right this time. So same local time (that's the easy part). See you all next week, Kevin. [Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Non Announcement
Tomorrow, due to heavy usage of both twenty and forty meters (aka Sweep Stakes), we will not be meeting for the Elecraft CW Net. The next week we see us all on the air and active. However, I know a few of you will be very active on the bands tonight and tomorrow. Good luck to you during the contest. I, on the other hand, will only spend a short time on the air during SS. I got the last three sheets of drywall up only hours ago. I must restrain myself from putting up any more! I had not planned on covering as much acreage as I did but once you get going ... Now to get the last bit mudded, sanded, remudded, and sanded again. Then I'll get primer on all of it. Early this evening I said to myself, "I am going to get this part of the house done. Even all the plates on all the switches and sockets!" Well I guess I've dug a hole for myself with that statement ;) This will allow me to move into a new work area and only have to cover my gear for the next renovation project instead of moving it all multiple times to get more work done. I did get my soldering iron hot this week! More parts are going into a circuit and I hope to do a little bit more for a reward for all the drywall sanding. I did get some circuits and PCBs designed, some software written, and a bit of theory beaten into my brain. Hopefully my neural net gadgets will get wired up sometime in 2007. Somewhere in there my robots and radio pursuits will merge. In 2001 I got my ticket so my robots could have better comm gear. I was lead astray! My robots have languished since then except for a few paying gigs. Hopefully that hiatus will soon be over. Remember, no nets tomorrow. I wish you all well during your pursuit of very large numbers with very low power. I'll try to stay dry and warm. The weather has been typical Oregon winter. The rain is less in the valleys but my nephew was shocked when he came in around 1 PM today. It was gray in Vancouver but pouring here. [Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net non-Announcement
Hello All, I am pretty sure I'll not be able to run the Elecraft CW Net on Sunday. My first reason was because I would be exhausted from working Field Day. Well, those plans fell through. The venue where I was to participate had to cancel their activities as of a few hours ago. I've not been able to find any other club or group who wants a spare CW op. So, I may just work a little of the Field Day activities from home. I've done that for the last three years but was hoping for some company this year. Maybe I'll find a place on someone's team next year. In any case I hope you all do quite well and hope the propagation favors your antennas at your site. The weather is predicted to reach the 90s on Saturday and Sunday so I'll most likely not get much wood splitting or hauling done. Maybe I should park the truck near the wood pile, turn on the headlights, and work after it cools off. Speaking of wood cutting two new clear cuts have started up within a quarter mile of the house. The large one right next to me is almost done but now it looks like I'll get a few more months of o'dark thirty wake up calls by the log trucks. I keep wondering why I set an alarm since I have to remember to turn it off hours after I wake up! If I do work FD I'll be running under my own call. I am not sure of the letter designation but it will be only one rig on emergency power. I may switch between rigs to try them all out on different antennas but I think since I am a single op I'll be working a 1?? station setup. I should dig up the rules now since my plans have changed. You don't need to know anything about scoring, they do that for you. Try out the N1MM logger It is free and it'll create a Cabrillo file for you and you just email it in. I may have been skunked during the Fox Hunt this week but the Sweepstakes are swift upon us and I shall prevail. I will work as a VE tomorrow for the beginning few hours. Then I travel back up the mountain via a long route past a Greek or Thai restaurant. When we get home Ms P will grade her student's homework and give them another assignment and an online lecture.
