[E-devel] Spam pages in Trac

2010-02-20 Thread Massimiliano Calamelli
Hello, I just finished to do a big cleanup for spam pages in Trac.
I done a similiar job for Trac accounts, removing spam accounts.
BTW, handling the Trac users list is very hard, and sometimes isn't
clear to understand
if an account is a *real* account or a fake.
About this, imho should be useful to moderate new registrations in Trac.

[E-devel] *WARNING* disallowed the creation of a new page in Trac for registered users

2010-02-20 Thread Massimiliano Calamelli
Hello, i removed the permission to create a new page in Trac for
registered users to temporary stop the spam in Trac.
We need a better way to do that, i know, but atm there's the only way
to stop spam pages.
Looks like that admins still can create new pages in Trac.

Ok, the problem could be related to the latest release of Webkit engine.
A friend of mine, very skilled in Synfony, says that after some tests.

 Hi,

 in the Twitter-thread this week on the devel ML we had a discussion
 about how we could make a serious and regular news-section for
 E.org, not only external on twitter/facebook/etcpp.
 I already did some suggestions, but now I'd like to make it more concrete:
 As I see it, it would be best to have the news in a kind of digest
 form, not a lot of single items (that is what the existing twitter
 feed can be used for).
... snip ...

 Please share your opinion,

I really like this proposal.
In the past I thought of something similar, but automatically
generated by the changelogs.
Having this kind of news written by a human is better, in this way
you can filter and
translate-for-users what happened in the week.

Great idea.

 I'm sure this won't keep him from doing his work, but I'm still a
 little disappointed that there is so much discussion about the latest
 web2.0 services while in the last 2 years there has been less than
 30 minutes work on writing for e.org stuff.

I confirm that I want to go on, for now; it is too earl for me to see
if this test is useful or not. Anyway I'll keep in mind your and
other's objection, this discussion is very useful, imho.

 Before there are any complaints about me complaining and not actually
 doing stuff: I'd be free to write small news/articles about new stuff
 in E world (taking from the svn commits and discussion on the ML which
 I follow). If there won't be a possibility to do this directly on
 e.org, maybe planet.e.org would be a way if andres improves it like he
 said. However, with the information being available on twitter this
 would of course be redundant, so I'm not sure if it's still a good
 idea.

I want to be clear, again.
NEWS/ARTICLES/BLOG ARE FUNDAMENTAL FOR OUR COMMUNITY.
ANYONE THAT WANTS TO DO THAT ARE WELCOME.

And about planet.e.org, it is a good start, but imho we need more than
an aggregator, we need something more official, something like a
corporate blog.

I'm not so skilled about english to do that, i usually write about E in
my blog, only in italian language.

Last (for now, i've to tweet about latest commits :) ), i think having
tweets and posts/articles is not redundant, there are not comparable.
If you like RSS feed, you can subcribe to the RSS blog stream, and if
you like Twitter, you can start follow our (unofficial) account.
There's some redundancy if you follow edevel on twitter AND you
subscribe to the RSS stream of this account, but this is not our
problem, it is just your choice.

Let me do a little example of what i do for my posts (obviously imo this
is a good way); ah, note that i'm registered to Twitter (T), FriendFeed
(FF) and Facebook (FB).

When I write a new post:
* FF detects an activity in my RSS stream, got title and URL
* FF add this new entry in my streamline
* FF shortens the URL, and make a tweet with title and short URL in my
T streamline
* I linked the T status to the FB status, so every tweet changes my FB
status

What i got? With one shot I notified all of my contacs that follow me
by RSS feed in blog, FF, T and FB.
With this little chain I cover four different way to tell to my
friends/contacts that i done something new.

I'm not saying we have to do that for E, this is sure, it is just to
explain because i think the twitter presence non redundant.

  if raster stops
  hacking and starts twittering then I'd find out a FUCKING HUGE STICK
  and beat him to death :-)

 You'd have to lend me that stick. :)

Please be careful about my head :)

 I really can't understand why every new hype has to be adopted while
 the official sources are hardly maintained at all.

 If you think the news section on e.org should only contain big and
 important news there would also be the possibility to have a source
 for minor informations (e.g. blog style on blog.enlightenment.org or
 whatever). Or maybe better: have 2 sections on the e.org overview
 site, let's say news for everything new (even minor things) and
 announcements for all the big stuff (e.g. e17 release!!11 :).

First, thank you for comment.

I disagree with you about useless and less professionalism: it is a
very fast and easy way to communicate, and fits good for all,
professional or not; it is a tool, is what you put in that makes it
personal or professional.
I know that 140 characters is really a little space, this requires to
you to change your way to communicate something, but this is not a
limit, this improve yourself.

About, a blog for E, i'm a little tired about this topic: too many times
heard about, but none for now. To be clear, I'm not agry about this, i
know that maintains a blog requires a lot of time, and most people works
for E in our spare time; just a little sad.

E on Twitter is not here to replace our ways to communicate (IRC,
ml's), it is just another way to communicate and expand the community,
like our fan page in Facebook.

Anyway, this is a test, although seems interesting for ten people that

 Once you have a blog application, I don't see the need for Twitter.
  Essentially, each tweet is like the RSS summary to an article that you're
 going to link to in the tweet.  Just following the RSS feed of the blog has
 the same effect.  The only benefit I see to twitter is in knowing how many

Disagree.
Tweets can't be assumed as RSS feeds, imho. Looks similar, but they are not

Agree, again. And imho the real problem is not the leak of blog tool, but

Hi raster, the previous patch came from me, i added fixed: 1 1; to
solve the issue in syscon module with italian translation: buttons
partially truncated.

Two shots to show the problem (E translated in italian):

 Hi all,
 I just finished the 'port' of the new site design to Doxygen, the plan is to
 use this style to all EFL Doxy.
 I have a local version of eina styled at:

 http://www.gurumeditation.it/e_tmp/index.html

 Give a look at it and tell me what you think, I have keept the original doxy
 css as much as possible to make the documentation as much readable as
 possible.

 Dave

 PS: note the new 'docs' entry in the main menu on my page, If you agree I
 will add it also the rest of the site (e.org and trac)

Good work Dave, I like the style you applied to Eina docs, clear,
clean and very readable.
I'll be happy to see this style applied to other docs.

 In any case, either do proper checking if required or remove
 EINA_WARN_UNUSED_RESULT from the function signature, but don't do
 this... since we later realize that we should really handle the
 result, we'd have hard time trying to figure out where these buggers
 are :-(

I know, but after a search I didn't found a proper way to notify an
error. Now, I think that we can do that:

Ex:

kg = evas_object_key_grab(o, Tab, mask, ~mask, 0);
if (!kg)
fprintf(stderr,
  ERROR: unable to redirect \Tab\ key events to object %p.\n,o);
kg = evas_object_key_grab(o, Return, mask, ~mask, 0);
if (!kg)
printf(stderr,
   ERROR: unable to redirect \Return\ key events to object %p.\n,o);
mask = 0; kg = evas_object_key_grab(o, KP_Enter, mask, ~mask, 0);
if (!kg)
fprintf(stderr,
   ERROR: unable to redirect \KP_Enter\ key events to object %p.
\n,o);

What do you think about?

 I think that, at least, we must verify that:

 sufix

 2) if a function has a _new sufix, the invert function must have the _free

 I have seen that, in all the graphic systems of ecore, we create a window

 _new, but we destroy it with _del, which is not consistent with the other
 parts
 of evas / ecore.

 Do you think that we should (must ?) rename these _del functions to _free ?

 of the internet userbase. what about friendster? orkut? myspace? need i go on

 i dont say no - but i am raising the warning flag of just trying to be trendy.
 you are opening a pandoras box. i know i have gotten tired of these things. i

 i know that i, for one, am not into the idea of having to log in with my

 just dont bother participating in even the web forums we ourselves had on

 (maybe.. we just need to be better about promoting/making it easy to use
 these?)

Thank you for your reply.
I understand your point of view, so I'll try to explain better mine.

0) There's no doubt that our primary ways to communicate are IRC and
mails;
1) Imho integrating IRC and mails with some social networks it's not
splitting the community, because the target audience isn't the same;
2) The use of social networks it is just for a presence: quick
replies can be done in place (now i'm thinking about facebook), but
other conversations must be redirected to 0);

In general when I think about a way to grow the community, I keep
always in mind the flow of the informations: our generate the info,
people are notified about it, and the info points to the right place
where discuss about.

Thx again

Hi, i updated my source tree, and running E in a Xnest session i see
a lot of Developer Warning about eina_hash_add with first pointer ==

Here's my work to solve, i don't know if it looks good or if it's dirty.

Anyway, the SAX parser looks fast, well done and easy to use, and
libxml already exists as dependency for E, so I think it is a good

2008-12-09 Thread Massimiliano Calamelli
The problem is not the parsing of xml stream, but the download of the
stream. I used the libxml's internal url fopen wrapper to open the
stream, imho we can have some benefit switching to ecore_file_download
+ parsing the saved file.

 couple of comments:
   - as I reported to you the other day on irc, rating stars are over

 This is because I use only one text object, there are 2 br after the
 version number that should leave enought space for the stars.
 One simple solution is to use 2 different text object per every theme,
 but I don't want to duplicate the number of objects in the scene.
 So the question is: why the textblock will render br differently
 on your machine? maybe we are using a different font?
 Someone else have the same problem?

 this is weird.

 as for the number of objects, for suche a small dialog, it shouldn't
 matter that much.

   - delay heavy operations before dialog is displayed. So far it
 takes
 a lot to show the window, which is very bad. (Some other E dialogs
 are
 like that, mainly those that deal with freedesktop.org .desktop
 files)

 Yes I know, exchange block the mainloop while dowloading and parsing the
 xml
 file. very bad. I'm working for a new nonblocking approach, will be up
 asap.

 if xml is big, you can send it to a thread... I guess libxml has no
 problems with that, just be sure to use no EFL calls there (including
 eina for now).

 BUT, why not use EET for files?! That would explore the potential of
 this nice format! And it should be faster, as well.

 anyway, I think that just adding the startup code to an idler or timer
 after window is displayed will improve user experience a lot.

 As always...thanks for testing  :)

 you're welcome, testing is nothing compared to doing real code! :-) So
 thank you!

Re: [E-devel] EFM: thoughts, current work et al.

2008-11-28 Thread Massimiliano Calamelli
2008/11/28 jess [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
 Hello,
  On this thread, I have tried to read all of them, but have not heard
 any mention of the multiple windows that get opened when using the built
 in file mgr. Is it configurable? I have looked, but have found no way
 to have a double click on a directory open in that windows, vs opening a
 new window. I saw someone mention that they hate treeviews (maybe
 Gustavo?), but personally, I'd rather have that than twenty windows open
 as I navigate through the directories. Is this something that could be
 added as a configurable option? Please let me know if I just haven't
 done the leg work to figure out how the current implementation could be
 configured to use one window vs many.

 Thanks,
 Jess

 This is exacly what the places module do..plus some more :)
 Please have a look at it (http://code.google.com/p/e17mods/wiki/Places)
 In my opinion we can remove some hal code from efm and use more the places
 module (maybe use it by default). This mainly for reducing efm complexity.

 Why don't you add places module in E's SVN? I dislike having to
 search for modules over the net... and I really forgot about places
 (actually could be named volumes, dunno?).

We have exchange.e.org for that, people can add their modules into the
showcase, and add info about where to get it.

Btw, changing this doesn't solve the undefine symbol

Nicolas, you're right.
Someone with commit bit have to change the text in files:
web/exchange/exchange/apps/exchange/modules/home/templates/cvsSuccess.php
web/exchange/exchange/lib/form/ModuleForm.class.php

And in exchange.e.org we have to edit each object that have cvs
reference to point to the right directory.

Example for penguins module:
http://exchange.enlightenment.org/module/edit/74
Source URL e_modules/penguins - E-MODULES-EXTRA/penguins

[E-devel] [PATCH] Fix CVS-SVN in exchange.e.org

2008-09-17 Thread Massimiliano Calamelli
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

Hi, the attached diff would fix the wrong CVS references in
exchange.e.org
I'm not able to check it on my laptop 'cause my copy of exchange isn't
fully working (i'm checking for errors).
To fix all of the problem reported by Nicolas Aguirre, we also have to
fix the source URL for each object in exchange's db that refers to a
source tree.

My two cents

Imho it is better to move up the Log section, it will increase the

Here's the layout:

[E-devel] exchange library is growing

2008-08-22 Thread Massimiliano Calamelli
Hi all, i'm very happy to say that exchange library is now a little usable.
For those who don't know what is exchange, this library is the client
side of exchange.enlightenment.org , providing a set of API to
interact with the server.

This library now provide:
* a CLI interface (exchange_cli), for shell scripting
* a set of API, for new applications

Here's a cutpaste for the CLI:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ exchange_cli
Usage:
 exchange_cli -local_theme_name theme file
 exchange_cli -local_theme_author theme file
 exchange_cli -local_theme_version theme file
 exchange_cli -local_theme_license theme file
 exchange_cli -local_theme_check_update theme file
 exchange_cli -remote_theme_id theme name
 exchange_cli -remote_theme_author theme name
 exchange_cli -remote_theme_license theme name
 exchange_cli -remote_theme_version theme name
 exchange_cli -remote_theme_description theme name
 exchange_cli -remote_theme_url theme name
 exchange_cli -remote_theme_thumbmnail theme name
 exchange_cli -remote_theme_screenshot theme name
 exchange_cli -remote_theme_user_id theme name
 exchange_cli -remote_theme_created_at theme name
 exchange_cli -remote_theme_updated_at theme name
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

Here's a cutpaste for the API:

// startup/shutdown functions
EAPI int  exchange_init(void);
EAPI int  exchange_shutdown(void);

// local themes functions
EAPI char *exchange_local_theme_name_get(const char *file);
EAPI char *exchange_local_theme_author_get(const char *file);
EAPI char *exchange_local_theme_license_get(const char *file);
EAPI char *exchange_local_theme_version_get(const char *file);
EAPI int  exchange_local_theme_check_update(const char *file);

// remote themes functions
EAPI int  exchange_remote_theme_id_get(const char *theme_name);
EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_author_get(const char *theme_name);
EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_license_get(const char *theme_name);
EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_version_get(const char *theme_name);
EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_description_get(const char *theme_name);
EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_url_get(const char *theme_name);
EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_thumbnail_get(const char *theme_name);
EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_screenshot_get(const char *theme_name);
EAPI int  exchange_remote_theme_user_id_get(const char *theme_name);
EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_created_get(const char *theme_name);
EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_updated_get(const char *theme_name);

I know that there's a lot of work that must be done to complete the
library, but it is usable, uses autofoo, builds without error and
seems (my tests) don't have leaks or segv.
Atm the best use is to check for updates for a theme by the CLI (real example):

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ exchange_cli -remote_theme_version Cerium
Theme: Cerium, version: 1.1
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ exchange_cli -local_theme_version ~/.e/e/themes/cerium.edj
Theme: /home/massi/.e/e/themes/cerium.edj, version: 1.0
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ exchange_cli -local_theme_check_update
~/.e/e/themes/cerium.edj
Theme: /home/massi/.e/e/themes/cerium.edj, update available: YES!

Next steps:
* creating a new function that returns a list of all data related to
remote theme
* complete, for local theme, same work on remote theme (get all data
one by one / list)
* add Doxy
* then follow the guidelines indicated in a thread on e-devel

The code can be found here:
http://staff.get-e.org/?p=users/mcalamelli/exchange.git;a=summary

Here's the feed, to get updates (i'll mail on lists ony for VERY big changes):
RSS - http://staff.get-e.org/?p=users/mcalamelli/exchange.git;a=rss
ATOM - http://staff.get-e.org/?p=users/mcalamelli/exchange.git;a=atom

Feel free to test, use and abuse, and maybe merge in proto... :)

Ciao

Re: [E-devel] exchange library is growing

2008-08-22 Thread Massimiliano Calamelli

 Looks good, but I'd use getopt and different parameters, something like this:

 exchange_cli --theme=theme --request=author
 or: excahgen_cli --request=author theme/target

 making --request lookup the parameter inside a list of actions, this
 will make easier to extend.

Good point, i like getopt, i keep in mind.

 Here's a cutpaste for the API:
 ...
 EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_thumbnail_get(const char *theme_name);
 EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_screenshot_get(const char *theme_name);

 does screenshot and thumbnail download the file or no?

No, only provides the URL.
I've to create separate functions for downloads.
Hmmm, looking at function names, it isn't clear. Good question :)
Better to rename in:
EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_thumbnail_url_get(const char *theme_name);
EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_screenshot_url_get(const char *theme_name);

Sounds good?
Thanks for your reply

That's true, and it is bad. If we want to use it we have to clean up
the aggregated feeds. In fact planet is just a feed aggregator, a very
good feed aggregator, but imho it could be good to have an official E
blog.
Before talking about blog, an idea bout planet: we can split
planet into a localized planets, maybe planet-[it|fr|de|us|au|
etc].e.org . About the blog, it don't replace news section or planet(s),
it is another (modern) way to publish topics ONLY related to E/EFL.
As a platform, i know and use Wordpress.
Pros: easy to use, easy to maintain, modern way to keep users up to date
Cons: another tool to use and maintans.

Hmmm, right, I think I misuse the word blog, you can change it into
a easy and confortable way to put contents into a web site.
For example, if I've something about E to notify, how i can put it into
the news section?
If i'm not wrong, E site is under cvs, so to add an entry i need

I preferred to use #if 0 ... #endif blocks instead of removing code
because these blocks can remains here as placehoders, making easier
add stuffs from exchange library, when it will be usable.

I choose libxml instead of exml because exml doesn't provide a SAX

   - This list should be sorted paginated
   - List should contain name and description, with optional retrieval
 of screenshot, thumbnail and the .edj itself
  - Retrieve a list of apps / modules (same things as above apply)
  - Check for updates for a single theme or a list of themes
  - Check for new themes / apps / modules
  - Rate themes, apps and modules
  - Add / Delete comments
  - Upload / Delete themes
  - Add / Delete apps and modules
  - Provide a mechanism to store what's installed (especially themes,
 so you can check for updates).

This list is a great guideline.

   * the wiki, the bugzilla should appear in the link at the top

 Any more ideas ?

 Vincent

Imho we need an official blog for E.
E planet isn't (actually) good for that because:
0) not publicized
1) it contains only one entry about E

Here's a list of things about the presence of E official blog (sorry for
short sentences, i've to be more clear as possible, and i'm not so
skilled with english).

0) the target audience is mainly new/returning user
1) about backend, i vote for wordpress: easy to install/maintain, easy
and flexible to use
2) it could host an aggregator for E feeds (wiki changes, trac, bugs)
3) it could host a weekly post for cvs commits
4) if a dev make some important changes, it can write a post about it
(better than have only a commit message)
5) it could host a tiptricks section (category)
6) it could host posts about E/EFL in real life (canola,calaos, etc)
7) devs can write out detailed posts about EFL internal tecnologies

New/returning users can see that there's a lot of work in E, and even
if E isn't in a stable release it is more and more than unstable.

 Well, these two reasons aren't exactly good. Your point #0 is easily
 solved by publicizing it on the main page or menu, and #1 is solved by
 getting more people added. The current people on there are either not
 as active in E development as they used to be, or just don't post
 frequently enough.

This is good.

 As far as an official blog goes, I don't really see a compelling
 reason to setup yet another piece of software for maintaining the
 website. Most of the functionality you mentioned should either be a
 part of the website or is solved by more people aggregated posting
 their E related content.

This is a misunderstanding (maybe from me).
I used improperly actually instead of at this moment exposing my
opinion about E planet, sorry, my fault.
What I want to say is that E need a way to be publicized: for external
users (or people out of mailing lists) E could looks like a low
activity project, and this is not really true.
About the way to do that, i dont know how the E website works, but if
we already have powerful tools, that's great, so we can just use.

Thanks for your reply

[E-devel] [PATCH] Theme fetcher

2008-06-30 Thread Massimiliano Calamelli
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi devs, i applied the work on wallpaper fetcher to themes, and with
the attached patch we can get themes directly from get-e.org
The fetcher works on the same way used by wallpaper.
Having ecore with curl support, on Theme selector appears a Online
button, on next dialog click on get-e.org entry, wait for feed parsing
and download of thumbs, then select the theme you want and click OK.
Et voila.

 It's a nice feature and good work. But it would be better if you can
 manage to share some code between Wallpaper and Themes. Anyway we can
 put this in CVS and later refactorise the code.

Hi Cedric!

Good point, a shared code would be better. But at this moment this what
I have, and in the past (see the thread related to wallpaper fetcher,
01/19/2008 on e-devel) there was a little discussion about the presence
of one external application to allow online interaction
(download/upload of contents), so i didn't started to work on shared
code. About shared code: shared library or something that can reside on
E code?

K, now i've a starting point!

 But if nobody wine in the next days, I will put your code in CVS as it
 work quite well (I just didn't found the button in advanced view).

The omission of Online button in advanced view is a choice, i assumed
that the purpose of Advanced dialog is customizing all the parts of a
theme, then i choose to leave out the fetcher button.

[E-devel] [PATCH] More works on ftp upload in ecore_con

2008-06-16 Thread Massimiliano Calamelli
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi devs, the attached patchfile contains my latest work on ftp
upload side of ecore_con.

Changes
* Modified last parameter on ecore_con_ftp_upload, now we can prepend a
path to uploaded file: if you're uploading to ftp://server.com,
setting prepend_dir to other/dir you can upload your file to
ftp://server.com/other/dir
* New function, ecore_con_url_verbose_set: you can enable or disable
libcurl's verbose output (useful for debug)
* New function, ecore_con_url_ftp_use_epsv_set: you can enable or
disable the EPSV command
* Some typo changes on examples at the top of ecore_con_url.c

Regards

Unluckly i'm not able to reply to your question, i just run my test and

upload faster than the CPU can handle are referred to samll device?
I've my ARM9 embedded board, but atm i've no time to crosscc ecore_con

Anyway, many thx for reply.

Hi, attached patch fix the indication of downloaded percentage on

The patch affects only two lines of code (one added and one indented,

 Also, PLEASE try to highlight trailing whitespace and remove them!

For SciTE users, you can set

strip.trailing.spaces=1

in your .SciTEUser.properties file.

In the wiki page mentioned by Gustavo you can find a new (work in
progess) paragraph editing with Scite.

[E-devel] [Little OT] Strengthening Scite for E development

2008-05-05 Thread Massimiliano Calamelli
Hi devs, I marked this message as little OT because it isn't directly
related to E programming, but it is related to Scite editor, and
little addons to make it very useful and cool for E programming.
I'm back to Scite after long times, and now i built some files (in
Scite slang called API file) that enabling calltips and code
completion for EFL, and easily achievable syntax highlight.
Is it hard to explain all steps for my poor english (sigh), here's a
link to translate my blog entry about it:

http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fmcalamelli.netsons.org%2F2008%2F05%2F06%2Fscite-leditor-definitivo%2Flangpair=it%7Cenhl=enie=UTF8

It seems understandable...

Here's some screenshots (last six images):
http://picasaweb.google.com/mcalamelli/Screenshots

Here's API files, my cpp.properties and SciTEUser.properties as
example and a little python script to build a function list for syntax
highlight:

http://staff.get-e.org/?p=users/mcalamelli/scite_e17.git;a=summary

API files are in basic state, it can be improved adding a small
description after closing braces, and it appears on second line of
calltip. I cant find out a way to get descriptions from doxy, if you
know a way to do you're welcome!

Regards

Massimiliano

Libcurl is needed because ecore_con don't allow ftp uploads. I tried to
add ftp upload in ecore_con, but honestly I haven't been able to do :(
I know that's my fault, but i don't see it as a big problem, i can
remove curl code later when ecore_con will be ready to support.

I'm very sorry, but my patch are older than actually cvs status, and

Honestly I didn't think that it could be applied, a long debate about

I'm very sad, but i think it's better to revert my patch.

 Why not just use libxml2 and make the wallpaper_web part optional if the

  Sebastian

I agree, and your idea already are in TODO list, but i don't started
with it for some reasons.
The module is a testbed to see how online stuffs can be improve E's
life, so imho I have to work to make it usable without problems; after
do that, and after seeing what people think about, we can start with
another external application that get online stuffs for themes, icons,
wallpapers, cursors, etc. This kind of app must have a solid backend
library to use to get/put online contents, built by
libxmle/exml/whatever.
Atm i prefer to work to make my module useful instead of change the
parser to use another library (that i've to study), having in mind
that there's an entry for this kind of lib in GSoC ideas page.

I rewrite the parser because i want to add xmlns:media support, and it
was not easy to do.
When it has been done i noticed that the parser goings faster.

2008/3/20, Jose Gonzalez [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

 Ah, good man. You've been thoroughly indoctrinated into
  avoiding the evil influences of 'dependencies' in 'E', now it's
  even for e17 modules!

 Indeed, I wonder how many systems e17 is going to run on
  that have absolutely no trace of any use of xml on them, or that
  don't already have libxml2 installed.
 So, instead, e should have everyone who needs to parse xml
  write their own.. again, and again,... Far better that way.

Hmmm, i think that there'a a lack of understanding. The module i wrote
isn't a module like start or wlan or news, it doesn't reside on
e_modules/ dir, but you can find it into
e17/apps/e/src/modules/conf_wallpaper, hence my desire to avoid
external dependencies.
