[E-devel] Spam pages in Trac
Hello, I just finished to do a big cleanup for spam pages in Trac. I done a similiar job for Trac accounts, removing spam accounts. BTW, handling the Trac users list is very hard, and sometimes isn't clear to understand if an account is a *real* account or a fake. About this, imho should be useful to moderate new registrations in Trac. Massimiliano -- Download Intel#174; Parallel Studio Eval Try the new software tools for yourself. Hello, i removed the permission to create a new page in Trac for registered users to temporary stop the spam in Trac. We need a better way to do that, i know, but atm there's the only way to stop spam pages. Looks like that admins still can create new pages in Trac. I'm sure this won't keep him from doing his work, but I'm still a little disappointed that there is so much discussion about the latest web2.0 services while in the last 2 years there has been less than 30 minutes work on writing for e.org stuff. I confirm that I want to go on, for now; it is too earl for me to see if this test is useful or not. Anyway I'll keep in mind your and other's objection, this discussion is very useful, imho. Before there are any complaints about me complaining and not actually doing stuff: I'd be free to write small news/articles about new stuff in E world (taking from the svn commits and discussion on the ML which I follow). If there won't be a possibility to do this directly on e.org, maybe planet.e.org would be a way if andres improves it like he said. However, with the information being available on twitter this would of course be redundant, so I'm not sure if it's still a good idea. I want to be clear, again. NEWS/ARTICLES/BLOG ARE FUNDAMENTAL FOR OUR COMMUNITY. ANYONE THAT WANTS TO DO THAT ARE WELCOME. And about planet.e.org, it is a good start, but imho we need more than an aggregator, we need something more official, something like a corporate blog. I'm not so skilled about english to do that, i usually write about E in my blog, only in italian language. Last (for now, i've to tweet about latest commits :) ), i think having tweets and posts/articles is not redundant, there are not comparable. If you like RSS feed, you can subcribe to the RSS blog stream, and if you like Twitter, you can start follow our (unofficial) account. There's some redundancy if you follow edevel on twitter AND you subscribe to the RSS stream of this account, but this is not our problem, it is just your choice. Let me do a little example of what i do for my posts (obviously imo this is a good way); ah, note that i'm registered to Twitter (T), FriendFeed (FF) and Facebook (FB). When I write a new post: * FF detects an activity in my RSS stream, got title and URL * FF add this new entry in my streamline * FF shortens the URL, and make a tweet with title and short URL in my T streamline * I linked the T status to the FB status, so every tweet changes my FB status What i got? With one shot I notified all of my contacs that follow me by RSS feed in blog, FF, T and FB. With this little chain I cover four different way to tell to my friends/contacts that i done something new. I'm not saying we have to do that for E, this is sure, it is just to explain because i think the twitter presence non redundant. if raster stops hacking and starts twittering then I'd find out a FUCKING HUGE STICK and beat him to death :-) You'd have to lend me that stick. :) Please be careful about my head :) Massimiliano - -- Massimiliano Calamelli http://www.mcalamelli.net mcalame...@gmail.com -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.7 (MingW32) iD8DBQFKC/b0leGEL56NNP4RAganAJ0VxLXEvyV2ccQAY914E9Pk0JRINACgkw+Z WulMQYH+hfWNBktdpAKW8ds= =gW5K -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- The NEW KODAK i700 Series Scanners deliver under ANY circumstances! I really can't understand why every new hype has to be adopted while the official sources are hardly maintained at all. If you think the news section on e.org should only contain big and important news there would also be the possibility to have a source for minor informations (e.g. blog style on blog.enlightenment.org or whatever). Or maybe better: have 2 sections on the e.org overview site, let's say news for everything new (even minor things) and announcements for all the big stuff (e.g. e17 release!!11 :). I agree with you, but I know that most of potentially authors don't have free time for writing articles Once you have a blog application, I don't see the need for Twitter. Essentially, each tweet is like the RSS summary to an article that you're going to link to in the tweet. Just following the RSS feed of the blog has the same effect. The only benefit I see to twitter is in knowing how many followers you have. But you could just use web analytics software on your blog application if you're really interested in this. Disagree. The problem is not the parsing of xml stream, but the download of the stream. I used the libxml's internal url fopen wrapper to open the stream, imho we can have some benefit switching to ecore_file_download + parsing the saved file. 2008/12/9, Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri [EMAIL PROTECTED]: On Tue, Dec 9, 2008 at 1:11 PM, Dave Andreoli [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: - Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri [EMAIL PROTECTED] ha scritto: On Tue, Dec 9, 2008 at 12:25 AM, Enlightenment SVN [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Log: * Use the new Exchange Smart Object in the E17 theme dialog (if exchange is installed) couple of comments: - as I reported to you the other day on irc, rating stars are over text description. So the question is: why the textblock will render br differently on your machine? maybe we are using a different font? Someone else have the same problem? this is weird. as for the number of objects, for suche a small dialog, it shouldn't matter that much. - delay heavy operations before dialog is displayed. I'm working for a new nonblocking approach, will be up asap. if xml is big, you can send it to a thread... I guess libxml has no problems with that, just be sure to use no EFL calls there (including eina for now). BUT, why not use EET for files?! That would explore the potential of this nice format! Is it configurable? I have looked, but have found no way to have a double click on a directory open in that windows, vs opening a new window. [E-devel] exchange library is growing
Hi all, i'm very happy to say that exchange library is now a little usable. For those who don't know what is exchange, this library is the client side of exchange.enlightenment.org , providing a set of API to interact with the server. This library now provide: * a CLI interface (exchange_cli), for shell scripting * a set of API, for new applications Here's a cutpaste for the CLI: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ exchange_cli Usage: exchange_cli -local_theme_name theme file exchange_cli -local_theme_author theme file exchange_cli -local_theme_version theme file exchange_cli -local_theme_license theme file exchange_cli -local_theme_check_update theme file exchange_cli -remote_theme_id theme name exchange_cli -remote_theme_author theme name exchange_cli -remote_theme_license theme name exchange_cli -remote_theme_version theme name exchange_cli -remote_theme_description theme name exchange_cli -remote_theme_url theme name exchange_cli -remote_theme_thumbmnail theme name exchange_cli -remote_theme_screenshot theme name exchange_cli -remote_theme_user_id theme name exchange_cli -remote_theme_created_at theme name exchange_cli -remote_theme_updated_at theme name [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ Here's a cutpaste for the API: // startup/shutdown functions EAPI int exchange_init(void); EAPI int exchange_shutdown(void); // local themes functions EAPI char *exchange_local_theme_name_get(const char *file); EAPI char *exchange_local_theme_author_get(const char *file); EAPI char *exchange_local_theme_license_get(const char *file); EAPI char *exchange_local_theme_version_get(const char *file); EAPI int exchange_local_theme_check_update(const char *file); // remote themes functions EAPI int exchange_remote_theme_id_get(const char *theme_name); EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_author_get(const char *theme_name); EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_license_get(const char *theme_name); EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_version_get(const char *theme_name); EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_description_get(const char *theme_name); EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_url_get(const char *theme_name); EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_thumbnail_get(const char *theme_name); EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_screenshot_get(const char *theme_name); EAPI int exchange_remote_theme_user_id_get(const char *theme_name); EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_created_get(const char *theme_name); EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_updated_get(const char *theme_name); I know that there's a lot of work that must be done to complete the library, but it is usable, uses autofoo, builds without error and seems (my tests) don't have leaks or segv. Atm the best use is to check for updates for a theme by the CLI (real example): [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ exchange_cli -remote_theme_version Cerium Theme: Cerium, version: 1.1 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ exchange_cli -local_theme_version ~/.e/e/themes/cerium.edj Theme: /home/massi/.e/e/themes/cerium.edj, version: 1.0 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ exchange_cli -local_theme_check_update ~/.e/e/themes/cerium.edj Theme: /home/massi/.e/e/themes/cerium.edj, update available: YES! Next steps: * creating a new function that returns a list of all data related to remote theme * complete, for local theme, same work on remote theme (get all data one by one / list) * add Doxy * then follow the guidelines indicated in a thread on e-devel The code can be found here: http://staff.get-e.org/?p=users/mcalamelli/exchange.git;a=summary Here's the feed, to get updates (i'll mail on lists ony for VERY big changes): RSS - http://staff.get-e.org/?p=users/mcalamelli/exchange.git;a=rss ATOM - http://staff.get-e.org/?p=users/mcalamelli/exchange.git;a=atom Feel free to test, use and abuse, and maybe merge in proto... :) Ciao Massimiliano - This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100url=/ ___ enlightenment-devel mailing list enlightenment-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/enlightenment-devel
Re: [E-devel] exchange library is growing
2008/8/22 Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Looks good, but I'd use getopt and different parameters, something like this: exchange_cli --theme=theme --request=author or: excahgen_cli --request=author theme/target making --request lookup the parameter inside a list of actions, this will make easier to extend. Good point, i like getopt, i keep in mind. Here's a cutpaste for the API: ... EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_thumbnail_get(const char *theme_name); EAPI char *exchange_remote_theme_screenshot_get(const char *theme_name); does screenshot and thumbnail download the file or no? But at this moment this what I have, and in the past (see the thread related to wallpaper fetcher, 01/19/2008 on e-devel) there was a little discussion about the presence of one external application to allow online interaction (download/upload of contents), so i didn't started to work on shared code. [E-devel] [Little OT] Strengthening Scite for E development
Hi devs, I marked this message as little OT because it isn't directly related to E programming, but it is related to Scite editor, and little addons to make it very useful and cool for E programming. I'm back to Scite after long times, and now i built some files (in Scite slang called API file) that enabling calltips and code completion for EFL, and easily achievable syntax highlight. Is it hard to explain all steps for my poor english (sigh), here's a link to translate my blog entry about it: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fmcalamelli.netsons.org%2F2008%2F05%2F06%2Fscite-leditor-definitivo%2Flangpair=it%7Cenhl=enie=UTF8 It seems understandable... Here's some screenshots (last six images): http://picasaweb.google.com/mcalamelli/Screenshots Here's API files, my cpp.properties and SciTEUser.properties as example and a little python script to build a function list for syntax highlight: http://staff.get-e.org/?p=users/mcalamelli/scite_e17.git;a=summary API files are in basic state, it can be improved adding a small description after closing braces, and it appears on second line of calltip. I cant find out a way to get descriptions from doxy, if you know a way to do you're welcome! Re: [E-devel] [PATCH] more works and fixes for wallpaper fetcher
2008/3/21, Sebastian Dransfeld [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Why not just use libxml2 and make the wallpaper_web part optional if the user has libxml2? Sebastian I agree, and your idea already are in TODO list, but i don't started with it for some reasons. The module is a testbed to see how online stuffs can be improve E's life, so imho I have to work to make it usable without problems; after do that, and after seeing what people think about, we can start with another external application that get online stuffs for themes, icons, wallpapers, cursors, etc. This kind of app must have a solid backend library to use to get/put online contents, built by libxmle/exml/whatever. Atm i prefer to work to make my module useful instead of change the parser to use another library (that i've to study), having in mind that there's an entry for this kind of lib in GSoC ideas page. 2008/3/20, dan sinclair [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Why write our own when libxml2 works quite well? Seems like needless NIH to me. dan The module lives inside E, so i think isn't good to add another dependecy for E. Massimiliano - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. 2008/3/20, dan sinclair [EMAIL PROTECTED]: I'm assuming that they'd love some performance related patches. Writing something from scratch isn't a good response to a performance issue unless there is some fundamental reason you can't make it faster/better. dan I rewrite the parser because i want to add xmlns:media support, and it was not easy to do. When it has been done i noticed that the parser goings faster. Massimiliano - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Re: [E-devel] [PATCH] more works and fixes for wallpaper fetcher
2008/3/20, Jose Gonzalez [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Ah, good man. You've been thoroughly indoctrinated into avoiding the evil influences of 'dependencies' in 'E', now it's even for e17 modules! Indeed, I wonder how many systems e17 is going to run on that have absolutely no trace of any use of xml on them, or that don't already have libxml2 installed. So, instead, e should have everyone who needs to parse xml write their own.. again, and again,... Far better that way. Hmmm, i think that there'a a lack of understanding. The module i wrote isn't a module like start or wlan or news, it doesn't reside on e_modules/ dir, but you can find it into e17/apps/e/src/modules/conf_wallpaper, hence my desire to avoid external dependencies.
