[e-users] e17 on debian

2005-09-02 Thread Jason Edson
Right now I'm using the .deb's from shadoi (which are great and I
currently mirror) but I'm just curious what packages I need to compile
e17 from cvs. Like what -dev packages and automake and what not. I'm
not sure if theres a list somewhere so if someone could point me in the
right direction it would make me a very happy man. Thanks for the help
and keep up the good work.

Re: [e-users] Random WM Crashes

2005-09-02 Thread Jim Summers
Hello,

I had a crash while having gdb attached. Here is the info that gdb gave
when I went to the console after e stopped responding:
---
Detaching after fork from child process 11482.
Detaching after fork from child process 11562.
Detaching after fork from child process 11638.
Detaching after fork from child process 11751.
Detaching after fork from child process 11946.

Program received signal SIGABRT, Aborted.
[Switching to Thread -1208502560 (LWP 11344)]
0x00ee4402 in ?? ()
---
Before quitting gdb I checked the pids listed. They were the processes
I had running when this bad thing happened, gnome-terminal, xmms,
thunderbird, firefox, etc...

Then when I quit gdb my login is killed and the greeter comes back. I
simply login and start over.

This is happening on my desktop at work, my laptop, and a test machine
also here at work. The laptop has ATI and stock xorg drivers, desktop
has nvidia card and drivers, the test machine has nvidia card but xorg
drivers. The only common thing is all are running FC4 and e17 installed
from the rpm version of e17.

Not sure where to start debugging. Nothing in Xorg.0.log or messages.

TIA,
jim

Yeah, I've used various (excellent) .deb's, too, but in the end, I ended
up recompiling all of it myself because of my impatient being.

I'm not sure what you mean. Don't you basically just start off and just
go from there? The compiling process always tells you what you lack. No
human-made list can beat that in absolute helpfulness: it will make sure
you install nothing you don't need. :-)

[e-users] changing font size problem

2005-09-02 Thread Xiaoyang Gu
hi

I am using debian sid and i install e17 from "deb
http://soulmachine.net/debian unstable/". I got ICE_2005 theme from
get-e.org. All works fine, but the font size of title bar and menu is
two small, so i extract the theme and change the font size in
default_borad.edc from 10 to 13, then recompiled it. The font size
became bigger, but some characters couldn't be displayed. They can be
displayed when using the original ICE_2005 theme, and they are Chinese
characters.

Detailed information: Debian Sid, zh_CN.UTF-8 locale.

What's the reason of this problem? Is there any method to solve the problem?

 Thanks a lot.

[e-users] Re-creating Default .eap and .order Files

2005-09-02 Thread David P. Donahue
Whenever E crashes (I don't have any debugging output, sorry... how do I
enable that so I can send it to you guys?), restarting it always results
in putting the default .eap and .order file/folder structure back in

there a way to make it not do that?

What an application is it?
I run several KDE/QT/Gnome/GTK apps from within e17 and can't remember
ever had problems with fonts.

In KDE's control center there's a setting somewhere applying kde-setted
fonts to non kde-apps, at least I believe I read something like this...

Because xterm runs the command under a shell. For efficiency, Eterm
does not.

Eterm --pause -e df

Or use something like Eterm -e /bin/sh -c "df ; read -n 1"

sig abort? ugh. um. the only 2 aborts in any of efl thaty could be called are
called ONLY when your system runs out of memory - entirely - that means all of
ram and swap used and e cannto alloc a few bytes for a cache entry. it would
printf its error just before that abort, so something else is sending e an ABRT
signal i suspect or calling abort in a lower library. this is weird. you don't
seem to have compiled with gdb debugging (CFLAGS=-g) - and you shoudl give us
backtraces too. see my email a few weeks ago to e-ursers (search the archvies
for gdb and valgrind) where i give a detailed howto on debugging.

this is certainly not a segv. it's something else. get us a backtrace to be
certain where this abort is coming from and compile with gdb debugging - but
this is suspicious...

[e-users] Lost E17 border

2005-09-02 Thread Pat Harazin
Heyas,

Recently, I was messing around with border settings on
MPlayer (fullscreening and whatnot), and in the
process I somehow managed to globally eliminate
borders in all applications run in E17. Now, I was
being a bit of a wimp and doing everything through the
options on the titlebar, which is now conveniently
lost. Sorry if it's a trivial question, but where
should I look to reconfigure it so that I can get
borders again.

More broadly, where is/are the config file/s I should
look that has/have the options for window borders? Is
there a global one?

The application is Navicat MySQL client... This is the first application I have
had with
this problem.

I thought that there was something like that as well, Seems to me I saw it not
to
long ago now I can't find it anywhere.

Thanks... I'll muck around with it for awhile hopefully I'll find something
that fixes the
problem

[e-users] euphoria :: LoadError :: require "ecore"

2005-09-02 Thread B S Srinidhi
Hello all,

I'm facing a problem with euphoria. Whenever I start euphoria, I get
this error:

/usr/local/bin/euphoria:5:in `require': No such file to load -- ecore
(LoadError)
from /usr/local/bin/euphoria:5

Am I missing some Ruby module for ecore or something?

Srinidhi.

any time you will have a chance to look in the mirror,
ask yourself if you could start to like what you see.

You can try ALT and right-click to get the menu that you're used to -
this should work anywhere in an application window.

I'm not quite sure. Everything is underneath the ~/.e folder. I know
that ~/.e/e/config/default/e.cfg has stuff about 'locks' ... you can try
deleting this and restarting E. I'm just a lowly user :)
