Event Sink problems

2003-08-11 Thread Berry Schreuder
Hello,

I am trying to register an event sink on a calendar folder in a mailbox. I
have used this command:

C:\>cscript regevent.vbs add onSyncDelete OfficeCalendar.SyncEvents
file://./backofficestorage/exchangedemo.local/mbx/Berry/calendar

It then produces the following output:

Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host Version 5.6
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 1996-2001. All rights reserved.

Error Opening Record : -2147217768 Object cannot be created at this URL
because
an object named by this URL already exists.

I've searched on both 2147217768 and 0x80040e98 (hex value) in the
Knowledge Base and in Google (newsgroups)

I run the script on an Exchange 2003 server on Windows Server 2003. I am
logged on as Domain Administrator and have full permissions on that
specific user's mailbox

Suggestions anyone?

Subject: Creating test lab - advice on process?

Hi all,
I'm currently creating a test lab for my Exchange 5.5 to E2K/E2K3
migration. We are a single AD domain shop, with a single Exchange server
(thus single site).

Currently, I've:
 - Setup a AD DC on production
 - Setup DNS secondary on said box
 - Let it sync nice a good
 - Taken it offline, seized FSMO roles
 - Change DNS from secondary to primary

What I've left to do
 - Setup a Win2k SP4 box as domain member
 - Install Exchange 5.5 SP4 with same parameters as production environment
 - Restore DS and IS

My testing will begin with the DS cleanup utilities and the ADC. I will
then move to setting up a third box with Win2k3 and Exchange 2k3, and add it
the Exchange 5.5 organization. I'll move the mailboxes and public folders
over, then test test test. I'll then be running through the process of
removing the Exchange 5.5 server and switching over to native mode.

So, oh wise masters of Exchange, is this a sound plan? Is there anything I
should watch out for or be aware of? This is just a test environment, so
I'm not going to hose anything vital.

OWA Viewing Error

2003-08-11 Thread Alex Alborzfard

When I try to access email via OWA, after entering the mailbox name
And then domain\user name and password, I get the "Unable to get renderer"
error.
When I click on OK, it loads the OWA mailbox page but without showing the
emails and
It displays this header:

"Page cannot be displayed. There is a problem within the page you are trying
to reach
 and it cannot be displayed"

The strange thing is that it doesn't happen when you load a new browser
window,
but if you log out and log back in, you'll get the error message.

Thanks

Re: Strange Exchange

2003-08-11 Thread Chris Scharff
Again, as per the last message you posted and I responded to, this error is
not being generated by Exchange. It is being generated by whatever is
listening at your default gateway. Your mx record may be labeled
exchange.satake-usa.com, but whatever is listening isn't Exchange.

nslookup

Authoritative answers can be found from:
satake-usa.com nameserver = ns2.satake-usa.com

Whatever is listening does indeed have a storage limit.

I'm not sure why 30 seconds of research is not possible by anyone else on
the list this morning, but the answer seems abundantly clear once one stops
throwing out wild guesses and actually applies some kind of methodology to
troubleshooting.

there is some other software running between my exchange server and the

Does anyone have a problem running Trend Micro Server
Protect with E2K? We have a E2K server would not mount
Priv1.edb store. This problem occured last week and we
isolated it to Trend Micro Server Protect. Everytime we
enabled Trend Micro Server Protect, E2K crashed (i.e.
priv1.edb would not mount). We had not change anything on
the server. Trend Server Protect has been on our E2K for
the last three years without a problem. Event logs showed
the followings:

System Log Error 7031 the RPC service terminated
unexpectedly.

Application log error 9099 the MAD monitoring thread was
unable to read the state of services

Application log error 9097 The Mad monitoring thread was
unable to connect ot WMI 0x8007005 (This last error 9087
repeated every 5 minutes until the problem was correct.)

Application log error 4097 COM+ event system detected a
bad return code 8007005 (this error recurs at each
attempted log on).

Thanks in advance.

The SMTP Virtual Servers don't have any limits either?

There are three places for message size limits

- Org-level under Global Settings/Message Delivery
- User-level in the user properties
- SMTP in the virtual SMTP server settings

You have 12 GB of disk space left, but is that on the partition where
SMTP Virtual Server has its queue files (by default the queue partition
is where Exchange program files are installed)? Just asking, maybe your
queue partition is low on disk space.

started happening but I do know I use to be able to receive any size
files. Is there another settings somewhere I have missed? It appears to
be limiting e-mail to around 2 meg max and is applying the same rule to
the entire exchange server.

Thanks,
dl

It will work. Its by design.

Not too sure that will work. The E2K servers are in AD will the 5.5 servers
are not. Also, the E2K servers are in a new Exchange ORG.

Leave up the old Ex5.5 server for a little while. Outlook will see that
it's mailbox has moved to a new server, and update the profile itself.

Subject: E2K migration issue

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone out there knew of way to script Outlook profile
changes. We are doing an E2K migration and I am looking for a way to
automate the changes to the users Outlook profile.

We are building out brand new E2K servers and exporting/importing all the
mail from 5.5 to the E2K servers and need to point the users at the new
servers.

RE: Upgrade of FE to E2K3

You always have to upgrade FEs first

-For front-end and back-end servers that are in the same administrative
group, you must upgrade the front-end servers to Exchange 2003 (or
install Exchange 2003 on the front-end server) before you upgrade the
back-end server to Exchange 2003 (or install Exchange 2003 on the
back-end server).

Does this include bringing in a completely differnet and new server into
the group (swing method) or do I definitly need to upgrade our FE to 2k3
before adding our first 2k3 server to the Admin Group? Thanks.

RE: Delivery of all messages to admin (paranoia central)

2003-08-11 Thread Carmila Fresco
You can set the delivery options for his account to forward to his
secretary and deliver messages to both forwarding and mailbox.

I guess you can do the same thing for all users in his domain (have it
forward to his mailbox) although it's probably violating privacy laws.

I have a client whom we are going to move to exchange 2000/3. He is
accustomed to having all email incoming and outgoing to have 2 copies
delivered to him and 1 copy delivered to his secretary (don't ask me).
So no matter who the email is for if it has his domain on the address he
wants to see it (perhaps it's a spam fetish).
Does any one have any ideas on how to pull this off in exchange. I know
I can create client rules but those can be turned off.
Thanx.

RE: Looking for POP3 Spam solution

2003-08-11 Thread Martin Blackstone
Well, the filter is still going to need to download the mail to examine it.
So I don't really see this as being any type of workable solution unless the
guy wants to put an SMTP gateway and mail server in his house.

This is for mail outside my organization. My boss has a personal email
account with an isp that he checks via http.
