LDAP delete on Exchange 5.5 directory
Hi, Does an LDAP delete operation on one of the recipient entries in Exchange Directory Store only delete the directory data and not the corresponding information store resources? If so, then what is the best method to delete a mailbox entry in Exchange 5.5 directory server? Also, when I add a mailbox entry from an LDAP client and not through the Exchange Administration console, then do information store resources get allocated for the same? Thanks in advance, Rajalakshmi Iyer List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm
problem with OWA
Hello all, I have a small problem with OWA and 1 user, he keeps getting access denied and in the eventlog i see that there is no such user or bad password. Now when he logs on OWA from his office he has no problems at all, using the same login/password. The only difference there is, is that it failed when he tried it from UK and Belgium, both using MSIE 5.0. The Ex2k server is in the Netherlands and over here and in Germany he had no problem logging on using OWA, I think the IE 5.0 is the problem but I am not sure. When i go to OWA, I use the same URL as he does, but I get a domainbox and he does not (not that it must be used, but still), I am using IE 6.0. Any ideas? Recovery question
Exchange 5.5 SP4 on W2K Sp1 You have a server in a multi-server site, that is not the first server. The server falls in a river for a float test. You rebuild the server and restore the info store. Will the new server's directory be updated by another server in the site. If so, it it safe to say that it would be smart to always keep more than one server in a site for just this sort of situation? Do you have to KCC to kick this off. Thanks in advance, Tom List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm

Maybe this is an Exchange Issue
Good afternoon, Outlook 98 Exchange 5.5 SP4 I have a user that is asking the following and I haven't a clue where to begin: Original Work history couldn't find how to change the default, although I know that my default for this is busy. Debbie called to inquire when scheduling an all day appointment the default comes up as '' free '' and she has to manually select ''busy ''. She is inquiring if there is an option that when this prompt comes up the default would show as '' busy ''. Please assist. Thanks! Have a great holiday season. Prevent the use of PST
Does anyone know of a way to prevent users from adding and using PSt's on outlook configurations that have already been deployed? DL with custom recipients only?
Scenario: I would like to setup a Distribution List that contains about 500-1000 people. These people would not Exchange email accounts, but just regular SMTP accounts. I figured I could just create 500 custom recipient email accounts and add all those accounts to a DL, which works, but, then my GAL fills up with 500 smtp email accounts that I do NOT want to show up. Is it possible to HIDE a custom recipient account from the GAL but still use it in a DL? I tried hiding them from the GAL, but then I couldn't add them to the DL anymore. Thanks... Cannot open pst file
Hi Guys I've been through the archives because I'm sure this has come up before but I can't find it. Basically whats happened is that a new user has arrived onsite with a CD which contains a .pst file with all his old mail in it. When he tries to connect the pst file as a personal folder he gets the error message File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file .. Anyone know how to get round this. Like I say I'm sure I've seen this answered before but its getting near xmas and my brain has decided to go into holiday mode already Cheers Dougie List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm

Outlook needs both read and write access to the PST. So, you have to copy the PST from the CD to the hard drive and make sure the read only attribute is not set on the file. mit freundlichen Grüßen,(Best Regards), Steve Ropiak ZF Group NAO CERT, Exchange and Bar Code Administrator (207) 989-9115 voice (207) 989-8722 fax (513) 317-0197 cell [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: Dougie Coull [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, December 17, 2001 2:05 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: Cannot open pst file Hi Guys I've been through the archives because I'm sure this has come up before but I can't find it. RE: SMTP (Telnet) from the command line: Exchange 5.5
Yeah, but when I telnet to a mail server on port 25, and do that smtp mail bit, then check the recipient's mail, I get the note but with a blank subject and empty content pane. I've wondered about that. After I enter DATA, thenI type the message lines, then do the [CRLF "." CRLF] upon which it sends the message. But none of that stuff I typed shows up in the note. Off topic Win 2k issue.
Does anyone have some sort of hack tool that will allow you to change the local admin password on a workstation and get into the OS? We took a machine off the domain but didn't realize that the local admin password was not set to the company default password. Also is there is way to just load the windows 2k cd in and restart the pc and have it so that it only does a reinstall and does not format the drive? RE: SMTP (Telnet) from the command line: Exchange 5.5
OK, that worked - I got a subject line. I did several tests trying to get the body of the message. The only one that gave me every line was when I entered a blank line after the subject line. E.g.: telnet mail.mydomain.com 25 helo bob... mail from:[EMAIL PROTECTED] rcpt to:[EMAIL PROTECTED] data subject:Test smtp mail with subject line enter First line of message body That's all, folks. Network browsing using Windows 2000 Professional
Hello everyone, I'm having a problem with Windows 2000 Professional when browsing the network for shared folders. Specifically, on a server holding over 10,000 design files (roughly 20kb each in size). It's taking anywhere from 30 to 40 seconds to pull up the files on the screen. However, if I go to a Windows 95 machine and browse the network to the same folder, it brings it up in about 3 to 4 seconds. Any suggestions???
