RE: Delegating OOF management
Do your users have OWA access?? If so why not show them how to set the OOF message from the OWA page then they can do it themselves remotely. However Exchange Permission Manager may enable you to give these people the access they need From: Travis Robinson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 15 January 2008 18:39 To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: Delegating OOF management Hello, Scenario: We have an offsite location which is two hours ahead of my location. When they have someone call in sick for the day, they want to be able to go in and change the Out of Office message for the person calling in. One problem being they want about 10 people to have the ability to change these for about 100 employees. I know I can give them the permission to do this, but don't want to give them too much access and I don't want to do this for 100 people. Delegates don't work for this issue. Right now, I tell them to call the helpdesk and I'll make the changes when I get in, but they're concerned about the 2 hour delay. Is there a program that can accomplish this? What would the best way to handle this so it can be changed in a timely manner without giving access to everyone's e-mail? Is it possible to sync a public folder calendar to a WM5 device? We currently use Activesync to access Exchange, but now they want to sync the unit's shared calendar. OT: BES Exchange 2007
Doing my first BES Express install and ran into a common snag I haven't found a working answer to yet. I got BES Express 4.1.4 installed on a separate box from our Exchange 2007 server. I have one user that I added. He's stuck at initializing. Event logs show: [EMAIL PROTECTED] MAPIMailbox::CreateSearchFolder - Open folder failed (0x80070005) failed So I researched and found KB 12483 on the Blackberry site. Followed that. However, when I get to the 2nd part - step 3 - I get a blank list. So I redo step 2 (the send as/receive as/admin info store). I get: Appropriate ACE is already present on object CN=EPS-EXCHANGE,CN=Servers,CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT),CN=Administrative Groups,CN=epstei natlanta,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=epsteinatlanta,DC=org for account EPSTEINATLANTA\BESAdmin. Exchange Best Practices Analyzer Update 2.8
Exchange Best Practices Analyzer Update 2.8 Posted by Steven Bink on January 16 2008, 11:03 AM This download contains the latest XML and ExBPA.chm files. Use this package to update your existing installation of the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer. NOTE: If Internet connectivity is available, the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer will attempt to automatically update itself from the Internet. Where updates are being applied automatically, there is no need to download the Web Update Pack. To find out which version of ExBPA.Config.xml is installed on your computer, click the 'About Exchange Best Practices Analyzer' link within the tool. The upper version number refers to the core application (e.g. 2.9.7926.0), the lower version is for the configuration XML file. I?ve known that it could take just a little bit of time (15 minutes generally at the most) for the AD account to replicate to the server that RUS runs against, but then the e-mail addresses specified (for me the SMTP, CCMAIL, MS, and X400) in the Recipient Policy should generate the e-mail address at that time. I created the accounts about an hour and a half ago and the e-mail addresses still haven?t populated. I?ve gone into ESM and told the Recipient Policy to apply now with no luck, then told RUS to update now, still with no luck, and now I?ve told RUS to rebuild, no luck yet, but if I believe the warning message it can take several hours. I?ve checked the logs on my Exchange server and there are no errors (save a couple of NDRs and a pair of MAPI session issues earlier in the day). I?ve also checked the logs on my domain controller that RUS runs against and there I don?t see anything in the logs that indicates that I should be having this issue. Does anyone have any ideas for next steps on troubleshooting? ~ Ninja Email Security with Cloudmark Spam Engine Gets Image Spam ~ ~ http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Ninja~

Ok, so my answer is sketchy. What I am getting to is, does the client roam? Office online, offline, broken?
We just rolled out Exchange 2003 company wide. I have all our Outlook clients setup to use cached mode. I am getting a bunch of reports from our helpdesk about outlook switching from Online to Offline and not switching back until you manual tell it to switch. I have never used Outlook in cached mode before. Is this a common thing? My understanding is that Outlook should switch right back to online mode once the connection has been restored. Is there a setting for how often Outlook tries to re-establish connection to get back online once it switches to offline mode? How To Renew VeriSign SSL Certificate of OWA ?
Hello there, It's the first time for us to renew VeriSign certificate. I read this article from Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295329, but I don't understand why one has to create a new site before renew it. RE: How To Renew VeriSign SSL Certificate of OWA ?
Is this for OWA on your Exchange server? If so, guys here recently pointed me to http://certificatesforexchange.com. It's MUCH less expensive than Verisign and just a good. If you're doing business transaction on the site you may wish to stick with Verisign for the reputation and recognition. I read this article from Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295329, but I don't understand why one has to create a new site before renew it. Anyone knows the exact steps or a link where we can find details? We use IIS60, and Exchange 2003 OWA. RE: Outlook 2003 Delegate
Thanks for this. What I did for now was have them add the delegate back, strip her permissions down to purely Reviewer for the calendar (which she has now) removing all checkboxes that would send meeting notices to her. Waiting to here is that fixes the problem. If it does, we'll let it sit for a while before trying to remove her permanently again. He has removed her from the delegates tab, yet she still get's meeting requests. Any ideas on how to clear that? I have tried re-adding her, and then removing a couple times now. RE: Office online, offline, broken?
Matt, This is not normal behavior. From my experience, when a client loses their network connection Outlook typically reconnects automatically when the connection is restored. If the client manually sets their session to Offline then it would require manually switching it back online. -Original Message- From: Steve Moffat [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Exchange (Sunbelt) Sent: Wednesday, January 16, 2008 3:42 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: Office online, offline, broken? Interestingly, in Windows Server 2008, you create and renew certificates at the Web Server level; not the Web Site level. In other words, it is finally at the proper place. Regards, Michael B. Re: Office online, offline, broken?
For most cases I know why its going offline. We have a lot of remote sites with maxed bandwidth.I have had this reported a few times on my LAN which *shouldn't have bandwidth issues (unless someone decided to start playing with p2p stuff.) Thanks for the input i'll started digging deeper. Matt On Jan 16, 2008 3:41 PM, Exchange (Sunbelt) [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I would try to find out why it's going offline in the first place. You still assign an individual cert to one or more sites (as in the case of a UCC or wildcard cert), but as you say, the management is at the server level. Regards, Michael B.
