Windows 7 x64 Outlook Web Access Woes
Evening All one of our 'home' workers has bought a new laptop Windows 7 Home x64 i can set the VPN up successfully so that she can ping the exchange server however i keep getting page cannot be displayed when she tries to access the Exchange server via OWA Server is Windows 2003 server std SP2 32bit MS Exchange 2003 std SP2 I have done some googling and there is apparently hotfix KB911829 that should be applied to resolve this i believe that i have applied this hot fix as the various dlls mentioned are at a later version than are listed in the hotfix description page here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=911829 but still getting page cannot be displayed at the client end does anybody have any pointers? all clients on Win32 machines can connect properly - the user account has been tested on Win32 and logs in successfully thanks Laurence --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe exchangelist

RE: Problems with Blackberry Enterprise Express..
I beg to differ. An account operator can log into a DC and shut it down. A print operator can log into ANY server and shut it down. If an account has control over a server - then the account is a high privilege account, in my book. This is over and above what you may consider their primary reasons for existence. I don't recommend using any of the built in groups. Use Delegation. That's what it's for - and you can know exactly what you've delegated. The built-in groups are primarily a carry-over from NT4 - when there was no such thing as delegation. Regards, Michael B. Anyone working for a Healthcare provider experienced this?
So my boss was reviewing the CMS Readiness Checklist for 2010 (yeah, I know it is nearly 2011) and came across this: Ensure effective security of all beneficiary information, whether in paper or electronic format. Measures to protect the security and privacy of personally identifiable information (PII) that should be taken by organizations include, but are not limited to, ensuring that: * Data files are not saved on public or private computers when accessing corporate e‐mail through the internet. He is wondering if this means we need to come up with some clever way to prevent OWA from downloading/viewing attachments, or if he is misinterpreting it. To me, this does indeed mean that we should not be allowing our employees access to OWA, however I could take it one step further and say that this says I should not be able to access email attachments remotely at all. No VPN access, no Blackberry, no nothing - after all, this data travels over the Internet in one form or another. Just curious if anyone else on the list works for a healthcare company and has seen this. RE: Anyone working for a Healthcare provider experienced this?
My wife works for a health care provider, and I have worked some contracts in several NOC's, but I have never heard of a policy imposed like the one that you listed. I am sure that there is a policy in place, but I have never seen it to this extent. RE: Windows 7 x64 Outlook Web Access Woes
One thing I have found that will solve weird problems with a machine below professional when connecting with a domain is to change the workgroup name to the name of your domain. Is OWA access allowed outside of your network? If so, can the user connect successfully to OWA without the VPN active? One thing I have been trying to do is to get my clients to set minimum standards for user owned home machines in order to be allowed access to the company network. There seems to be a high degree of resistance in the market we service to something like this. Another factor may have to do with the local machine's firewall. Check the settings. I had a connection problem with a person's home machine. I did this, I did that, I did the other thing, and nothing was working. I was convinced it was a firewall problem, but all the proper pots were open. Then, out of nowhere, another A/V program popped up to the surface. Turned out he had two A/V programs installed. Uninstalled one, and problem miraculously disappeared. User had no idea how the other A/V got on the machine--yeah, right! \\Steve// -Original Message- From: Laurence Childs [mailto:laurence.chi...@btinternet.com] Sent: Monday, November 22, 2010 12:22 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: Windows 7 x64 Outlook Web Access Woes Evening All one of our 'home' workers has bought a new laptop Windows 7 Home x64 i can set the VPN up successfully so that she can ping the exchange server however i keep getting page cannot be displayed when she tries to access the Exchange server via OWA Server is Windows 2003 server std SP2 32bit MS Exchange 2003 std SP2 I have done some googling and there is apparently hotfix KB911829 that should be applied to resolve this i believe that i have applied this hot fix as the various dlls mentioned are at a later version than are listed in the hotfix description page here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=911829 but still getting page cannot be displayed at the client end does anybody have any pointers? all clients on Win32 machines can connect properly - the user account has been tested on Win32 and logs in successfully thanks Laurence --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe exchangelist
