RE: Rules on e2k3 ent
Thanks for the hints, we had to run mfcmapi and delete some corrupted rules which fixed the issue. She was so freaked by this that she was afraid to tell anyone and was convinced the deceased employee was somehow haunting her. It was only when I noticed the message in her inbox, while addressing a different issue, that she let me know this had been going on for six months. RE: Need advice with 03 Filtering
Did you turn off the filtering in the SMTP connector for the e2k3 box? I think you have to restart the service too afterwards .. Even though you may have whitelisted yourself who knows what the filter is doing bound to smtp .. turn it all off. They tell me they have always had problems with random emails not being received. Sender resends and they get it. So I pointed their primary MX to my Barracuda and had it then deliver their mail over our VPN link to their server. This gives me ability to see exactly what is received and delivered. So yesterday they show me an email re-sent to them that shows it was originally sent earlier and not received. I find the original email in my Barracuda and it shows successfully delivered to their server. Nothing is their junk email in outlook and no one received it. I have all our IP's, domain, etc white listed on their SBS server so nothing from us should be getting blocked. Even before when their primary MX was on their IP they would miss emails from us and we were white listed. Am I missing something else? I've never used the built in filtering in Exchange before and am not to familiar with it. The advanced settings on the SMTP Virtual Server properties shows that only connection filtering is being used. It's to the point where I'm going to stick my old Barracuda, before I went to the virtual appliance version, on their IP (which is now their secondary MX) and turn off all filtering on the server. --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe exchangelist --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe exchangelist
RE: Need advice with 03 Filtering
I would go into the global settings, and make sure your IP is whitelisted . the other option is to create a new smtp connector on say port 26 or a new IP and then don't filter that so you can use that as your test between you and the barracuda .. From: N Parr [mailto:npar...@mortonind.com] Sent: Thursday, September 01, 2011 8:24 AM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: Need advice with 03 Filtering I can't turn it off until I get the Barracuda in place or I'm afraid they will be inundated with spam from their secondary MX. I guess my entire rant boils down to trying to understand why filtering is ignoring my white listing. I forgot to mention something else, a few months back when I started looking in to this I discovered (thanks to this list) that none of the filtering types were even checked on their SMTP virtual server. So if I understand it right they had filtering configured but weren't actually using it. Yet they still had lost messages. I know it's not user error because I turned on journaling and don't see the messages there either. I wish I could just rip it out but at this point it's a job for another life time. RE: Moving Exchange to Co-Lo
Have you considered just using rpc/https with dual sign on? So exchange is in its own complete domain? Just a thought with everyone using rpc/https and OL2010 might be something to look at. I would also think to move the MX record and Spam (Front End) into the cabinet as my first step leave that there and then you can bring exchange over at any time. If you keep with single domain, you might even consider just putting a new exchange box in the colo and swinging mailboxes over at your leisure . I also plan on moving one of our DCs to the Co-Lo, as well. My tentative plan, 1) Create the LAN segment, get the routing working, create firewall policies, etc. 2) Create a new AD site for the Co-Lo 3) Move a domain controller to the Co-Lo. (When I reconfigure the IP address, it should automatically be in the new site.) 4) Move the Spam Titan and Exchange servers, reconfigure their IPs. (When I give the Exchange server the new IP, it should bind to the local DC.) 5) Reconfigure all DNS (Internal and external) with the new addresses. 6) Reconfigure our mapped IPs to route external traffic to the new internal IPs. Are there problems that I'm overlooking? Related question: We are using SCR in our environment. The target computer is also a file server and it will remain in our Corporate office. The two servers will be connected by a 15M MPLS connection. Does this connection create any problems for SCR? --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe exchangelist --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe exchangelist --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe exchangelist

RE: SMTP Address is un use by a non mail-enabled Public Folder?!
Are you doing PF replication between servers? Is it possible that even though they aren't mail enabled , replication is using smtp transport to handle this , thus a random email is placed onto the folder? I haven't kept up with all the ins/outs of Exchange over the past couple of years, but thought I would toss it out. -Original Message- From: Paul Hutchings [mailto:paul.hutchi...@mira.co.uk] Sent: Tuesday, September 27, 2011 12:57 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: SMTP Address is un use by a non mail-enabled Public Folder?! RE: e2k10 ad connector

We migrated mailboxes over the weekend and everything seemed okay, we are using the old SBS 08 box still as the routing and inbound mail connector. I rebooted both boxes to no avail, I checked AD sites/services both server are listed as GC. I can make the switch for mail on the old server and new server fairly quickly but still have @ 50 emails in the old server queue pending delivery.
