Question? I'm kind of new to managing BES servers. Are you saying that if we are using a BES with a BB device that it can be configured to pull from the GAL for incoming calls for caller id. So far each of my users has duplicated our GAL in their contacts for things like caller it, and voice dialing. Is there a better way to do this? Nothing to configure, simply type in the name or part of it and select look up. Just got off the phone with verizon and they said it's not possible to setup caller ID with cell phones yet. I'm hoping that's not the case and the person I talked to doen't have a clue.. You can try add2exchange to replicate all the contacts to a sub folder under contacts in everyone's mailboxes. The BES then will replicate this out to the blackberry. Works well for me. Note: We have turned on Content Encryption on our handhelds (to meet with HIPAA requirements). This causes all Caller ID info to be hidden unless the client is actively logged in to their BB device. DOH! From outlook, open GAL, highlight, right click, add. Simple enough for my users. The iphone does not allow access to the GAL. Besides its nice to know if co-workers are calling. So if I copy/add the GAL to the outlook (mailbox's) contact folder, and the windows smartphone and the iphone sync to the mailbox's contact folder, then on the smartphone/iphone the contact list will have the GAL entries (as a copy). Then the phone can use those entries as though they had been entered by hand. We only have 15 entries, and will probably not go past 20 too soon. However, this is something I am required to do.
