can she see the message when she actually opens it (ie. by double-clicking,

I got this message from a friend.

I have a user who uses to mailboxes. One for herself and the other in which
people send questions about the organization. She is able to see a message
subject in her secondary mailbox (the one with questions) but not the
message and is unable to delete the message. She did read the message when
it originally arrived just not now. When she click on the message to open
it - it said Custom form could not be used. Outlook will use a outlook form
instead. Then in the preview pane it states The item contains active
content which cannot be displayed. She can not delete the message.

The really weird thing is that the message does not show up in the
questions mailbox. Logging into that mailbox does not show the message.
Over a day gone by and all other messages before and after that one is
normal.

Oh yeah exchange 5.5, outlook 2K.

two distinct mailboxeswhich are in her outlook. This is actually pretty
common.
I see my own mailbox and that of Admin and Postmaster. You can give

No other workstation can even see the message. This is a small nuisance but
is still a nuisance.

weird -- I've only ever seen that message in preview pane. the message
usuallyopens up fine, except for formatting

can the message be seen from any other workstation? have you tried a new
profile? etc., etc.

HTML isn't used to make a custom form, but a custom form can contain
HTML formatted text.

Can you actually see the message in the mailbox? I don't know why it
can't be read now though even though it was read the first time.

Why does the message not show up when the mail box is opened by the

I agree that it is probably a custom form (it did have some HTML) but it
was
read once and now cannot be read.

The message that your having trouble with has been written using a
custom form.

When you send an email, your using a form. The form is the message form.
Outlook, (all versions I think), gives you the ability to design your
own forms and to use them instead of or as an alternative to the built
in forms.

For other users to be able to use a custom form though, it needs to be
installed on the recipients machine.

In your case, your don't have that form hence you cannot view the
content.

You should try to speak to the recipient to see if they can send the
message as a normal email using the built-in forms.

Don't know why you can't delete the message though although if you can't
see it in the questions mailbox then maybe it has been deleted ;-)

Ellery,

I initially responded just for the humor, but then thought about something I
remembered seeing last year at MEC 2000. This product causes messages to
expire and not be readable after a certain date. I don't remember all the
details, but here are a couple links that may tell you whether or not this
could be what happened here.

Title: RE: Message deleted in one mail box but not the other - weird occurre

Yes you can set your outlook to see
multiple mailboxes, but you not going to see the same email in different boxes
unless you send them to all of them.

One the other hand I had following experience
witch may be of help.

On Exchange server's AntiVirus I
activated filter to filter out all .exe's.
The next day I found out that it did background check on all mailboxes and
removed all .exe's from all mailboxes.

Now if someone trying to move email witch
had an .exe file it cannot move it but you can easily delete it.

So what am I saying is take a look if
anyone changed or deleted or anything else happened to those forms.

You can have multiple
mailboxes. She sees her own and that of questions. Which are two
distinct mailboxeswhich are in her outlook. This is actually pretty common.

I see my own
mailbox and that of Admin and Postmaster. You can give anyone permission to
open and see anyone else's mailbox.

This looks like the same mailbox to me. On the other

Subject: Message deleted in one
mail box but not the other - weird occurre nce

I got this message from a friend.

I have a user who uses to mailboxes. One for herself
and the other in which
people send questions about the
organization. She is able to see a message
subject in her secondary mailbox
(the one with questions) but not the
message and is unable to delete the
message. She did read the message when
it originally arrived just not
now. When she click on the message to open
it - it said Custom form
could not be used. Outlook will use a outlook form
instead. Then in the preview pane
it states The item contains active
content which cannot be displayed.
She can not delete the message.

The really weird thing is that the message does not
show up in the
questions mailbox. Logging into
that mailbox does not show the message.
Over a day gone by and all other
messages before and after that one is
normal.

Oh yeah exchange 5.5, outlook 2K.
Any ideals?
