I have a user whose mailbox reports 250 MB in their Sent items, but there are
no items visible in the Outlook 2007 client. The Exchange 2007 mailbox server
(via properties of the user) confirms that the user has a total mailbox size
that would confirm the 250MB in Sent items. I have moved the mailbox
successfully between DBs (so it can't be a corrupt item issue), and I have also
deleted all local OST and OAB files at the client. Nothing seems to clear the

is an issue.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

Stupid suggestion, but the view in the sent items isn't filtered in any way

2009-08-12 Thread Michael Hoffman
We had a similar situation here. I had a DVD of images a client wanted reducing
so I tried to use one of the attachment wizards, the ones that resize images
before sending. For some reason it failed and generated a 2Gb outgoing email
which then started to sync across our network before it sent. It was about 3
days before the network was running at full speed again as I was unable to
delete the attachment until it had finished syncing will all my mailboxes.

That is huge. I try to tell my users to keep it under 10 MB as a lot of mail

The quotas max for send at 250MB, but we operate in cached mode by GPO. The
user sent the item and because of slow network connection combined with cached
mode behavior the issue started it's spiral. Initially the user mailbox (in
Outlook) didn't initially show the single sent item because it was that slow to
sync.

Maybe an item that was not a message was inadvertently dragged to the sent

Try an 'Advanced Find' search with outlook for 'Any type of Outlook item' set
the size to greater than 100 MB and see if it finds anything that is hidden

I have a user whose mailbox reports 250 MB in their Sent items, but there are
no items visible in the Outlook 2007 client. The Exchange 2007 mailbox server
(via properties of the user) confirms that the user has a total mailbox size
that would confirm the 250MB in Sent items. I have moved the mailbox
successfully between DBs (so it cant be a corrupt item issue), and I have also
deleted all local OST and OAB files at the client. Nothing seems to clear
thghos sent items, and we impose mailbox quotas in our environment so this is
an issue.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

RE: System says user has 250MB in sent folder

2009-08-11 Thread Beahm, Keith
It confirms ItemsInFolder are 2, and FolderSize is 254517461B. The Outlook
client and OWA both only show a single item in the folder.

If you already have Full Mbx access, just log into your mailbox and click your
name/drop down at the top right of your OWA client and input the name of the
user whose mailbox you want to open and it will open properly in a new window.

Maybe I just took a brain vacation (that would be super actually), but in E2K3
I used the https://owa-server/exchange/username format, and in E2K7 that format
is not viable on the CAS server. The user is not on shift yet, or I would have
them use OWA to verify what can be seen or not seen.

I have a user whose mailbox reports 250 MB in their Sent items, but there are
no items visible in the Outlook 2007 client. The Exchange 2007 mailbox server
(via properties of the user) confirms that the user has a total mailbox size
that would confirm the 250MB in Sent items. I have moved the mailbox
successfully between DBs (so it cat be a corrupt item issue), and I have also
deleted all local OST and OAB files at the client. Nothing seems to clear
thghos sent items, and we impose mailbox quotas in our environment so this is
an issue.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

Maybe an item that was not a message was inadvertently dragged to the sent
items folder. Since it is not a message type the outlook view may not show it.
Try an 'Advanced Find' search with outlook for 'Any type of Outlook item' set
the size to greater than 100 MB and see if it finds anything that is hidden

The issue is resolved. I am ashamed to say I was duped by the user, and
overlooked the single item in their sent items (it had a 250MB

got behind in cleaning up their old sent items.

Maybe an item that was not a message was inadvertently dragged to the
sent items folder. Since it is not a message type the outlook view may
not show it. Try an 'Advanced Find' search with outlook for 'Any type
of Outlook item' set the size to greater than 100 MB and see if it finds
anything that is hidden from the default view configuration.

Subject: System says user has 250MB in sent folder

I have a user whose mailbox reports 250 MB in their Sent items, but
there are no items visible in the Outlook 2007 client. The Exchange
2007 mailbox server (via properties of the user) confirms that the user
has a total mailbox size that would confirm the 250MB in Sent items. I
have moved the mailbox successfully between DBs (so it can't be a
corrupt item issue), and I have also deleted all local OST and OAB files
at the client. Nothing seems to clear the ghost sent items, and we
impose mailbox quotas in our environment ... so this is an issue.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

The quotas max for send at 250MB, but we operate in cached mode by GPO. The

That is huge. I try to tell my users to keep it under 10 MB as a lot of mail
servers will reject large attachments. At least that has been my experience in
the past. I'm sure that you have your needs for such a large limit.

The quotas max for send at 250MB, but we operate in cached mode by GPO. The
user sent the item and because of slow network connection combined with cached
mode behavior the issue started it's spiral. Initially the user mailbox (in
Outlook) didn't initially show the single sent item because it was that slow to
sync.

foolishly believed the user when they told me they just got behind in cleaning

Maybe an item that was not a message was inadvertently dragged to the sent
items folder. Since it is not a message type the outlook view may not show it.
Try an 'Advanced Find' search with outlook for 'Any type of Outlook item' set
the size to greater than 100 MB and see if it finds anything that is hidden
from the default view configuration.

Nothing seems to clear the
ghost sent items, and we impose mailbox quotas in our environment ... so this
is an issue.
