 Of course it will.

I happened to also be thinking about all the weird phenomenon that exists, all
according the laws of physic, albeit, laws not typically seen.

I think it was Ann who post the video showing some of that weird phenomena.

So, why not human levitation? You may say it defies the laws of physics, but
so would most of that weird phenomena, at least apparantly.

Nothing in that video showed a breach of the laws of physics, I didn't even
realise that was the intention of it (if that's what it was). It was selection
of the sort of cool but invisible laws that underlie our world, nothing spooky
about it - once you know what the laws are.

Gravity is currently understood to be, not a force but an effect of how mass
affects space and time. All things are in motion and following a straight path
unless acted upon, the presence of any object bends light (and everything else)
around itself by pulling space/time into a curve. Gravity causes us to fall
towards the centre of the Earth, we aren't pulled there. I eagerly await a
demonstration of a way to reverse that apparently inescapable phenomena.

 Cue Willytex

But this guy was studied for fifteen days, under the surveillance of cameras.

Oh, like no one else ever has! Some breatharian was observed for ages but it
was a journalist who discovered him sneaking off to the kitchen for a chicken
sandwich in the middle of the night.

His explanation: Nectar that flows through a hole in his palate.

What explanation from those who would typically poo poo this type of thing due
to lack of evidence?

Was the nectar studied? Or even extracted? If it was you would expect it to be
front page news everywhere as it could be synthesised and, hey presto! World
hunger is cured but the doctor in the video didn't mention it. What sort of
process would replace the cells in his body as they died, with no nutrition
coming in? Where does the energy come from to maintain mental functions like
consciousness let alone just walking around for 70 years? Without a transfer of
energy from food coming in from outside the body doesn't work, even this
nectar must have some sort of physical origin.

 Sentences like this:

This sounds crazy, but let’s think about it for a minute. What do we need
from food? The minerals, which are made out of molecules, which are made out of
atoms, which are made out of quarks, which are made out of superstrings, which
is ultimately part of the Unified Field or Superstring Field. At a fundamental
level of nature, nutrition is really just vibrating strings of non-local
energy. Could he somehow be receiving this information somehow without the
need to physically ingest food?
This is the sort of drivel that infests the internet, I get a ton of it my FB
inbox every morning but an occasional reader who may just have seen these words
on TV or in a newspaper might think there is some sort of reasoned
justification going on here. But there isn't.

 File under Cargo Cult.

Some people will believe anything and look for justification instead of
explanation.

Nor did anyone else when he was studied for 3 weeks in hospital with 24 hrs
camera surveillence.

His claims were scientifically studied by a team of 30 specialists during
three weeks of a variety of tests at a hospital. They took him into then
Sterling Hospital in Ahmedabad, India. They put him under 24 hour observation
in front of cameras and found out that he did not take any kind of food or
water in the 15 days that he was in hospital. No food or water for half that
time would be a sure death for anybody else. And he did not pass urine or stool
either. The doctors were completely surprised at this miracle. “We believe
that the sadhu Prahlad Jani’s body went through biological transformation as a
result of meditation and powerful yoga in a completely natural environment that
he stays.” - See more at: Holy Man Claims He Has Not Eaten Or Drank Anything In

It would depend on whether the new laws are in contradiction of the old.

understood and the idea that it's possible to circumvent them with a hitherto
unknown gland in the brain that produces a nectar that fulfills all our dietary

I didn't use the word hogwash, bullshit would be closer to it anyway. This guy
in Australia was caught out, there was no magic going on. I don't know why
people not eating would be a sign of anything great anyway, it's the sort of
thing I'd avoid in a guru. I like my chips and gravy too much to be impressed
by thinness. But the lure of magic is enough for a lot of people I suppose,
it's always interested me, I'm an eternal optimist but becoming rather
sceptical these days.

I suppose you could say that for any result that you don't like. It didn't
pass my threshold for credibility. The study was corrupted

A corrupt study is always a possibility, conversely we shouldn't accept
potentially corrupt information just because the claimed result gives succour
to our cherished beliefs, not if we are interested in truth anyway.

Having a threshold of credibility is a good plan, it means you have a handy
way of weeding out the bullshit at the start but it shouldn't be so rigid that
you become blinkered. What you need is a good working knowledge about something
before you consider contrary evidence. We can always be wrong but the discovery
of a chakra - whatever that means- in the brain that creates nectar of this
usefulness (or at all) would be a major discovery. Let's hope for the diet
industry's sake if no one elses that this guy has broken the laws of
conservation of energy, as well as a few others.

I'll bet good money that he hasn't though...

As far the breatharian, you simply dismiss it has hogwash, and that
because it didn't cause a global sensation, it must be a fraud. Or that you
didn't like a paragraph in the possible explanation.

I didn't use the word hogwash, bullshit would be closer to it anyway. This

 rather sceptical these days.

I suppose you could say that for any result that you don't like. It

A corrupt study is always a possibility, conversely we shouldn't accept
potentially corrupt information just because the claimed result gives
succour to our cherished beliefs, not if we are interested in truth anyway.

Having a threshold of credibility is a good plan, it means you have a
handy way of weeding out the bullshit at the start but it shouldn't be so
rigid that you become blinkered. What you need is a good working knowledge
about something before you consider contrary evidence. We can always be
wrong but the discovery of a chakra - whatever that means- in the brain
that creates nectar of this usefulness (or at all) would be a major
discovery. Let's hope for the diet industry's sake if no one elses that
this guy has broken the laws of conservation of energy, as well as a few
 others.

I'll bet good money that he hasn't though...

So, how much would you be willing to wager on Barry's levitation witness
claim?

Personally, I don't care if the guy can survive without food or not. It

than a religion but a political group. But what do you do about the 85%
who pay lip service? What do you do about the friend who comes from an
Islamic family and when you ask them about don't know much because the
family didn't practice it. Or they tell they can't remember the last
time they visited a mosque, maybe it was when they were a kid and their
parents sent them once to find out what it was about And then they ask
if you would like a beer?

If you want to be democratic about it, get rid of all religion. Delegate
it to museums and history books. We have psychology to replace it as
long as big pharma doesn't take it over for profit and make if very
Huxlian. After all religion is a mind control device invented some time
in the deep dark past when a ruler worried his subjects were going to
come kill him and take over his kingdom decided to tell the subjects if
the did bad things they would be punished for it after death.

I was on my way back from a vacation when the first plane hit the
World Trade Center. My wife and I were listening to music on a CD and
enjoyed our ride home, and knew nothing about it. When we got home, we
listened to our messages. The first two were from family members
hysterically crying, We've been attacked! America is at war!

My first thought, of course, was the ever-eloquent, What the fuck!?!

We watched the news, and I was baffled. Why would anyone do such a
thing? I was about as ignorant about this as someone can be. But I'm a
learner. It's what I like to do. And since that day, I've learned a lot.

I learned that this was not an isolated incident. Attacks had become
more frequent and more deadly over the years. I just hadn't noticed.

And I eventually learned that this is not just a problem of generic
terrorism, but a global movement based on Citizen Warrior: The
Quran's Last Word on Non-Muslims
http://www.citizenwarrior.com/2010/09/qurans-last-word-on-non-muslims.html
and the example of Muhammad
http://www.inquiryintoislam.com/2010/08/sacredness-of-mohammads-example.html.
I learned that Islam is a unique religion because it's a political
system and a system of law as well as being what most people would
call a religion. Its goal is world domination, it has explicit
permission for (and approval of) violence in its holy books, and it is
intolerant of non-Muslims. Its laws even include legally-imposed
discrimination against non-Muslims (and all women). (Read more about
that here
http://www.inquiryintoislam.com/2010/11/basic-elements-of-islam.html.)

I learned that an almost-uninterrupted jihad has been waged against
non-Muslims for 1400 years
http://www.citizenwarrior.com/2008/12/third-jihad.html. The attacks
are near constant. So far since 9-11, Jihadis have carried out 23,795
http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/index.html#Attacks deadly attacks.
Most of us don't see it as a war. We see isolated attacks. If you take
in the whole global view
http://www.citizenwarrior.com/2007/09/these-arent-terrorist-attacks-this-is.html,
however, or listen to the point of view of a Jihadi
http://www.citizenwarrior.com/2008/09/what-is-jihadi.html, or read
this http://thereligionofpeace.com/, you will see it for what it is:
A global war — orthodox Muslims
http://www.inquiryintoislam.com/2010/07/orthodox-versus-heterodox-muslims.html
against everybody else.

The majority of the conflicts in the world today consist of Jihadis
http://www.citizenwarrior.com/2008/09/what-is-jihadi.html fighting
non-Muslims or Muslims who are considered insufficiently Islamic. If
you removed jihad from the world right now, it would be a fairly
peaceful place.

I also learned that one of the main reasons democracies have so much
trouble dealing with Jihadis is because of an important conflict
within democracies
http://www.citizenwarrior.com/2007/09/why-now-islams-rise-explained.html.
Specifically, most people in the free world believe 1) everyone has a
right to worship as they wish, and 2) discrimination of any kind is
wrong. These are important foundational principles of liberal
democracies around the world.

Why is this a problem? Because the simplest way to deal with Islam
would be to discriminate against it. In other words, to openly admit
Islam is unique (because of its political aspirations and religious
duty to overthrow all other forms of law and government), and stop all
concessions to Islam
http://www.citizenwarrior.com/2008/08/concession-stand.html and roll
back any concessions already made http://concess.blogspot.com/.

We can't do that because it violates important values of our
societies. Or does it necessarily? This dialog needs to happen and
solutions need to be created for it.

Salyavin,

By that measure, human beings must have been on earth longer than 6,000 years,
which is the estimate for the creation of humans here on this planet, according
to the Creationist believers. According to the vedic cycle of time, humans
were wiser and lived longer during the Golden Age or Sat Yuga.

By Yukteswar's reckoning, the last Sat Yuga was about 12,500 years ago during
the Age of Leo. That was when the spring equinox occurred when the sun was in
the sign of Leo.

But, given the myths indicated in the vedas, the earth might have gone through
several of these cycles already.

So, when did humans actually appear on earth? That's a discussion for another
day.

[FairfieldLife] The Secret of Yogic Flying

2014-09-22 Thread jr_...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
It's very simple. The technique is to attain samadhi while in the waking state
of consciousness. As such, one can also retain the samadhi state during the
dreaming state of consciousness. It is during the dreaming state that the
yogic flying can be easily experienced.

But MMY was pushing the envelope by saying, if you can fly during the
dreaming state, why not fly during the waking state as well?

Bhairitu:
What is the practical value? What is the quality of life?
One can attain moksha and enlightenment without this.
 Why bother?

The ascetic sect in South Asia is very old and originated even before the
composition of the Rig Veda. The idea is called tapas - burning up the
accumulation of past karma by performing austerities such as meditation and
yoga and various fasting diets and techniques such as fire breathing inside a
sauna.

If you want to burn up a lot of karma in a short amount of time, you should try
meditating surrounded by five blazing fires in the middle of the summer.

However, the most beneficial tapas of all and highly recommended for
householders, is the tapas of maintaining absolute silence around the house and
when you go out, you must be silent at all times - EVEN IN TIMES OF PUBLIC
VERBAL ABUSE, and be totally naked in all seasons. This will burn up a lot of
karma in a very short time.

The giving up of activities that are based on material desire is what great
learned men call sanyasa. And giving up the results of all activities is what
the wise call yoga. - BG: 18.2

I don't know nothing about no yuga's but the question of when humans first

were happy drawing the line between us and the rest of the apes but recent DNA
work has put the earliest common ancestor of all human males at 339,000 years

humans is 200,000 years ago in Ethiopia.

So there you go, problem solved but did any of them live until the great ages

The theory of human levitation is pretty easy to follow - the theory is that
if you learn very deep meditation you can go into a yogic trance induction
state, which will help burn off all your accumulated karma of your past
actions that are holding you down.

The deeper and longer you transcend to a state of pure consciousness, the
more heavy karma and sense impressions you will dissipate or burn off. At the
same time, you have to be wary of accumulating new karma as you act in the
present world - so you should move about as little as possible and practice
ahimsa or harmlessness.

In order to keep the body conditioned it is recommended that you practice
several body positions and placements. There are several very helpful yoga
asanas you can employ such as the head-stand and the bound lotus position.
Also, counting the breaths is a very effective form of tapas (an aspiring
yogi should be able to count at least the distance to the sun and back.)

And, if you follow the yoga dietary injunctions, such as consuming a single
uncooked wheat-berry per day and some filtered water, in time you will become
almost as light as a cotton fiber.

At first, you may simply hop or skip a few inches on a foam mat; then you will
progress to hovering a few feet off of a sofa; and then with even more
practice, you will be able to hover and move around a few feet over the desert
floor in the middle of the night.

The theory is simple, but the implementation is complicated.

IMO, the dreams while in samadhi has a greater possibility of actually

So, let's review what we know:

The Aryan speakers were tribes of nomadic cattle breeders, who occupied
the steppes of Central Asia and the plains of the Caucasus Range close
to the Black Sea and in Persia, now Iran. Due to overpopulation, about
1500 B.C., with many cattle, horse-drawn chariots, and iron weapons,
they migrated northwards, to Persia, now Iran, then turned south-east
around the Caspian and finally reached Northern India, by way of the
Indus Valley where they composed the Vedas.

Lucid dreaming has been researched scientifically, and its existence is
well established. This case would probably be called a /transcendental
lucid dream/ - a dream in which the sleeper-dreamer is in deep
meditation and aware that he or she is dreaming that they are
transcending. It sounds complicated.

In the eighth century, some Tibetan Buddhists were practicing a form of
/Light Yoga/ which is reputed to maintain /full waking consciousness
while in the dream state/. Awareness during the sleep and dream states
is associated with the Tibetan Light by certain lamas. This practice
achieves lucid dreams as a secondary effect—in contrast to Lucid Dream
Yoga in which the goal is primarily just lucid dreaming. According to a
few Buddhist teachers, the experience of lucidity helps us to understand
the unreality of phenomena, which would otherwise be overwhelming during
some dream experiences.

This is the scientific explanation for the various ages of the earth, i.e. Age

Sri Yukteswar believed that the precession is actually due to our Sun
revolving around with a twin star in Alpha Centauri. It is believed that the

[FairfieldLife] Shina Soba Shoyu [1 Attachment]

2014-09-22 Thread 'Richard J. Williams' pundits...@gmail.com [FairfieldLife]
There is just nothing quite like a bowl of hot, steaming noodle soup in
the early morning or late at night, or just about any time. Here is our
family recipe for delicious home made ramen noodle soup:

Ingredients:

 * Whole wheat noodles
 * Water

Instructions:

1. In a pot, bring water to a boil
2. Scoop in a cup of organic whole wheat noodles
3. Keep on low heat uncovered, until noodles are soft, but not too soft
4. Remove and drain in hot water

Serving:

Serve in ceramic bowels with chop sticks or spoons and add soy sauce to
taste. Enjoy.

/Shoyu (soy-based broth) ramen/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramen

*Notes:* /San-Ji Organic Shoyu is brewed with soybeans and wheat
resulting in a more aromatic sauce perfect for dipping or as a table
condiment. It is naturally brewed for up to six months. Water, whole
soybeans, salt, whole wheat./

*Comments:* /For years we used to eat cheap ramen noodle soup made from
noodles in a bag with a flavor package inside. That is, until we became
health food addicts back on June 16, 1967. We still like to have noodle
soup on occasion, although we don't eat many carbohydrates these days.
Once we saw a Japanese film about a noodle shop and so we started eating
noodle soup back when we were hippies in San Francisco. Back then we
were very susceptible to the suggestions of others, peer pressure and we
were poor. Go figure. /

around. This is the reason why there is a precession of the earth's axis.
This is the scientific explanation for the various ages of the earth, i.e. Age
of Aquarius.

Sri Yukteswar believed that the precession is actually due to our Sun
revolving around with a twin star in Alpha Centauri. It is believed that the
ancient Egyptians knew this theory as well.

That's a discussion for another
day.

I don't know nothing about no yuga's but the question of when humans first
appeared is a fascinating one. I used to think it was a question of where we
were happy drawing the line between us and the rest of the apes but recent DNA
work has put the earliest common ancestor of all human males at 339,000 years
ago (Chromosomal Adam). The earliest fossil evidence of anatomically identical
humans is 200,000 years ago in Ethiopia.

So there you go, problem solved but did any of them live until the great ages
of the bible? No, why would they? Yuga's? No, shouldn't think so, why would the
laws of nature change and favour us at particular times? Makes no sense to me,
file under myth or method of social control.

When he reaches 75, he'll write another article about how he hopes to die at
95. But ideally, according to ayurveda, human beings should be able to live up
to 120 years.

Lightweights! According to the bible, Noah was 950 when he passed on.

Yes, it is interesting to read this particular quote again now with the
perspective of time and see where these cultural norms of TM-ishness came from.
This was quite a formative quote at the time for what became permissible. It
reads all over the place and ambiguous now but it was influential legacy. -Buck

9/21/14-Maharishi: When one starts TM, cruder values are replaced by finer
values, speech is less sharp

…Children do say, 'Now, Mummy today you haven't meditated.' When they find a
little roughness [in the mother], they say, 'No, you should meditate.' Children
remind mothers to meditate. [This is] the effect of Transcendental Meditation,
the children know that when Mummy has meditated she doesn't mind their mischief
so much. Their crude behavior is overlooked, and they're all loved more and
more and more. It's recognized by the children that right from the moment one
starts to meditate, cruder values begin to be replaced by finer values, and
this is what is called virtue -- finer values of life, more delicate values of
life, more 'yes' and less 'no's,' more acceptance, less rejection, more
tolerance, less sharpness. Otherwise, one is sharp here and sharp here.

These sharp remarks even though true they don't help very much. Many people
say, 'I am truthful and that's why people dislike me because I say something to
their face.' Truth is not characterized by whips. If you speak truth, fine, the
truth is there, but it should have some sweetness to it.

Manu, the first lawgiver to the human race, said about speech:

'Satyāṁ brūyāt priyaṁ brūyāt na brūyāt satyam apriyam'
Speak the truth, speak that which is sweet, don't speak the truth which is not
sweet.

Not that you can take liberty with the truth and massacre the whole field of
behavior. Speak the simple, natural truth which is supporting life, which is
nourishing life. Truth is always life-supporting if it is really truth, but it
must come from a melted heart and not from a very unconcerned mind. No.

So the moment TM begins, [there is] culture of the heart and culture of the
mind,.
