Well, I kind of agree. Though it's not meant to be a blanket statement. There
is real wisdom and enlightenment in Ff---but it's also a very mixed bag. One
of the most "enlightened" groups I belong to is an international group of
mathematicians/scientists. a

Ya know, if you're going to vent a vitriolic
jihad against another poster, it's usually
best if you actually read their posts before
doing so. Otherwise you really make yourself
look kinda silly. I mean, it wouldn't be the
first time in your case, but it's never too

Poor baby, are you suffering?

Say, I know--how about a nice splenectomy?

(P.S. to Lurk: Lawson never made as many as
30-40 posts per day. He would *occasionally*
make as many as 20. Nor did any argument
between Barry and myself last for anything
even remotely like 50 posts.)

No, it doesn't, especially since you're no longer a
TMer in good standing. But this group would be a lot
better off, in my opinion, with fewer little fascist
shits like you try to interfere with the sharing of
information by calling other posters trolls because
you don't agree with what they have to say. Maybe
it's time for you to take a tantric sabbatical from

you are neither, Sir.

Or, maybe you'd like to stand up like a man and offer

I bet we can drum up some more folks to join or at least lurkers who
haven't ever posted who don't like these rules to *outnumber* the
so-called "consensus" are return this group to open discussion. As I
have said *before* this is the *only* group I know of on Yahoo that has
*posting limits!* There are groups that are highly moderated usually
because they are of very narrow purpose such as software support
groups. Many of the "mundane" (non yoga related) groups I'm on behave
more enlightened, balanced and sane than people here. I'm sure others
have found this true too. Doesn't speak well for TM does it?

Now that answers the question, Who is in control? We are on autopilot..

Sure, but if a plane is flying on autopilot, the pilots still have to sit
there and occasionally intervene.

This notion of Rick Archer as rules-wielding fascist is utterly
ridiculous. It was with great reluctance that he even put in place
FFL's posting limits, and in all the years, only one person has ever
been permanently banned from FFL. The Wed Night Yahoo Group is
supposed to be an extension of the group that meets in Tom T's
livingroom, and the biggest problem is that laissez-faire Rick doesn't
run the Yahoo Group like Tom runs his livingroom.

I set up the Wednesday night chat because I know how, not because I want to
run it. I’m just a technician there, mostly sending out occasional
invitations, usually at Tom’s request. I’m not a moderator and don’t want to
be. Here in FFL of course, I play more of a moderator role, because somebody
needs to, but as you know, I want to interfere as little as possible and
basically let the group run on automatic pilot, which it usually does. A
more controlling role would directly contradict the mission of the group, as
stated in the description: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fairfieldlife/.

demeaning to everyone. It basically reduces Rick to the position of having
to beseech people to mind their manners, and reduces everyone else to either

Sal

Because I’m too caught up in work and other matters to read most of the
posts, it seems that little flame wars erupt and subside without my
knowledge. If some serious and prolong abuse occurred and were brought to my
attention, I’d deal with it, as long as we have a consensus that we want to
restrict such behavior. We seemed to have such a consensus when we first
established the rule, although it certainly wasn’t unanimous, and we can
review and revise it any time we like. It seems to me that the intention to
enforce some sort of civility has made the group more civil, without my
having to do much enforcing. And I don’t think it has dumbed us down or
suppressed creativity.

Once again, I've drawn comparisons, I've not drawn conclusions from them. Why
is everyone drawing those conclusions? And why is everyone drawing the same
conclusion, namely that Ff folks are a bunch of fascists? Did I ever say that?
Another possible conclusion would be that the German fascists were really as
enlightened as the Ff folks believe themselves to be. I'll suggest a third
possibility and maybe a fourth. Right now I'm turning into a pumpkin. a
