Knowing the tendencies of human beings, this pageant is not going away any time
soon. OTOH, what is wrong with appreciating the female human form? Even the
ancient vedic literature mentions various exalted female characters in the
guise of Parvati, Mohini, Laksmi, and Urvasi.

Urvasi is perhaps interesting in that she was an apsara, or celestial dancer,
who fell in love with a human male.

Beauty pagents are an anachronism of an ignorant era (1950's)

It has no meaning in an intellectually enlightened society.   To create a
truly egalatarian society we have to move towards an Unisex dress code.

I believe an Unisex dress code will go a long way in removing gender
discrimination that has plagued human societies for centuries.

Because as we all know, beauty contests are
about more noble things, like how hot the
contestant looks in a bathing suit.

The question that springs to my mind, John,
is what a person with the kinds of ideas you
have espoused here about women as temptresses
and the joys of celibacy and purity doing
watching a beauty contest?

The second question that springs to mind is,
What were you doing with your right hand

the left hand? :-)

She could have answered the question with something along the lines of I
think it's up to the individual states to decide for themselves whether
same sex marriage should be legalized. The question did not require her to
state her personal views about same sex marriage. She stupidly and

Basically, the question was a test of intelligence and social skills, and

All she had to do was say: I take the position of my president, Barack

That would have been so clever and intelligent!
But, alas this girl, who had to have her tits implanted, at such a young age?

That's sad.

How do you know about it?

What I noticed were her teeth. They looked like the ivory on a baby grand

I'd like to hear from our resident lawyer, Reevis, on this but I actually don't
think, in the final analysis, it is up to the individual states.

I always thought because of the Full Faith and Credit provision of the
constitution that civil matters such as this would have to be approved by all
states because it is required that marriages done in one state have to be
recognized in all states. And a gay marriage in, say, Vermont will NOT be
recognized in, say, Mississippi.

I am fully prepared to be corrected on this but that is how I understand it.

Why do you assume that John watched the beauty contest?

I didn't watch it but know of the controversy because it was covered all over
the internet. Indeed, I dare say that only a small percentage of the US
population (5%?) watched the actual contest but many, many more know of the
controversy.
