Beauty pagents are an anachronism of an ignorant era (1950's) It has no meaning in an intellectually enlightened society. To create a truly egalatarian society we have to move towards an Unisex dress code. I believe an Unisex dress code will go a long way in removing gender discrimination that has plagued human societies for centuries. --- On Tue, 4/21/09, TurquoiseB no_re...@yahoogroups.com wrote: Subject: [FairfieldLife] Re: Miss California Cheated out of Crown Date: Tuesday, April 21, 2009, 12:07 AM Because as we all know, beauty contests are about more noble things, like how hot the contestant looks in a bathing suit. Basically, the question was a test of intelligence and social skills, and she failed miserably. I'd like to hear from our resident lawyer, Reevis, on this but I actually don't think, in the final analysis, it is up to the individual states. I always thought because of the Full Faith and Credit provision of the constitution that civil matters such as this would have to be approved by all states because it is required that marriages done in one state have to be recognized in all states. And a gay marriage in, say, Vermont will NOT be recognized in, say, Mississippi. I am fully prepared to be corrected on this but that is how I understand it. All she had to do was say: I take the position of my president, Barack Obama, and believe that marriage is defined by one man and one woman. That would have been so clever and intelligent!
