Comparing the great Battle Hymn of the Republic to teaching Jihad, martyrdom, and glory of death as an end to itself to young children is a true sign of a broken moral compass. OK I will give it try. When we learned the Hymn in elementary school ( I did anyway) it was part of music class, one of 5 or 6 classes during the day. Math, english,P.E.,science, etc. We went in, learned the song, sang it and moved on to the next class, with barely a thought to the hymn or music. Now these kids who were on the video, they are immersed in this 24 hours a day, non-stop indoctrination from the time they were born until the end of their lives. You can find comparisons between songs, but the context and outcomes are completely different. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, authfriend jst...@... wrote: --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, sgrayatlarge no_reply@ wrote: So you think the outcomes were the same, teaching the singing the battle hymn and jihad martyrs song to children? Who can blame them for brainwashing their kids? We do the same thing via BigMedia. I never met a parent who didn't brainwash their own child. And during WWI and WWII BigMedia portrayed the other side as japs, krauts and wops etc. and framed them as evil murderous dogs. I say unto you: if your exact DNA clone was inserted into that culture you'd be a good Muslim too and vice versa. It's not enough to underlined their flaws -- we must look to the forces that brought all this hatred into being: in a word: greed. Follow the money, not the mantras of others. Oh don't worry, while the Congo lives with daily genocide, Hamas shoots it's 5,000 rockets to Israel, Iran build it's shiny new nukes, Chavez blusters and sings,China craps on Tibet, North Korea grows it's gulag of a country,Castro sings his swan song of despotism, Saudis export is Relgion of Peace all and the Taliban bans women to visit zoos with blissful neglect, It's tiny Israel that you punish with relish. So either Israel is wrong and the world is right or Isarel is right and the world is wrong. Both can't be right. Think I'm wrong, well let's hear what the former Spanish Prime Minister José María Aznar has to say: If Israel goes down, we all go down Anger over Gaza is a distraction. We cannot forget that Israel is the West's best ally in a turbulent region The following article by the former Spanish Prime Minister José María Aznarwas published in the British newspaper `The Times' on 17 June 2010: For far too long now it has been unfashionable in Europe to speak up for Israel. In the wake of the recent incident on board a ship full of anti-Israeli activists in the Mediterranean, it is hard to think of a more unpopular cause to champion. In an ideal world, the assault by Israeli commandos on the Mavi Marmara would not have ended up with nine dead and a score wounded. In an ideal world, the soldiers would have been peacefully welcomed on to the ship. In an ideal world, no state, let alone a recent ally of Israel such as Turkey, would have sponsored and organized a flotilla whose sole purpose was to create an impossible situation for Israel: making it choose between giving up its security policy and the naval blockade, or risking the wrath of the world. In our dealings with Israel, we must blow away the red mists of anger that too often cloud our judgment. A reasonable and balanced approach should encapsulate the following realities: first, the state of Israel was created by a decision of the UN. Its legitimacy, therefore, should not be in question. Israel is a nation with deeply rooted democratic institutions. It is a dynamic and open society that has repeatedly excelled in culture, science and technology. Second, owing to its roots, history, and values, Israel is a fully fledged Western nation. Indeed, it is a normal Western nation, but one confronted by abnormal circumstances. Uniquely in the West, it is the only democracy whose very existence has been questioned since its inception. In the first instance, it was attacked by its neighbours using the conventional weapons of war. Then it faced terrorism culminating in wave after wave of suicide attacks. Now, at the behest of radical Islamists and their sympathisers, it faces a campaign of delegitimisation through international law and diplomacy. Sixty-two years after its creation, Israel is still fighting for its very survival. Punished with missiles raining from north and south, threatened with destruction by an Iran aiming to acquire nuclear weapons and pressed upon by friend and foe, Israel, it seems, is never to have a moment's peace. For years, the focus of Western attention has understandably been on the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians. But if Israel is in danger today and the whole region is slipping towards a worryingly problematic future, it is not due to the lack of understanding between the parties on how to solve this conflict. The parameters of any prospective peace agreement are clear, however difficult it may seem for the two sides to make the final push for a settlement. The real threats to regional stability, however, are to be found in the rise of a radical Islamism which sees Israel's destruction as the fulfilment of its religious destiny and, simultaneously in the case of Iran, as an expression of its ambitions for regional hegemony. Both phenomena are threats that affect not only Israel, but also the wider West and the world at large. The core of the problem lies in the ambiguous and often erroneous manner in which too many Western countries are now reacting to this situation. It is easy to blame Israel for all the evils in the Middle East. Some even act and talk as if a new understanding with the Muslim world could be achieved if only we were prepared to sacrifice the Jewish state on the altar. This would be folly. Israel is our first line of defence in a turbulent region that is constantly at risk of descending into chaos; a region vital to our energy security owing to our overdependence on Middle Eastern oil; a region that forms the front line in the fight against extremism. If Israel goes down, we all go down. To defend Israel's right to exist in peace, within secure borders, requires a degree of moral and strategic clarity that too often seems to have disappeared in Europe. The United States shows worrying signs of heading in the same direction. The West is going through a period of confusion over the shape of the world's future. To a great

Yes. It is typical propaganda being waved at me to attempt to put me into fear as my wallet goes empty as I try to fend off my hungry neighbors in America who lost their jobs to a housing bubble and all the good things that have brought the economy to a standstill. The police, if they catch thieves breaking into cars, even they understand the plight of the owners, and attempt to return the stolen items in the same evening or early mornings as to not have their items get caught up in the courts for months as evidence. Middle America is hurting right now and which hat would you like for us to pull a rabbit out of? Having to be concerned about returning military personal, who have been desensitized from wars overseas and having no psychological help for bringing back what they learned to dokill people or attempt to kill people.. http://www.mysuncoast.com/Global/story.asp?s=12691319 Would you think this story as typical propaganda? I don't see the Veterans getting more medical care as they are to protect and serve the people of the US. Feeling sorry will have to cut it. Unless you would like to see someone who can only feel sorry put into an internment camp to help pay for what you feel we must stop? I think Hitler did that. Otherwise the world will continue to feel sorry and nothing happens and Israel continues to be condemmed by world opinion. Life goes on, and we feel good feeling sorry as if this is enough. Peace is much better to deal with. Children were being taught this song and spread word of mouth in the 1800's. I remember singing this song in school, taught by the public school system of America. : ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Battle_Hymn_of_the_Republic Lyrics Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord: He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword: His truth is marching on. (Chorus) Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on. I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps, They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps; I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps: His day is marching on. (Chorus) Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! His day is marching on. I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel: As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal; Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel, Since God is marching on. (Chorus) Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Since God is marching on. He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat; He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat: Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet! Our God is marching on. (Chorus) Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Our God is marching on. In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me: As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, While God is marching on. (Chorus) Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! While God is marching on. He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave, He is Wisdom to the mighty, He is Succour to the brave, So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of Time His slave, Our God is marching on. (Chorus) Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Our God is marching on. Oooof. Slam-dunk. As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, While God is marching on.
