Claire was liaison for the three Governors Paul Potter, Greg Palma and Wally Gibbons - they didn't want to fool with the peon meditators so they had her do it for us - part of her duty was to have a knowledge program for us - she would lead us in group meditation, wait about 2 or 3 minutes, just enough time to start settling down, then she would get up and leave the room, slamming the French doors behind her, I remember French doors at the Chapel Hill TM Center where I used to live. One set opened to the dining room with a heavy set of blue drapes covering them to shield the noise, and one set opened to the front entrance hall. and I mean slamming them. She was oblivious to her actions so we staffers learned to wait till she exited before really meditating. Of all the people I have known thru TM she had more rumor stuff. She was adamant that one should not meditate with pets in the room because it drains your energy tho that was a pretty popular rumor in those days and one which given the number of times I have meditated with a cat in my lap, I can say is absolutely not true. In fact I always felt I got the best end of the deal with cat meditation - I always had better experiences with a cat than without when doing TM. One of the strangest things I saw from that time was Claire had a sister Persis was her name I think Yes, beautiful Persis, who was younger and more down-to-earth than was Claire. I wonder where she is today. and for a while she was seeing this guy whose name I can't remember, but he was on a lot of those programs and after the courses moved to Blowing Rock and Boone NC, he was around a lot - he claimed that since M had said refined sugar for refined consciousness he started eating white sugar before every afternoon program. He said he ate between 1/4 to 1/2 cup or more right before doing his program. I didn't believe him, so he started doing it in front of me and I mean he sat at the table and ate half a cup of sugar, then went and did program. I thought he was crazy. Dunno how long he did that, but it was wild. I wonder if he's dropped the body because of diabetes! I would gladly relive those days all over again! I looked at the other two people at my table and they were both looking and me and each other, no one saying anything and Claire in that high pitched voice of hers was wanting us to praise the chutney as she was - I finally said it tastes like vinegar to me and the other two agreed. Claire jumped up from her chair, stomped over to our table, snatched the jar up, and stormed back to her seat, saying over her shoulder in the most offended voice imaginable Pearls before swine! Nope, I did AEGTC at the Manor end of 1977 and early 1978 then stayed on staff until after Vedic Science. Things were really hopping around the Manor those years...first WPA at Amherst, Central America Peace Projects, Sidha businesses, Vedic Atoms, early Purusha, Washington DC, Neil Paterson and his team of Canadian WYMS, then Vedic Science. A wonderful, lively time of the Movement, and it was a pleasure to be part of it all. Nothing like the negative things that some people write about Maharishi or the Movement.
