Based on my drives through Tennessee and Virginia I would
guess the Gores would have traveled up Interstate 81 and would have taken noon
meals between Bristol and Lexington. Virginia, not being in the deep South,
probably was not  as adamant about segregation
policies.

case, the right wing workingso hard to paste the racist label on Gore the
racist labelwould have moved heaven and earth to document
integratedrestaurants along that route, to prove Gore was not onlya
  racist but a liar.

I just got through addressing this point but will do so again.
Most of those establishments would be very old by now , at least 50 years old or
older. Many if not most probably would have gone out of business, changed names,
ownerships, moved and again how many places that openly practiced segregation
would own up to it now. That would almost guarantee a visit from Jesse Jackson
demanding restitution. There was no need to go any further with the story
since it was Al's mammie that said she was forced to wait in the car while they
ate at whites only restaurants. Why didn't Gore find the restaurants and get
testimony from them that they didn't serve "colored" and they were the only
restaurants in the vicinity? Your question works both
ways.

Gores to "prove" theircontention of racism, they'd have knocked
themselvesout to document the Gores were lying if they
  couldhave.

Most places that had at one time segregated their customers or
didn't allow blacks to eat at their establishment wouldn't own up to such a
thing these days and we are talking about places that would be 50 years old or
older by now. How many would you expect to still be in business? Restaurants,
hotels and motels come and go. I doubt the people that made the accusations
needed to go any further in proving their point than Al's mammie  who had
first hand experience and Al Sr.'s voting record on civil rights. As far as Gore
Sr. being a staunch segregationist, I doubt that also but at the same time he
sure made use of it and tip toed through the tulips. And as I said earlier he
was no Martin Luther King. I'm sure he recognized some time that he
had to project a different image if he wanted to remain in the Democratic Party
and Politics in general as did Robert Byrd.

Arguing is the only level of spiritual
discussionwith which Judy is comfortable.  Just watch.
Everytime the discussion moves into the realm of realexperience, and
people here start having conver-sations that she can't join in because she's
neverhad any of those experiences, within a couple of days she will
start an argument about petty things to bring the level of the conversation
down to a level she is comfortable with.  It's a ten-year pattern
on a.m.t.  The appropriate reaction is notfrustration but
pity. It's not that she's bad or evil or
just trying to fuck us over. It's just that she places alot of stock in the
rational mind. She is either a virgo or leo. Probably a virgo with leo
ascendent. A frustrated over weening cumpulsive virgin with delusions of self
importance. I don't pity her, I just block her emails and I'm a better person
for it.  Sorry Judy, we tried. I would say Aquarius moon perhaps to lend
itself to this sort of topic in the first place.

By sometime in the fifties segregation was, for the most part,
limited to the country club type establishments, where rich white folks didn't
want to be around ANYBODY with less stature then themselves. Most places were
integrating some faster than others, and some slower than others. Depending on
when the Gores were traveling back and forth between Nashville and DC I find it
hard to believe they couldn't find decent food establishments that
would  accept Al's Mammie. Sounds more like they had a favorite place
or two that were higher class and didn't allow "coloreds" and they told Mammie
all the places were segregated and they had no choice. Al Gore Sr. I'm sure
did some nice token things for black folks as even most segregationists would
also do, after all he was in politics. But he was no Martin Luther
King.
