Leslie, Sorrybrain's not working [yet/again]. I thought you had lost Alex. Is he ok now? I also know only too well about liver failure/damage in cats My dear, old, ancient Puma went into liver failure when I was having new flooring put in my house. The d_mn idiots didn't do something or other & poor Puma walked in poison I swear, Puma is my miracle boy With all he's been throughand to think, I rescued him due his "seniority" - he was faced w/ PTS by shelter ONLY because of his age ( I'm just so glad I was there for him, just like he's always been here for me.And I pray he'll be with me much longer. RE: Hideyo - FIP - and to my dear Leslie..
Leslie.. thank you so much for your kind words.. I so appreciate it – I have way many many cats and I don’t want to freak you out – so I won’t say it J - I guess this is sort a lesson that it made me learn hard way by continuing to take in animals when others advised not to. and I feel very badly, but at the same time,, I am trying to focus on where they are now.. they are at a place where there is no more pain.. and it gives me some piece of mind.. I just miss them too terribly… I have two more kitties who are ill and am not sure what’s wrong.. one is feral.. Barbie – and I cannot catch her.. but she has not been eating for the last couple of days.. and she came from the same colony as Naomi, Dharma, and Olive.. I am hoping and praying that she just has a cold.. but she has some URIs and am worried about her (but again, I am trying not to worry too much, but instead visualizing her in a happy and all healthy.. she was a good friend of Olive and she must miss her, too) -- she is black and white – sort of tuxedo, kitty, and Olive is also a beautiful tuxedo (she has a long hair and Barbie is short hair) – Barbie did not look like she had lost any weight.. please pray Leslie that she is going to be just okay.. Also, I just sent another posting for my little missing little Pete – a little orange tabby --- please pray that I will find him safely soon – I sent a meditation,, would you repeat the meditation for him and me and visualize that I will be reunited with Little Pete again very very soon – thank you Leslie—I am sorry for being so demanding and needy.. And so soon. But don't let what has taken Dharma, Peter, Naomi, and Olive take you too. Take your time, don't rush the healing or grieving, but no fault can be laid at your feet. The only way you would be to blame is if you knew that you were doing harm to them. You didn't know that, and I don't think that you did any harm, but we can agree to disagree on that. How many cats do you have? Whatever the number, there are many of us with that many or more, not to mention the shelters, so there is no way that you knowingly put them in a bad situation. Leslie, I know of 2 very effective enzymatic cleaners - anti-icky poo (yes, seriously, that's its name) and liqui-zyme. One of the vets at my clinic has successfully rid a SUITCASE of INTACT male spray with the liqui-zyme. here are a couple of links: www.antiickypoo.com www.anti-icky-poo.net https://www.unitedlabsinc.com/usa/catalog/shopexd.asp?id=882 https://www.unitedlabsinc.com/usa/content/pdf/label/455label.pdf these tell about the product (united 455 liqui-zyme) https://www.shop.themicrobusters.com/splashPage.hg this is the opening page of where to buy liquizyme - best price, truly - they charge 65-ish for a case (4 1 gal or 12 1qt) and the only other place I've seen it is at my vet clinic and they sell one of those quart bottles for nearly $40!! https://www.shop.themicrobusters.com/quickSearch.hg and here are the 2 options for purchasing it I really think it's a great product and you can use it EVERYWHERE - laundry, carpets, catboxes, toilets etc etc etc oh, haven't smelled the Sunshine recipe but the Cimarron smells fab:) Barb+Smoky the House Puma+El Bandito Malito"My cat the clown: paying no mind to whom he should impress. Why don't you think about replacing the whole seat? You might be able to find one in a junk yard that's in good shape. Shouldn't your insurance cover this? It is damage inflicted during the theft. This morning I loaded in my groceries, my school books, the cats, go back in kiss Ed goodbye, grab my breakfast in a tupperware from the fridge and go back outside to find someone in my car backing it out of the driveway. The doors were unlocked, but there was no key inside it, so they must have hotwired it. I ran at the car backing up, yelling, "hey" and "get out" and banging on the windshield, I in fact, smashed the tupperware against it, having no other weapons (eggs went everywhere), but they kept going. Ironically the 20 lb biology book was probably the most valuable item in the car, not that its street value would amount to much. Naturally, I've spent the morning searching that area to see if the cats might have been tossed there, too, but haven't found anything. Satch knows his name and comes to it, so I hope that they at least stay together. Pray that the police call ( I have Ed's cell phone, mine was in the car, but maybe they'll

I don't know which is more likely, them to get thrown out, or to be kept in. Satch is probably talking the thief's ear off because he didn't get fed before we left. I am so scared that they'll have been thrown out. Satch is a big guy, was found on the streets, he can handle what is likely to present itself to him, but the kittenoh you guys, I'm so scared. I would have thought they'd be a theft deterrant. He threw my book bag out the window across from a nearby park, I have no idea why that item of all that he could have (my overnight bag, grocery bags, etc), and figure that it's God's way of saying that even through this stress I still have to study. ha. Pray that the police call ( I have Ed's cell phone, mine was in the car, but maybe they'll be able to use it's tracking device to locate it ), and pray that they have good news. Picture Satch and Beatrix oblivious to my concerns and sleeping on the back seat, or hanging out on a nice porch waiting for me to find them. Pray that they not be stressed, but get back to me after a harmless adventure on their end. please pray that I see them again and that they are unharmed. we never have any guarantees with any of the critters that share our lives--it used to make me nuts when people would bring FeLVs to the sanctuary, asymptomatic, and say they couldn't keep them, "because they were going to die." well, we all are, folks i know of as many $1500 showcats (don't get me started) who have keeled over with no warning as i do "sick" cats--loving them while we have them is all that really matters, because, no matter HOW long that is, it will NEVER be long enough how dare i assume that a cat who might only have a few weeks deserves love and companionship less than one with years? arh.. I'd grown up with all sorts of critters, but it took a few years after graduating college to finally get in a situation where I could own my first "all mine" pet. I'd been wanting this cat forever. Despite this, when he called to tell me that she was positive and anemic and had "maybe" a month to live, told me to expect to see rapid deterioration, blah, blah, blah, I was again distraught. The next week, against the back drop of her romping around and talking to herself, chasing bits of dust, knocking things over (her favorite was to knock my glass of water onto me at night), trying to escape, I called everyone that I knew hysterically telling them that my cat was dying. The vet said so. Eventually, emotionally spent. I hung up the phone, slumped down against the wall and lethargically, tearfully gazed over at her across the room. Making eye contact, she marched over and placed a World Cup worthy head butt against my pathetic forehead. I giggled. And I realized that I was being a dumass. Maybe she had this disease. Maybe she was dying, but who of us isn't? She wasn't dead, and I was wasting time being a melodramatic human. So instead of focusing on how she was going to die, I focused on how she was going to live. I didn't have any support, but I found a raw feeding list and, though I didn't switch to raw for a while, I started researching the feline diet. And I put her on a better food. And I moved into the city and found a good vet. I took her in for check-ups and loved the heck out of that cat until she passed two years after I'd adopted her of a heart attack (myocardial infarction). Yes, my life infarcted at that point, and I still miss my sweet marshmallow-y friend, who would lay on my arm at night and purr, and gaze into my eyes like she was proud of me. But she'd led me to another positive cat to adopt, Hepburn. And Hepburn led me to Satchmo that I have today (also positive). And Sushi, after all, after all that that jerk vet said, never did deterioriate. Never did succomb to the leukemia. I owned Hep for 2 1/2 years, she did die of FIP, which was probably leukemia related, but I'd gotten her as an older kitten, so even there, she was on the high end of her life expectency and she, too, was an amazing, happy, healthy cat until the end. Satch I've had for two years now, I adopted him at 5 years old, so we don't know when he was exposed to the virus, but he's the biggest, stompiest guy you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting, and other than being susceptible to URI's (which as long as I don't bring home sick kittens that already have URI's) hasn't been any problem. I have high hopes for him going a very long time. And I'm thinking of adopting him a friend - either a positive kitten or a negative adult cat - once he stops coughing. I know that this has been long, and work is piling up, but I just wanted to tell you my story. Let you know that I understand what you're feeling, but take your cues from Crackers. Is he laying around in dirty pajamas, watching Ricki Lake, stumbling amongst empty Chinese take out cartons, wondering "why me?" This is a terrible illness, but not one that is powerful enough to take the good times away while they are here. Get a new vet. Pinpoint when Crackers was exposed. What happened to Pokemon? Was she positive? Put Crackers on a good diet - there are lots to choose from ranging from Max Cat to raw feedi

P.S. Re: To Leslie Re: Kitten update and FIP question
P.S. Please keep us posted on Powder's adoption. I would love to hear how Satchmo adjusts to her and the funny stuff that happens after you bring her home! :) Wendy --- wendy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Leslie, > > Congratulations on Powder's future adoption! > Absolutely, there are kittens who throw off the > virus > and become healthy adults, and even if they don't, > they can live with it for a long time. To Leslie Re: Kitten update and FIP question
Leslie, Congratulations on Powder's future adoption! Absolutely, there are kittens who throw off the virus and become healthy adults, and even if they don't, they can live with it for a long time. Many die before age 3, but some do not. My kitty Cricket lived to 4.5 years, and I truly believed he would have lived longer had he not been stressed out by ten family members staying with us in our 1500 sq. ft. house for a week during Hurricane Rita. He shortly thereafter developed anemia. If I were you, I would be giving the L-lysine and the Mega C for the rest of kitty's life. Also, good quality food, like Evo. And LOTS of love and snuggles! Bless you! :) Wendy __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
To Leslie Re: Introduction and new cat question
Hey Leslie, You're right, the FeLV vaccinations aren't 100% effective. I think it's more like 80% or so; not sure. But the vaccinations, coupled with the fact that FeLV is NOT easy to spread, makes for a good combination when mixing pos's and neg's. My cats (3; one very geriatric) lived with my Cricket for four years, and I didn't know he had FeLV for the first two years, so they weren't vaccinated then. None of the 3 have FeLV now, and Cricket has been gone for 9 months. Many people here mix too. So I am big believer in mixing. :) Wendy __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
