These articulations you added by opening the library WILL be in this document the next time you open it. They will NOT be in your default document until you open a blank file using your default document, open the library and then save it again under the same default document name (default.ftm or whatever you named yours.) helgesen wrote: > Chas Small, and others have asked, if I find trill to Flat, sharp, natural to > advise where- well, guess what! > > Under "File"- click on 'open library'- click on 'engraver fonts' folder- > click 'articulations' > > When articulations next opened, there is an enlarged selection (with many > duplications) but - on 2001 anyway- numbers 59,60,61,62 are the various > 'trill-to' > > I'm assuming (hoping) that these will be attached to this particular file > and will be there every time I open it. [Finale] Someone seeking a singing instructor for youth
Just on the off chance that someone on this list is interested, I was contacted by a youth organization in upstate New York. Can't do this myself. They are looking for someone to come up there and do a one-week instruction gig, working with youths ages 6-18. They pay transportation, room & board, and $800 bucks. 'Way upstate, 2 hours outside Binghampton. Send me a private email if you are interested. Re: [Finale] small bug & work-around
Pickups as implemented in Finale are always a pain in the butt. Instead, set the first measure to be 1/4 but click the box to use a different time signature for display and set that to be 4/4. Then the tuplets should stay as you want because it is a normal measure, not the hybrid bastardization that Finale uses for pickups. My preferred work-around is not to use the Wizard to set up the pickup, but instead make bar 1 a 1/4 bar, but displayed as 4/4 (or whatever). Of course you have to adjust the measure numbers to compensate. Regards John ___ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

Staff Styles were introduced in Finale 2000, and that's what DeliusFan ought to use for the instrument change. - Darcy - [EMAIL PROTECTED] Boston MA ___ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale

RE: [Finale] possibility of changing transpositions within a piece
Yes, in Fin2k2 its much simpler as you merely apply a staff style which I dont believe were available yet in Fin2k. In that case, I would use an additional staff for the 2nd part and then optimize them for score purposes. This also preserves correct playback. For part purposes, I extracted them as a group and copied A to B. I'm beginning to discover why I had always kept my movements in separate files before; no lengthy optimization process, a clean instrument list, etc. Now I have run into a new problem: is it possible to change the transposition of a staff midstream; say, I want to change from Bb clarinets to A clarinets. Yes, I realize I can attack the key signature, but playback will sound just awful (that is to say, unintended dissonance) and I rely on the playback to keep my transposing skills honest. There are so many other things that one can check or not check in the staff attributes box that mainly affect playback and have nothing to do with the appearance on the page, yet, as far as I have found, there is nothing in the manual about changing your instrument midstream. I am currently stuck with 2000, so if it happens to be addressed in a later version, please let me know. The best way to handle instrument changes is to use staff styles. Create a staff style with the transposition attributes and staff name settings you need (i.e., A clarinet), select the passage to be played on that instrument, and apply the style. There are several preexisting instrument staff styles in the default staff style library, so you can look at those for reference if you need to see how this is done. Also, make sure you have upgraded to the very latest update for Fin2000. There was a nasty bug involving Staff Styles in the initial release of Fin2000 that was subsequently corrected in one of the minor updates. Finally, could you please configure your mail client to send plain text mail instead of HTML? Most people here prefer not to have HTML mail sent to the list. [Finale] small bug & work-around
FYI This sent to Coda: Create a score (in 2002 latest), set pickup as one quarter note, enter the pickups in one part as an eighth note triplet figure (with three triplet eighths), extract that part. Finale thinks that the quarter note pickup measure should contain 2 eighths, and does not understand the tuplet assignment in that measure, and it leaves out the first note of the triplet. I'm sure that the work-around would be to select a dotted quarter pickup, and that'd be likely to work without a hitch, but someone should take note of this. Hello! I'm looking for an accent symbol that looks like the accents in the old Durant editions (the 2 lines of the accent are slightly bent inwards, instead of 2 totally straight lines pointing to the tip as in most music fonts).
