[Finale] Midi problem mit OS 10.10.4 redux

2015-07-27 Thread Eric Fiedler
David and friends,
Sorry to belabor the list with our problems, but time is running out …
We now have a new MIDI interface and the computer is once again talking to the
MIDI keyboard. Note entry is fine, but playback is very strange – possible due
to too much fiddling around trying to fix the old system. When I enter a series
of four-voice chords on one staff, for example, only the lowest note in each
chord plays back! What have we messed up and/or what are we missing and how can
we fix it?
Thanks for any and all ideas.
Eric

Hi,

Your DX7 is probably not connected at all, I mean sometimes you think,
that the device is connected but the cursor - of the speedy entry tool
- is just "resting" on that particular line or space!
Go to midi setup and here you can se the midi ports your system
provides you with. Select the midi port and then it should be working.

As I recall, The DX7 only sends and receives MIDI channel 1. Check
your "MIDI SETUP" so that it's set the same way as before your
computer problem?

This is really not my area of expertise. Someone else please jump
in and help Bob.

I have always used speedy entry with an ancient DX7. I get

Under the "Speedy Menu", have you checked "Use MIDI device for
input" ?

Sorry about your loss. The DX7 is a hell of an axe! I love it.
Weighs a ton, though.

Does your DX show up in the Audio/Midi set-up? If not, defining it there
should make it available from within Finale again.

Could you perhaps have the keyboard set up wrong in OS X?

Perhaps to check "use MIDI keyboard"?? Your entry cursor is likely sitting on
the midline B.

Hi Bob,

Ray gave you good advice, but there's another thing you need to do. I'm not
sure exactly what you mean by "I get everything I imput except the correct
pitches," but you ought to make sure you've selected the DX7 for the midi
channels you're using in "midi menu" >> "midi setup" >> input/output.

Hope this helps.

Not sure which version of OSX you are using. CoreMIDI was not really
working condition until Jag, however.

Anyway, I too experience FinMac MIDI problem at launch time to time (tho
I haven't seen it since 2005a), while any other DAW app won't display
this problem. I suspect something is funky in Finale CoreMIDI. All what
I have to do is to open MIDI Patch Through dialog and close it without
doing anything else, and MIDI just kicks in. Weird.

yesterday. Took no notice as I was looking not
listening.

Now I have a mountain of work to do (don't you believe it) my midi is
not behaving itself.

Inputting in speedy entry from my keyboard the wrong notes are
appearing.

eg . i input cfac and got all Bbs, another time all As.
Done a Disk Warrior repair but not improvement.
Any ideas (please)
