[Fink-devel] pop and imap for 10.4

2005-06-13 Thread William Scott

Dear Remko:

These get installed with pine, so there might be a package conflict,
but I am unable to get those to work, so I would happily test your
package on my system. Could you post the info and patch files to the
package submission queue?

I tried compiling this myself as late as yesterday and am still
having authentication problems with Mail.app. If you have any
additional advice, that would be great to have too.

 That works fine as long as the CWD is set to the right location. Often,

Oh, so is it something like CWD is doc/x11 when reading

I have noticed that hostlogo and news got this error sometimes, but
not always. include is used everywhere, mostly with relative path. Is

You can always manually remove any package that dpkg says is causing a
problem. For example, either one of the following would probably have
solved it:
  fink remove fink-buildlock-kdelibs3-ssl-3.4.1-21
  dpkg -r fink-buildlock-kdelibs3-ssl-3.4.1-21
Buildlocks are just ordinary packages that fink uses internally.

Fink automatically cleans up buildlocks when it finishes building
(regardless of whether the build succeeded or not). The only way they
get left is if you crash your system or interrupt the lock removal
itself. No real way to program around that:(

[Fink-devel] Xcode 2.1 patches

2005-06-13 Thread Matthew Sachs
I've been going through my latest build results (currently uploading
to sancho, which is being slow today), and I've patched all of the
packages I was able to try building which were unhappy with Xcode
2.1. Emails have gone out to maintainers.

The three big categories of failure I saw were:

*error: array type has incomplete element type
Cause:
struct foo bar[];
struct foo { ... };
Solution:
struct foo { ... };
struct foo bar[];

*build/foo: No such file or directory
Cause: xcodebuild build directory structure changed in 2.1.
Solution:
strip build/foo || strip build/Deployment/foo
OR:
xcver=$(xcodebuild -version | grep DevToolsCore | sed
's/.*DevToolsCore-//' | sed 's/\..*//')

if [ -z $xcver ]
   then echo Couldn't determine xcodebuild version 21
   exit 1
elif [ $xcver -lt 620 ]
   then builddir=build
else
   builddir=build/Deployment
fi

strip $builddir/foo
strip $builddar/bar

*configure: error: C++ compiler cannot create executables
Cause: Invalid command-line option being passed to
compiler. We let some unknown options silently slip by pre-2.1.

Solution: Check config.log for the option and remove it.

There was also a compiler crash in gdal which I've filed a radar on,
I'll send the maintainer a workaround when I have one.

It's not new, and in such cases you should just remove the buildlock

  This is correct.
  Nor will it until there are changes to the nessus source code.
  As of right now, nessus simply cannot be built under gcc4. This
is not a

fink issue. This is a nessus+gcc4 issue.
