A new version of scrollkeeper (0.3.12-1) was just released (in unstable) this past week. The reports that I've gotten said that this seems to fix the problem. Try removing ~/.Xauthority I will try that as soon as everything is recompiled. Although I'm not sure that it is a permission related issue. The X Server certainly starts, Motif and GTK applications seem to run without problems, so I'm inclined to think that it's more KDE ( or DCOP ) specific than this. Of course having said that I know relatively little about how xauth and .Xauthority work, never paid them any notice in fact until just now, and perhaps even less about how KDE applications connect to a display or communicate with each other ( which, I'm guessing is what DCOP manages, interprocess communication and that sort of thing... ). [Fink-users] Libtool 1.4.2 and 1.4.3 C++ bundle linking problems
Hi, I am having trouble with Fink's libtool, trying to compile a module for Python. With 1.4.2-5, I get this: /bin/sh ./libtool --mode=link g++ -o libmk4py.la -g -O2 -I../unix/../include -I../unix/../src -I. -module -no-undefined -avoid-version \ -rpath /usr/local/lib PyProperty.lo PyRowRef.lo PyStorage.lo PyView.lo PWOImp.lo column.lo custom.lo derived.lo fileio.lo field.lo format.lo handler.lopersist.lo remap.lo std.lo store.lo string.lo table.lo univ.lo view.lo viewx.lo rm -fr .libs/libmk4py.la .libs/libmk4py.* .libs/libmk4py.* g++ -bundle -o .libs/libmk4py.so PyProperty.lo PyRowRef.lo PyStorage.lo PyView.lo PWOImp.lo column.lo custom.lo derived.lo fileio.lo field.lo format.lo handler.lo persist.lo remap.lo std.lo store.lo string.lo table.lo univ.lo view.lo viewx.lo -lc -install_name /usr/local/lib/libmk4py.so g++: -install_name only allowed with -dynamiclib With 1.4.3-1, I get this: gcc -r -keep_private_externs -nostdlib -o .libs/libmk4py.so-master.o PyProperty.lo PyRowRef.lo PyStorage.lo PyView.lo PWOImp.lo column.lo custom.lo derived.lofileio.lo field.lo format.lo handler.lo persist.lo remap.lo std.lo store.lo string.lo table.lo univ.lo view.lo viewx.lo gcc -bundle -o .libs/libmk4py.so .libs/libmk4py.so-master.o -lc ld: Undefined symbols: [...] std::terminate() vtable for __cxxabiv1::__class_type_info vtable for __cxxabiv1::__si_class_type_info The problem with 1.4.2 seems obvious; the problem with 1.4.3 is that, no matter what I try to do (RangerRick suggested CC=c++) libtool uses gcc for linking. If I try to use -lstdc++, libtool 1.4.3 complains that it can't link it dynamically and refuses to create a bundle, only a static library, which is useless for what I need. Any ideas? Re: [Fink-devel] Re: [Fink-users] Virex ships/overwrites fink libraries
Kyle's prior post was right. The RTF files mention curl, but no other open source projects. So to be fair, there really should be mention of OpenSSL and dlcompat, and possibly also fink, since it was pretty obvious where they got some of these libraries. Also, and not to be nasty, but since this is now a known issue and a number of sites have been alerted for not mixing fink with Virex 7.2, should we move further discussion off list? -John On Saturday, Feb 8, 2003, at 11:00 America/Chicago, David R. My understanding from one of the forums in which this has been discussed is that Virex comes with a ReadMe file which discusses the licenses. That is perfectly adequate for most open source licenses, and in any event, it's not our business to enforce the licenses of the software packages we happen to distribute. (If they seem to be violating the license, the violation can be reported to the author of the package.) In addition, they used Fink packaged software without telling the Fink Developers about it or placing a notice in the software! Which is annoying and should be told to them. Actually, I have no problem with them using the software without acknowledging it. What *is* a problem is that they installed things directly into /sw, which interferes with the operation of Fink. We need a web page somewhere on the Fink site which explains why this is a problem, and gives some suggestions (like in Ben Hines' posts on the McAfee Virex forum) about what a software developer should do if she or he wants to re-use Fink stuff (in order to avoid interfering with Fink). -- Dave --- This SF.NET email is sponsored by: SourceForge Enterprise Edition + IBM + LinuxWorld = Something 2 See! http://www.vasoftware.com ___ Fink-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users

[Fink-users] curl ftp fails due to my firewall
Hi folks: I've tried with no success to figure out how to poke a hole in my ipfw firewall that will enable curl ftp to fetch files from an ftp site. I also tried switching to curl-ssl but that didn't help. Normal ftp and sftp works, so I am at a loss. What port and protocol do I need to allow this? When I suspend my ipfw firewall, it works, so I know that it must be the culprit, but this isn't a pretty way to do fink updates. Thanks in advance.
