Harrison Fjord is home
This message is from: Tamara Rousso [EMAIL PROTECTED] Harrison Fjord (Anvil's Harrison) passed his pre-purchase exam and is home with us! Wahoo! He checked out just fine except needing his teeth floated and his hooves trimmed. Easily fixed and appointments in the works. The seller agreed to deliver him for me, but I can't for the life of me figure out why. Her trailer and pickup truck were both badly in need of new tires. I live 2 hours away and 1/2 hour from the vet's she had a blow out on the trailer. The appointment ended up being 1 1/2 later then scheduled. Harrison seemed a bit nervous unloading, but who could blame him. He was a gem for his exam and then it was time to get him to my house. The seller had a tire going flat on her pickup by this time, so she just wanted to unload Harrison and get to a tire store. I have llamas and was worried about how Harrison might react to these long-necked creatures with the big ears. Silly me! He walked down our long driveway and past the llamas to his pen without missing a beat. A much nicer outcome than the last horse we unloaded on our property. The kids had bought him a new halter and lead which they immediately put on him and led him around his pen. What a gentleman! I couldn't ask for nicer ground manners. Then he got fed and groomed, and groomed, and groomed... We are just so happy! I'm still pinching myself to believe it is real. Re: Fjord Herald
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] The Fjord Herald is the official (?) publication of the NFHR. I think you can register online at www.NFHR.com Come to the edge he said; We are afraid they said. Come to the edge he said; They came. He pushed them; and they flew. - Guillaume Appolinaire
Fjord Herald
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] What is this publication, the Fjord Herald? Carol wrote of it her latest note and I would like to know what it is and its availability. I am in San Diego. Just for kicks, I have a PMU Fjord, today he is 8 months old and what a joy he has been for me! He is very smart and growing like a weed. One small problem. I don't have another young horse for him to be a horse with and he may be looking at me as a horse sometimes; nothing out of line, just real mouthly and wanting to nibble on me at times. Suggestions? THanks
Merek
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I don't know what to do, but would like to help out a friend. As you know, Merek lost his beloved horse, Lars recently. He's bereft. And is really wanting the support of the fjord community, and wants to buy another pony. He's sent emails that have gone unanswered to try to get reinstated. I sent an email to you Cynthia, and I don't know if you got it or not. I never got an answer either. In the meantime, Merek is going through this time of crisis without the support that I know he could use from the wonderful members of this list. Is there anybody who can tell me what Merek needs to do to get signed up again here? I'll be happy to relay the information on to him. Thanks! Pamela Northern Holiday Horses

Re: Hestekjoretoy
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Ulp! I'm sorry the name of the book on Norwegian vehicles was so horribly garbled in my post to this group. I wanted to be typographically correct, but didn't realize the email system would not understand the slashed o character correctly in my subject line. I think I'll just stick to Hestekjoretoy from now on! DeeAnna
Re: Cool Whip . . . Cooled-whipped semen available
This message is from: Arthur Rivoire [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi Everybody from Carol Rivoire at Beaver Dam Farm in Nova Scotia - Arthur and I got back to the farm after four weeks in New England for the holidays. Our treasured Stable Manager, Jaimie, stayed on the farm to run things. -- The first thing Arthur and I did on arrival was to go out to the barn and check the horses. All twenty of them looked great despite the horrendous cold we've had the past little while. Next thing was to have a drink and peruse the post and email. -- I was delighted to see that the Fjord Herald had arrived and looked forward to thoroughly reading it when I climbed into bed. -- When that time came, I snuggled down in anticipation of a good read. Well, since I always devour every word of the Herald, it took me awhile to reach page 30 and the nice stallion ad from Deep Creek Farm. All of a sudden I whooped with uncontrollable laughter causing my tired husband to sit bolt upright in bed and demand to know 'what the hell was the matter'. -- I managed to control myself long enough to tell him there was an ad in the Herald for 'Cooled whipped semen' at which point both of us disolved into tear-streaming laughter. That has to be a classic typo --'Cooled whipped semen' . . . Absolutely wonderful! I'll never look at Cool Whip, or for that matter, any whipped topping the same way again. I doubt I'll ever eat it again. RE: fjordhorse-digest V2004 #7
This message is from: Paulaj Steinmetz [EMAIL PROTECTED] I just received my Fjord Herald and WOW!! I have to congratulate all of the owners of stallions and foals in this issue. If these sires (and mares), and babies are any indication of the future of the Fjord horse, the breed is in GREAT shape. Congratulations again to all these owners on the wisdom of their breeding programs. WOW!
MWFHC Winter Meeting, Feb 27-29
This message is from: Katherine Carter [EMAIL PROTECTED] If those of you in the MWFHC are looking for more program sponsors for the Blue Earth show, you might want to check with the Nordic World shop in Frost, MN, right next to Blue Earth. We stopped in the shop after the show last summer and the owner (Sondra, I think) said she would like to advertise in the program. Her shop had a great collection of hard-to-find books and other scandinavian items; I got a lovely Norwegian painting of a Fjord pulling a load of wood. You could contact her thru her webpage at www.nordicworld.com. -Kathy in ME
Re: NWSS Jan.22 Dancing w/ Horses / Boomba!
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ...We'll be easy to pick out of the Fjord crowd -- Boombah is the only red dun and her mane will be cut in diamond points! Hope to see you at the Stock Show!... Well, hot damn, Karen - you make it too easy to spot Boombah! (big grin) Thanks for the tip - I am planning to come down about 2 hrs before show time (was advised 1.5 hrs at least). Think that will be an ok time to come for a quickie visit with Boomba? I don't want to be underfoot while you're getting ready! :-) Won't be able to come after the show - as I normally crash (go to bed) about 8:30pm (will be loading up on the ol' Mt.Dew as it is! LOL) Let me know if there's another time earlier that would likely be better! Sher in Aurora - who still remembers round little Boomba at Troyer's Auction (and would love to see her new slim mean'n'lean bod now!) :-)
