Hi Jean,

Your story of Gunnar reminds me of my grumpy mini, Spot. Unless he is
trapped by a wall, when I try to get close to pet him he turns his butt
towards me. How rude! Even when I am offering grain!! I wonder if Spot, a
loud black and white appaloosa stallion, is missing his herd of many mini
mares?! Does Gunnar have suitable equine companionship?

I agree as well... Show your Fjord as a Fjord! What I have had good luck
with, is to give the show secretary a copy of the Fjord Breed Standard and ask
that it be forwarded to the judge well ahead of the date of the show. Any good
judge will take the time to familiarize themselves with a breed that they
may not be up to date on.

Best of luck at the show!

Kathleen has a PMU fjord mare that I had rescued a few

kept her alive, while she was in a coma

Hi Linda

Not sure if they travel your way, but Drexler transport is awesome! We used
them when we hauled 18 horses to Winona for the 25th, from Colorado. My
horse had never been on a transport, so I was really worried, and those guys
were the best. Their semi hauler was immaculate inside, and they were so
nice. I would highly recommend them.

There is a page with photos of Holy Helga and Carole Hunter on Andy's
website: www.coachmansdelight.com. Click on Clients & Friends in the left
hand menu, then you will see a link to Carole's page. Carole is a total
riot and has some great stories of competing at CDE on that page. She
purchased Holy Helga as an older mare and it's been such a perfect match!
She is part of what inspired me to start looking at Fjords for myself :)
Carole lives on Martha's Vineyard and I believe purchased Helga from someone
else on the island.

Ann Sullivan would have this woman's name, darned if I can pull it out of my

competing at CDE. I've seen her at Elk Creek and Garden State last
year--the woman's name is, I believe Carole Hunter? Very nice mare. they
were being coached by Andy Marcoux and did quite well. The age, color, etc.
are all in the ball park. The lady calls her "Holy Helga" and they are
having a ball!
If I remember correctly (and that's always an "if"), she was purchased from
a neighbor in Connecticut? Anyway, those are the connections that seem to

Harrisburg Expo

This message is from: "safreivald" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

The Harrisburg Expo in PA was a week ago, and I'm just now getting my head
above water, so to speak,at home, so this note is a bit on the late side.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to the wonderful, generous,
knowledgeable, tireless Fjord folk who came --and stayed for hours--to help
Curt Pierce, Marsha Korose, and me with the Fjord Booth and demonstrations.

John and Martie Bolinski spent the entire very long expo day on Friday and
brought bottomless thermos' of coffee, my granddaughter Kathryn Caputi came
from Charlottesville Friday evening and stayed through Sunday afternoon and
did booth duty, cleaned stalls, carried water . . . , John Herr and Dianne
Singley spent Sunday, and Al Smith, who brought his wonderful gelding Raoul
for Olaf Nyby to use in his clinics, was just everywhere when we needed him.
And of course Joe Glick was there with Sievert, assisted by his son Ivan
through Saturday evening. Joe and Ivan helped keep us organized and on time
:~).

Due to an unforseen need, Curt had to abandon ship for the weekend and Marsha
and I had it all--two breed demos a day with the pair, and booth manning and
maintenance. Without the presence of these other folks we would have just
been buried alive We've been doing this for a number of years, and the
Fjord community ALWAYS steps up to help. Knowing that makes it both possible
and enjoyable. Again, thank you, guys. Sue Freivald.

This is a long shot but I am trying to help an elderly gentleman track down a
mare he sold about 5 years ago at Troyers Auction in Co. Her name is:HELGA
NFHR Reg. No: SG-C-384-M
She is registered but the person that bought her never transfered their name
onto her registration papers.
This gentleman just wants to see how she is doing.
Thank you,
Cheryl

Thank you all for your notes of condolence both on the list and privately.
I have answer some but there have just been too many to answer them all.

On a brighter note, some of you will remember me posting about my friend
Kathleen
who had bubonic plague last year, she spent 3 months in ICU. She lost all
the fingers on
her right hand and the fingers to the 2nd joint on her left, she also lost
1/3 of her right foot and
the toes on her left. Kathleen has a PMU fjord mare that I had rescued a few
years back. She could be a full
fjord but is likely a cross. Kathleen said that mare, and her love for her,
kept her alive, while she was in a coma
she dreamed of riding this mare and tells very detailed stories of her
dreams. As soon as she was home it was to
the barn to learn how to cope with her amputations and still ride and care
for her horse.

Sunday she entered a show for the first time and was so excited that she had
done well, she wasn't in
the ribbons but she was very please how both her and Tyne had done.

Tyne has a large knee that the vet says has been broken on both sides likely
from stepping through a cattle grid which is probably why she
ended up at a PMU ranch. While the knee looks bad Tyne stays sound while
being ridden at least 5 times a week both
in the arena and on the trail.

What an inspiration these two are and when life gets a bit difficult I think
of Kathleen and all she has been through this last
year and how much she has overcome.

Happy Fjording to you all and thanks again.
