non horse...eBay has been hacked

2014-05-21 Thread Frederick Pack
This message is from: Frederick Pack friendlyfred2...@gmail.com

eBay's morning just went from bad to worse. The e-commerce site confirmed
Wednesday that its corporate network was hacked and a database with users'
passwords was compromised. While eBay says there is no evidence that users'
financial information was accessed in the hack, the company is telling all
users to change their passwords.

eBay contacted CNET after this story was initially published, saying it
discovered recently that it was a victim of a cyber attack on our
corporate information network, which compromised a database containing eBay
user passwords. The company's spokesperson told CNET there is no evidence
that any financial information was accessed or compromised.

The statement follows an odd stream of events this morning when eBay-owned
PayPal posted a blog entitled eBay, Inc. to Ask All eBay users to Change
Passwords. The blog post included nothing but the title, but quickly hit
the Web after it was retweeted dozens of times. The blog post was then
taken
downhttps://www.paypal-community.com/t5/PayPal-Forward/eBay-Inc-To-Ask-All-eBay-Users-To-Change-Passwords
from
PayPal's site, causing even more confusion for users of the online auction
house.

eBay has since posted information about the
hackhttps://blog.ebay.com/ebay-inc-ask-ebay-users-change-passwords/
on
its official blog. The company will ask all users to change their passwords
starting later on Wednesday.

Re: Fence Shorts and Waterers

2013-04-15 Thread Frederick Pack
This message is from: Frederick Pack friendlyfred2...@gmail.com

Steve, the spark from fence wire to some kind of ground will travel through
the water in the pipedepending on the mineral content. Solid metal
pipe to the waterers is LESS apt to shock through the water as the metal
pipe acts as an excellent grounding system. The electrical impulse from the
spark will be dissipated over a larger area. The impulse through a PVC pipe
will be channeled to the easiest point of release..I.E. the horses
nose...to ground...his feet on the earth (if un-insulated from the ground).

The conductivity of the soil also plays a partsand will not conduct an
impulse as easily as iron rich soil.

Steve, it is true that PVC is a good insulator. However, unless you have a
continuous run (no joints) between the source and the waterer, it will pick
up the impulse in the ground. If some part of the water line contains a
metal joint (brass, iron, or preferably stainless steel), that metal part
will conduct the impulse within the water line.

If you had only distilled water in the line, it would never conduct any
electricity. My water softening system leaves traces of salt in the
waterwhich conducts electricity VERY welllet alone what iron is not
caught by the softener.

I check all electrical connections at the Nelsons twice a year for
corrosion as the heaters are fastened to the hot line with twist locks and
subject to moisture condensation within the sewer pipe that they are
mounted on. I clean the wires and install clean twist locks... A dirty
ground wire connection will put residual 115v into the water.

Poor connections in the fence wire will cause an audible small snap, but
not short to ground.

Hope this helps...

Valerie, I have the Nelsons...and have had them for years.
With the heaters, they MUST have a good ground system.
Even with a good ground system, a short in a nearby electric fence will
feed through the water itself (unless absolutely no mineral content...i.e.
pure) ...
I use an AM radio headphones to listen for shorts and track them down.
On my water system is also a water (gallons used) meter, which I monitor
daily for water consumption.
Allowances made for hot or cold days and accessible puddles to drink from.

Good luck finding the problem My Nelsons are invaluable...

We built a new barn and put expensive Nelson waterers in each stall and one
in the paddock. The horses refuse to use them. One of the Fjords will use
it if there is nothing else, one Fjord mare will not use it at all. The old
Morgan has already had an impaction colic but it may not be the waterers
fault. I have tried treats in them, no one cares. I am trying to make my

Dear FJB from FJP,

Your dear Lois is with MY LOIS who passed away this last June after 57

These two Lois's are probably gabbing it up in heaven as they have a
lot in common.

They both loved the Fjord Breed.

The only thing keeping me going now...is the love that I am getting
from these fabulous animals.

I would give you a big hug, if I could.. You must continue on.

Sorry Bonnie, but messages come through Steve's list without red letters etc...

Your quoted comments, by me are correct. Yes, I broke my word. Yes,
I broke a promise BUT BUT BUT:
That was written BEFORE I found out from Lois (my wife) that she had
denied you permission to breed our mare and you did it anyway...TWICE.
That was BEFORE I had to suffer through great financial expense to get
my horses back AND very little of court mandated equipment.
That was BEFORE I was returned horses with hooves untrimmed for over 6 months.
That was BEFORE I was returned a grossly overweight pregnant mare that
was foundering and required extensive care HERE to keep her from being
crippled for life.
That was BEFORE I was threatened with arrest (Trespassing)
if I attempted to visit my horses to check on their welfare. Yes, I
have THAT in writing from you.

Yes, I broke my word.

Yes, I signed a settlement agreement. It contained an OPTION to pay
you additional fees to sign registration papers within 6 months.
That OPTION has expired and is no longer a valid/mandatory part of our
agreement.

I have swallowed my pride and offered you $500 to sign a COB..NOT
registration papers in the interest of OUR foal. That offer is
still valid until midnight 11June2102.

You could not sign registration papers, as mentioned in the
agreement anyway... No mention in our agreement of signing a
Certificate of Breeding as required by the registry.

As far as removing the videos from YouTube, I will use the same excuse
(for not doing so) that you used for not removing pictures of MY
horses in your advertising: I took the pictures [or had them taken
for me] and they belong to me.

BTW, you just admitted that the foal belongs to us. THANKS the
filly will have papers.

Sorry, but I REALLY DID break my word...

Did I have good reasons to do so?

We will NEVER forgive you for what you did to our horses... We
certainly don't need yours...

I WILL cross post this to my list...

We wish you a day that you deserve.

permission was given to do so. NO RISK and NO PROBLEM...Another lie.

If you will not accept our offer of $500.00, then I will petition the
NFHR again to register our foal. We have no obligation to pay you
anything (at present) except $500 which we have committed to HERE
publicly.

This really has no business on this list. My aim is to get our foal
registered.

I hope the BOD is taking note of these developments and your comments

To provide the security and protection of registration to an innocent

Sometimes you have to take sides

2012-06-04 Thread Frederick Pack
This message is from: Frederick Pack friendlyfred2...@gmail.com

Today is the 2nd birthday of our yet unregistered filly, Tova Tu.

It was noted in the NFHR BOD minutes that the BOD didn't want to take
sides regarding registering our baby.

Somehow, I thought the purpose of the NFHR was to promote the Fjord
and protect the breed.

How does doing nothing, I.E. not taking sides promote the well being
of a beautiful little girl?

I suggest you re-read the post by our former trainer, posted on this
list on Tue 3/6/2012 11:00 AM and my un-answered rebuttal posted Tue
3/6/2012 1:03 PM.

In the mediation, the first question asked of us was: Are any horses
involved in any settlement? Answer was Absolutely NOT! Subject
closed.

Apparently our former trainer had no inkling what an option in an
agreement is. Maybe someone should educate her.
The only reason we signed an agreement containing that option clause
was to get rid of her as we had no intention of paying another dime.
What we did pay, as part of the agreement went to HER attorney.

I would like to restate something: Lois and I would be willing to take
a lie detector test to allay any doubts that what we have written and
said IS true.
Our mare was bred against our expressed denial of permission. No
signed breeding agreement, or oral agreement or permission, ever
existed. PERIOD!

It cost us over $30,000 in legal fees to recover our horses. We
agreed to drop any further claims against her for missing equipment
and neglect of our horses.
She, supposedly agreed to drop any and all further claims against
us...THAT INCLUDED THE HORSES.

We have attempted to honor the agreement. She has not. She had
disparaged us publicly.
She claims in a letter to the registrar (in attempting to register our
foal herself) that an agreement exists. That is a lie.
She claimed that she is in the process of claiming our foal. Another
lie? Our baby is still here, eating treats our of my hand and giving
me warm nuzzles.

We spent my retirement money to rescue our horses. We made a
commitment to our horses, and lived up to that commitment.

It is time for the NFHR BOD to grant a waiver of the Certificate of
Breeding Requirement and take a side for the sake of an innocent
horse.

I ask each reader to write to each board member and demand their
reasons for not allowing such an exemption.

The exemption is JUSTIFIED.

When our former trainer was trying to raise money to buy her white
stallion, we were offered breeding's to that stallion for $500.00. We
never signed one or paid her in advance for a breeding. We discarded
the forms.

In the event that the NFHR BOD still lacks the will power to do
something right:

I offer her, NOW, $500.00 to sign a Certificate of Breeding. For the
sake of our baby! She can NOT become sausage.

Ms. Morris, you have ONE WEEK and this OPTION will expire. It will
die, midnight PDT June 11th, 2012. The money is NOT negotiable.
I can put a check in the hands of President Pedersen, to be released
when a COB is received by the NFHR.

Tova Tu says: Don't forget me. I am a pure bred Norwegian Fjord!

Re: Re: registries and Strange symbols

2012-03-03 Thread Frederick Pack
This message is from: Frederick Pack loisp...@hughes.net

Censorship of any criticism of actions/inactions of the NFHR BOD are not to be
on public view??

Some FACTS regarding our similar situation that Ellen commented on, and Curtis
suggested we not discuss OUR case:

Fred got a letter from President Pedersen telling him that he could not contact
any BOD members, nor the Executive, nor the Registrar.  He has to send any
further letters through him...under threat of expulsion and being reported to
local authorities.  This is after Fred sent a letter to ALL the BOD, supposedly
from our unregistered foal hoping that THEY were having a better Christmas than
she was and suggesting that she (the foal) was considering changing her name to
BLACKMAIL.  This was NEVER any kind of threat towards the BOD, nor intended to
be one.  They were asked if they had misplaced their courage...I voiced our
opinion.

However strange it seems in this day and age, I still think under the 1st
Amendment someone is allowed to voice their opinion???  Or, has that right been
trashed too.

We considered the attempt by our former trainer to obtain additional monies
from us to sign a Certificate of Breeding to be what some might call a form of
blackmail.  Our former trainer, who bred our mare against our explicit
forbidding of same, not only bred her onceintentionallybut again on the
second day after she was told not to do it again.  We hoped the breeding didn't
take.

The stallion owner has admitted, in writing TWICE, that she bred our mare to
her stallion.   Yet, the BOD requires THEIR COB to be filed by her.

We applied through the BOD to register our foal through the exception clause,
without the COB.  This exceptional procedure requires a two thirds vote of the
BOD and publishing the exception in the Herald for comments. This was only
AFTER all obligations, including part of our settlement agreement where there
was an option to pay an additional $3,000 for her to sign the REGISTRATION
papers.  We had no intention of paying her another dime.

Now, one of the BOD members has written to our attorney:

I personally believe it is reprehensible for you or Mr. Pack to ask the NFHR
to register the foal under these circumstances.

Is it reprehensible to not submit to what some might call extortion due to
conduct of another beyond our control???

No breeding contract exists.  No verbal permission was ever given to breed our
mare.  IN FACT we verbally denied her permission before it was done
intentionally.

The BOD seems to be afraid of being sued by the stallion owner, even though ALL
claims by both of us are null and void with the agreement and expiration of the
option.  The case has been dismissed by the court and can NOT be brought up
again.

The former registrar, Mike May, told me to tell the board: quote: Tell them to
get a pair and register the da*n horse!  I DID!!

It would seem that the BOD, who I have been told voted unanimously to reject my
petition, might lack a pair.

Shortly after we received a denial of registration on 1Dec11, the stallion
owner attempted to register OUR foal herself (8Dec11) claiming in a letter to
the Registrar that there was an agreement and that she was in the process of
obtaining the foal.

There never WAS an agreement of any kind regarding breeding our mareperiod.

The BOD DID do something right, they turned her down.

This message is not trimmed so that all written here can be put into context.

For Curtisthese are the facts...now YOU know our side of the story.

Hi Valerie,
You're absolutely right. They not only make their own rules, they can decide
whatever they like.
I know of one person who has a horse that was illegally bred by the person
who had custody of his horse at the time.
A judge ruled that the mare had to go back to the rightful owner but the
Registry refuses to register the foal of that breeding even though both mare
and stallion are DNA'd and registered.
The owner of the stallion wants an exorbitant breeding fee. Yes, you read
that right. Even though prohibited from breeding that mare, she still did it
and even wants a breeding fee.
Subsequently, that person is rewarded by the Registry by not allowing the
owner of the mare to register the foal unless the stallion owner agrees.
The registry did not punish the despicable behavior. They rewarded it.
Totally ridiculous and unjust at that too.

=

Lois' note: The stallion owner attempted to register the foal to herself after
the mare owner was turned down by the registry. She was fortunately turned
down.
