I have been a list lurker for several years and have enjoyed the information, comments and culture immensely. I am searching for a registered (Canadian or NFHR) fjord stallion prospect. Temperament and conformation are my primary concerns, and in that order. Any significant movement flaws or genetic based unsoundness would be disqualifiers. The ideal candidate would mature at 14 hands, have a stocky build and be a darker brown dun with pronounced black markings and zebra striping. However, color and size are much lesser considerations. I own 5 fjords, have raised a few colts, and would like to begin my own modest but quality breeding program. My mares are Gjest, Rusten or Gromar granddaughters. Price must be reasonable. I live in southeastern Idaho and would be willing to travel for the right animal. If you have that special yearling or 2 year old that you have delayed gelding because you really believe he has stud potential, please contact me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks. Re: barrel racing
This message is from: Gregor Fellers [EMAIL PROTECTED] And I bet the barrel won! Our kids used to be active in Gymkhana events including barrel racing. My son was skilled enough to compete with the adults. However the only times, he used our Fjords, was when he occasionally wanted to compete in his own class for fun only. Donkey Wisdom - JOKE ALERT
This message is from: Gregor Fellers [EMAIL PROTECTED] A city boy, Kenny, moved to the country and bought a donkey from an old farmer for $100. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day. The next day the farmer drove up and said, Sorry son, but I have some bad news. The donkey died. Kenny replied, Well then, just give me my money back. The farmer said, Can't do that. I went and spent it already. Kenny said, OK, then just unload the donkey. The farmer asked, What ya gonna do with him? Kenny: I'm going to raffle him off. Farmer: You can't raffle off a dead donkey! Kenny: Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he is dead. A month later the farmer met up with Kenny and asked, What happened with that dead donkey? Kenny: I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at $2 a piece and made a profit of $898.00. Farmer: Didn't anyone complain? Kenny: Just the guy who won. So I gave him his $2 back. Boston's St. Patrick Days's Parade
This message is from: Gregor Fellers [EMAIL PROTECTED] The Fellers' Fjords, Hannah and Amy, will once again be on parade, this time at the 100th Annual St. Patrick Day's parade in Boston. Once again they will be in a group of side saddle riders from the International Side Saddle Organization. The parade will be televised on the local Boston TV stations.
salt licks
This message is from: Gregor Fellers [EMAIL PROTECTED] I saw a new (to me) type of salt lick at the grain store yesterday. It is supposed to have chemicals that repel insects and flys. I'm sure it works well this time of year but wonder if it works in the summer. It cost 3 times the regular mineral salt lick. They would be worth the extra cost if they were marginally effective. The cost of traditional fly sprays is excessive. Does anyone know if these are effective and save to use?
Inaugural
This message is from: Gregor Fellers [EMAIL PROTECTED] We are all back safe and sound from Washington DC. Everyone commented on how well the Fjords were behaved and wanted to be sure that they were represented next time. Because of the constant waiting (We were mounted for 8 hours in the rain), and the commotion many of the horses had to be tranquilized and still were unruly. Amy and Hannah would not drink the local water because of the strong chlorine smell in the water from the tap. The entire week we had to provide them with bottled water from the Walmart ($$$). These are the same horses that would battle to the death over a morsel of hay buried in a manure pile. CSPAN had the best coverage, really zoomed in on the Fjords for a few seconds. Our group had 39 riders ranging from 5 to 85 years old. ABS World News approached us after the parade and filmed some coverage, but I am unaware if it was ever aired. The peaceful protesters portraied by the press were not that all peaceful. Many of the horse vans were vandalized and tires were slashed. Luckily our driver stayed with his rig and was uneffected. Thanks to all the list members, for their kind comments posted. Carol Fellers

Fwd: FW: Y2K Backup System
This message is from: Gregor Fellers [EMAIL PROTECTED] This about sums it up. While I believe we will be fully Y2K compliant by January 1, 2000, we obviously need to make some preparations in case unexpected challenges impair our ability to meet the needs of our clients. Enclosed are the instructions for the use of the Y2K Backup System device designed to meet short time emergency needs in case of a computer operations failure, or operational delay. This device is the company's Primary Emergency Network Computer Interface Liaison device (P.E.N.C.I.L.). I have field tested it extensively, including certification testing, as well as volume and stress testing. Properly maintained, the device meets all the requirements for coding and data input. Prior to use, the (P.E.N.C.I.L.) will require preparation and testing. Tools and supplies required will be: A sharpened knife or grinding device; and a supply of computer paper (with or without holes). Gripping the device firmly in your hand, proceed to scrape or grind the wooded end until it has a cone-like appearance. The dark core area must be exposed to properly function. (Left-handed employees should read this sentence backwards, and then go to your supervisor for assistance.) Place a single sheet of computer paper on a smooth, hard surface. Take the backup device, place the sharpened point against the paper, and pull it across the paper. If properly done, this will input a single line. CAUTION: Excessive force may damage components of the device or damage the data reception device. If either the P.E.N.C.I.L. or the paper are damaged, go back to the preparation instructions above. Proper use of the device will require data simulation input by the operator. Placing the device against the computer page forming symbols as closely resembling the computer lettering system you normally use. At the completion of each of the simulated letters, lift the device off the page, move it slightly to the right, replace it against the page, and form the next symbol. This may appear tedious, and somewhat redundant, but, with practice, you should be able to increase your speed and accuracy. The P.E.N.C.I.L. is equipped with a manual deletion device. The device is located on the reverse end of the P.E.N.C.I.L. Error deletions operate similarly to the backspace key on your computer. Simply place the device against the erroneous data, and pull it backwards over the letters. This should remove the error, and enable you to resume data entries. CAUTION: Excessive force may damage the data deletion device. Insufficient force, however, may result in less than acceptable deletion, and may require re-initialization of action as above. This device is designed with user maintenance in mind. However, if support is required, you can still call technical support at (800)-YOU-DUMMY.

Cattle Guard
This message is from: Gregor Fellers [EMAIL PROTECTED] Anyone not know what a cattle guard is? Cattle won't walk over a grate made of pipe, with about 4 inch separations between the pipes...usually wide enough for a vehicle to cross, and about 5 feet or so of pipe grate. This so you don't need to put up a gate at every fence crossing. Cattle will not cross the grate. ~~~ Cattle Guards Need Retraining Not Firing From The Linchpin of the rotary Club of Stamford The following article is supposed to have appeared in the 10/26/94 Newcastle ( Wyoming ) Reporter , written by Per Warner. In the past , I felt many times our government was ignorant of our lifestyles here in the west. According to the article , President Clinton learned there were 100,000 cattle guards in Colorado. Since Clinton was upset with ranchers' protest over his grazing policies, he told U.S. Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt to fire half the cattle guards immediately! Before Babbitt could proceed with the presidents wishes, Colorado representative Pat Schroeder intervened with a request that before any were fired , they would be given 6 months of retraining. Yes, what you have read is true. Hilarious, depending on how you look at it. Scary, definitely George Malaise Midland

We were disapointed that we could not join, but our broswer would not support the Java format. We are here in NH (USA), the black fly capital of the World. (a small beast about the size of a BB that flys into your ear, nose and mouth and otherwise makes you miserable. Their bite causes a welt that a hornet or yellow jacket would be proud. No there is no truth to the rumor that the black fly will become the New Hampshire State Bird.) We have 5 Fjords including one Grey and one Red Dune. We also have a mule which drives, if you can catch her. She protects the Fjords and won't let the neighbor's dogs into the pasture. Just want to thank Mike May for all his help in registering our babies last year. Julie, how was Norway? Did you buy any horses? Has Anitra had her foal yet? It's interesting what everyone does with their Fjords. Our mare SF Hannah is ridden mostly side saddle. We just purchased a rare Off side saddle. Our daughter Angela (17) is planning on riding her as a pair with her friend riding conventional side saddle at Equitana this year. SF Hannah has received many awards from the International Side Saddle Organization and the New England Aside. If anyone wants to visit us, you are welcome. We have miles of dirt roads for riding and driving. We also have a large town owned riding ring as part of our recreation field. The Northeast Fjord bombproofing will be held there this summer.
