Hi List,

Some tv stations have the horse tv channel. However, Direct, and Dish
satellite do not.

If you want to view the channel you will need to turn your computer on, and
go to www.horsetv.com then follow the instructions on how to subscribe.
The cost is about $6 dollars a month. There is a 1 week free trial, so if
it's not for you then cancel it. [ you will need a hi-speed connection]
[ if you still have dial-up, forget it] There are commercials, but they are
all equine types. Saturdays, the programming is a lot of dressage, and
driving, reruns, of the WEG. I know this is a new concept, we live in a
world that is fast changing.

Now, I need to figure out how to record the shows, can someone please help
me on this.

I believe this will be how we will watch tv in just a few short years, it
will be on our computer, not the tv set that we have been watching for 60
years or so.

Hope this helps,
Jerry Friz,
Anderson, Ca.

The one down fall with the horse tv channel, is their scheduling. For the
life of me I cannot figure it out. I guess I will call them.

I rarely watch RFDTV on the tv anymore, some dressage though.

You will need a hi-speed connection. Hi-speed is available just about
everywhere now at a reasonable cost. You might have to look around a bit.
There is Clearwire that works off cell phone towers. [ call them, get your
neighbors to call them, call them once a week, the squeaky wheel gets the

Hi Jerry, Thanks for the heads up about Egon von Neindorff. He trained my
riding instructor, Thomas Ritter. Thomas is the most thoughtful,
insightful
instructor I have come across. You just inspired me to sign up for Horse
TV,
just so I can watch this show. I was going to pay $40.00 to buy the
video!

Just so you know, Egon died several years ago. It is a blessing that we
have
videos of him. I'd love to find video of Nuno Oliveira. I've been
reading

one of his books, and he is simplicity, grace and elegance.

Thank you for the message. I did not know that Egon had died. He did not
look that healthy in the video that I viewed last night. I better figure
out how to record these shows on to a dvd. Yes,Nuno Oliveira was one of the
greatest Masters.

Our hi-speed company is a small mom and pop company [there are a bunch of
them] The antenna is small on the roof, and transmitts a horizontal low
powered signal to a mountain about 12 miles away, then it gets reflected
into the system. $200 dollars installation fee, $ 30 dollars a month.
[ONE CAUTION, BE SURE TO ASK ABOUT STREAMING, you might have a limit on the
amount of bits that you can get each month.]
My cost works out to be $5 dollars less than what I was paying for dial-up.
[per month]

Also, I received a copy of the last post that I sent, first one in a long

I wonder if any one else watched ' The School of Horsemanship', by Egon von
Neindorff ? A one hour show filmed in the Spanish Riding Schools arena. [
Which was built in 1900]

He talked a lot about the training of a horse, importance of timing, etc. and
Music. He is a real master horseman. It will be shown again, but I don't
know when.

The channel quality has really improved the last couple of weeks. I need to
get a 22 inch wide screen monitor.

Gail,
DirectWay (offered by DirecTV) is a separate company from either Dish or
DirecTV.

We have DirecTV here on the ranch.

I just spoke to a salesman at DirectWay and have on order the Sat. system.
I can't get DSL out here in the boondocks with our antiquated phone lines,
nor cable.

Would love to get the Horse TV stuff, but have never seen it on DirecTV.
I'll drop them a note and request that it be included. If enough people
write, they will include it.

On the Dish Network we get RFD on 9409. They some times refer to themselves as
Horse TV---but I think that refers to their 2 hours of Horse TV per day. There
is also a program called Lucy's Cajin Cooking---she is a hoot!

I have Direct TV too, the channel is actually RFD (not RFT) and it is on
channel 379. I believe you have to have the newer two direction dish to get
it, but it is there. (Direct TV will upgrade your dish at no charge if you
ask them - unless you own your dish outright) Horse TV does have some pretty
interesting shows!

There is a tv channel that we get on Dish
>Network(satalite) called RFT-TV. They have shown some quarter horse show
>events and some Paso Fino shows.

For all of you out there in digital TV landCan you help me figure out
which TV service is the best for Horsey TV? We have Direct TV now. We can
get AT&T Broadband Cable. And we can get Dish Network. I've seen NOTHING
about horse TV on either AT&T Broadband or Direct TV, but it may be there.
We are about to move back into our home after more than a year in a rental
house while we remodel (we made the horses stay home to watch the place).
So...we need to choose what cable/satellite service to buy. We really do
make TV decisions based on horsey/ranch type stuff. We used to have a
Sunday night family tradition of watching PMBR bull riding. When we moved
it did not come on at the same time. Destroyed our entire family life! And
Beth Beymer has said that the Dish Network RFT_TV has some great horse
videos...that has me almost convinced to switch from Direct TV to Dish
Network. The only other consideration is whether we can get ABCas my
son-in-law made a presentation to ABC last month that may result in his
getting to direct/produce...or some position like thatan ABC series...in
which case we HAVE to watch that. (Brag, brag.)

In a less horsey vein...if anyone has opinions on the usefulness of Dish
Networks satellite internet access serviceI would love to hear about
that...OFF LIST. I gather Direct TV canned the DirectWay Satellite Internet
accessand I heard that the Dish Network offering (Starband) was in
bankruptcy...so not sure any of them are worthwile.
