New to the list
This message is from: "Derrice Skow" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hello everyone, I'm Zephanie Skow, and have been on the list for awhile, and decided to introduce myself. I'm 14yrs old, and live in Fairmont, MN. I have had horses for five years, and ride western. I have a 5 yr. old Norwegian Fjord mare "Fair Acres Petra," who is a survivor of EPM, my first horse, and the love of my life. I also have a 17 yr. old Quarter Horse "Splash Bar Willa" aka "Pee Wee," that I have recently gotten, and who will hopefully teach me Western Pleasure. I love horses, but especially the fjord breed. Hello to everyone again... Zephanie

This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello Remi, You've certainly come to the right place! Welcome to this list. I've learned things about fjords here that I would never have found out if I hadn't joined. A great place to go to is the NFHR website, you probably already know about it, but if not it is: www.NFHR.com You'll find barns in your area, events going on in your area and more. Pamela
Re: New to the list
This message is from: "Jean Gayle" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi Remi and welcome to the list. I hope you will enjoy your young fjord. I started out with an anglo Arab with much glitz and style. Crowd pleaser etc. Then bred for and got a huge Trakehner/thoroughbred (too much thoroughbred as I aged) who was very brilliant and a judge pleaser. Then bred for and got a warm blood mare and now have my quiet fjord. Not always. My point is that after Arabs a fjord may seem pretty laid back but he can give you all the brilliance, see Wez and Anne Appleby, if you take the time to train it into him. He will be a crowd pleaser by his very appearance, lovable. I am a long time horse owner.and first time Fjord owner as of the end of May. I lost a 1/2 Arab gelding last fallhe was replaced by a 2 year old now geldingregistered name "Prairie Duster". I'm training him from the ground now to drive and will train to ride next year. I board with a friend who has 5 Arabs and live in Michigan. I joined the list to get training tips concerning this breed and would love to know if there are any shows in Midwest area of the US. This message is from: Pat <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Thank you, we are currently working on a website. The cover page is on line, and does have a drawing of mine, I am in the middle of putting together all the other stuff right now and trying to get it off to the fellow actually doing the work. I am very new to all of this "on line" & "web site" stuff, so its a hit and miss job. I do have some other work (cartoons) that will be on the website. Hopefully it will up and running in the next week or so, Please look into it, we wanted it to be fun and light, plus informational. This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello! My name is Tami Howard. I am married and have a 6 month old baby boy. I am eagerly awaiting the vet check (July 7) of a sweet little Fjord filly, Soroya. I am so excited! I have had the joy of working with Fjords in the past and have wanted one for quite some time. Pending the positive results of the vet check Soroya will move from Santa Rosa, CA to live with my family here in Newberg, OR. Soroya is a yearling out of the mare Senja by the stallion Misha. I am hoping to do lots of dressage and trails as well as some eventing with her. I am mostly the lurking type, but I love to read all of the postings. I would also love to "talk" with anyone currently competing and/or training Fjords in the eventing and dressage disciplines. Happy to meet you all. Tami

This message is from: Marge Littleboy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi folks, My name is Marge and I am from Rochester, New York, USA. My husband Bill and I have two Norwegian Fjord mares. I purchased the first mare - Brith - from Hestdalen, which was located outside Chicago, IL. Mr. Gene Bauer was the owner, who I am sorry to say passed away two years ago. While Brith was still at Hestdalen I had her bred and she produced Asta in June '89. At that time Bill and I were not yet married, but he was showing an active interest in the ponies and decided to learn how to drive - which is what I primarily do with them. Well he got hooked and we got hitched - literally!!! I was not aware of the traditional Norwegian wedding until about 2 years ago and had to smile. We were not mounted on the ponies, (as Asta was only 9 months old, I am sure she would have protested!!), we sat in the carriage for the entire wedding, with the minister on a mounting block, in the indoor arena of my girlfriends barn, in the middle of winter, in a candlelit ceremony. If you were to ask Bill why he wanted to drive the pony for the wedding he would say "Do you think I want to get married to her, with her holding the whip?!!!". Seriously, l am thrilled that he has such an interest in the ponies as it does make things so much easier. We have just recently celebrated our 8th anniversary, and it just keeps getting better. This winter Bill decided to take riding lesson and wants to learn how to jump, & if he does as well with the riding as he has done with the driving, I am sure to have a champion on my hands. I feel very fortunate, having many friends who have to deal with a spouse not interested in the same things. Not only is Bill interested/supportive in the ponies, he has gotten me up to speed on the computer - he is the VP of Product Development with a local company and is very computer literate - so I can share our story. We are hoping to get a place of our own soon, at which time we will get both of the girls bred. I would love to have a pair, and Asta was my wedding present to Bill, so I just will have to go for more of these great horses. Such a problem!! Well I have to get back to work, but am sure I will contribute in the future. So long for now, Marge Littleboy, Blomsterdalen Fjords Have YOU driven a Fjord lately??
