Do what feels right! I'm tall (5'10+) and long legged, but I'm not
as skinny as I used to be, and I'm stronger than I used to be too! I
ride Fjords from 13.3 and up, and while the square built ones (like
mine, 14-14.2) are far more comfy for my length, I fit the little
ones and they carry me just fine. My Fjords are school horses, so I
don't ride them very often, and my own riding horses are tall. My
tall horse riding friends crack up to think of me on the Fjords, but
then when they see me in the saddle they are amazed how correct it
all seems!

Thanks for all your comments I am feeling slightly better. I am
only 5ft 4
so not tall. Trouble is over here in UK lots of people ride tall
horses and
it gets your doubting yourself and of course I want to meet my
mare's needs.

Kilar fought his muzzle big time when I first put it on him. I'd find
it just about anywhere in the pasture, frequently with the halter still
attached.. Later, he seemed to get the message, but I'd find him
constantly rinsing it in the water trough. Dip the head down to the
eyeballs then whoosh, up comes the head and the water dribbles out. I
don't know if he is actually rinsing the bits of grass that get stuck
down where he can reach them or if he is cooling his face. No muzzle
this time of year as there is no grass but spring is coming. He will
not be happy to hear that Santa sent both he and Wee Willy nice shiney
new muzzles for Christmas.

2009-02-10 Thread Karen Keith
This message is from: Karen Keith kkke...@hotmail.com

Dear Fjord List: I've been combing the internet for Fjords for sale and came
across one that I thought somebody up in the Michigan area or Northern Ohio
might be interested in.

There's a Fjord mare for sale in Windsor, Ontario, which is apparently close
to Detroit. She's owned by a therapy program but she's not working out as a
therapy horse. They're asking $2,000 for her and need to find her a new home
soon. She might be registered, but the program didn't get her promised
papers. She looks cute in her two pictures, sweet face and looks a nice
enough type. I just thought someone who is closer to that area might be
interested. I don't know anything about her except what's in her ad at
Horsetopia.com and a couple of emails from Becky Mills, the head NARHA
instructor.

Here's the Horsetopia ad:
http://horsetopia.horse-for-sale.org/classifieds/ad337975

And here's the details of the woman who responded to my inquiries:

Becky Mills Head Instructor-NARHA,CTRII Windsor/Essex Therapeutic Riding
Association 4465 Huron Church line rd Windsor ON N9H 1H3 (519)969-1261
beckymi...@wetra.ca

I hope this mare finds a new home!
