I know I asked this before but I can not remember if there was ever a

I have an image inside a mc - that mc (mc1), by default, is set to have an
alpha of 0... that mc is inside another mc (mc2) that is also alpha=0 by
default...

Then, based on some xml that is imported, mc1 may have it's alpha turned to
100... then mc2 will have it's alpha turned to 100 (NOTE: mc2 holds
multiples of mc1 - each of which may or may not have their alpha changed...)

The problem:

The problem is that while the imported text is showing in mc1 - the images
are not... any help?

hope this makes sense

Hi. :)

Sorry for harping on about this when it seems that no one else is
interested, but just in case: There are still tutorial videos about using
the the discontinued Distributable Player Solution (aka: Mobile Packager) up

want to use it, you might want to get copies of the tutorials before they
also dissapear.

I've a personal project that I'll continue to use it on.. at least until
another way of getting my Flash app packaged as a proper app for my Windows

Yep, the typical method is to include a time-stamp in the url, but then
it will _always_ pull the new content. I want to figure out how to only
pull new content when it has changed.

I just ran a test with several different browsers. Chrome 3.0.195.38

I'm using AS2 and targeting Flash Player 8.

When a movie loads in another swf (or an image for that matter), does it
check the server to see if there's a newer version? I will often
include a time-stamp as a query-string parameter to prevent loading a
cached version, but what if I want do use the cached version except in
instances where there is a newer version?

Maybe this depends on the browser?

Uh, well Flash player 9 + AS3 or Flash player 9 + AS2? As Muzak noted,
Flash player 8 doesn't support AS3, so something isn't right in what you
said you're using. :) If you're using things like onPress,onRelease,
you're talking AS2 talk. In AS3, it would be MouseEvent.CLICK etc.

Re: [Flashcoders] does Flash check for code 304 (not modified) whenloading in another swf?

2010-01-21 Thread Nathan Mynarcik
I find this a very difficult task, especially if your clients uses IE as a
standard browser for their company. IE caches are a bit harder to get refreshed
than other browsers. Sometimes, in worse case scenario, I put the "no-cache"
coding in the HTML to prevent every browser/machine from caching. Doesn't help
loading time on the next visit, but at least you know they are receiving the
new dynamic content.

I have also heard that adding a variable to the end of the url in the address
bar seems to make the browser think it is new content. For example, adding a
"?var=1" and the end of your url will make browser think they are seeing new
content and will not pull from the cache.

I've removed all the graphical changes that occur after the first click,
but my button (a MovieClip actually) is not receiving the 2nd onPress or
onRelease unless the mouse gets moved.

What I've found is that right after the onRelease is called, an
onRollOut event occurs. This seems to prevent the onPress. Any clicks
that occur before the mouse is moved will then call onRollOver and
onRollOut in succession.

I'm not looking for a double-click, but rather the second click
(onRelease) "confirms" the user response.

In the GUI, the first click cause a change in the graphic and there is
a prompt "click to confirm".

What I'm finding is that the second onPress and onRelease do not get
called unless the mouse is moved at least one pixel from the position
of the first click.

I'm guessing that this has something to do with the graphical change,
but I can't figure it out. I'll keep looking.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Nope, but browser does. So the result is the same.

[Flashcoders] 2nd onPress ignored unless mouse moved at least 1 pixel

[Flashcoders] does Flash check for code 304 (not modified) when loading in another swf?

2010-01-21 Thread Andrew Sinning

I'm using AS2 and targeting Flash Player 8.

When a movie loads in another swf (or an image for that matter), does it
check the server to see if there's a newer version? I will often
include a time-stamp as a query-string parameter to prevent loading a
cached version, but what if I want do use the cached version except in
instances where there is a newer version?

Maybe this depends on the browser?
