I can publish the php object.
I think that can't do it with AS.

Do you think there might be any way to do this with js or ideally all
within the Actionscript? I don't know php.

When I do this with Director projects, I read the locality from the
Windows registry.

Hi..Nice tiny app. :P
I compress a video of 20Mb.

  - AVI format
  - size WxH: 480x360px
  - Duration: 00:03:18
  - Sound-128kbps
  - MPEG Layer3
  - Video 30fps

Are you using ffmpeg. :?

I think the pref panel can display if you double-click the drag area.
And/Or In a context-menu of the systray icon.

Re: [Flashcoders] Help Loading and Displaying XML

Your movie should receive or load a URLparameter such as:
mymenu.swf?xml_config_path=
And you don't need to hard-code the uri in the SWF anymore.

Here is a page on Adobe.com about crossdomain.xml:

This is the only legitimate fix for me since my movie is on more than
one page across several directories. Relative paths would not have
worked.

[Flashcoders] Breeze in Acrobat 8 and renamed Adobe Acrobat Connect

Adobe announced Acrobat 8 this morning. The announcement includes Acrobat

Oh, and Breeze is now "the Adobe Connect brand, formerly known as

Missing namespace in your tag. Try:

it has nothing to do with the loadmovie action as I had first thought.

for others who experience similar problems, I will explain how I fixed mine:

the image_mc's I load pjgs into are masked. image_mc were placed at _x = -50
(this I did to center the image in the mask). now, apparantly macs didnt
quite like this. I tried manually moving the image_mc to _x = 0 just for the
heck of it. and now it shows all images.

I guess it turns out that all images were loaded, they just werent shown...
well, that is, some of them were and some of them wont... with no apparant
pattern it seems.

so in short, if you experience the same:

if your image is being loaded into a masked movieclip make sure it is
positioned at _x = 0 (or perhaps with the same _x as the mask) , else it
might perform oddly on macs.

all 60 images now load perfectly, without preloaders, loader classes or
anything.

I thank eric and others that may have answered me and apologize if I have
wasted anyones time.

thanks!

Can you post your code?

I have tried several different preloaders, bokel's loader class, even

does anyone have a guess what might cause the peculiar behaviour?

(dont mind the buttons in the bottom they are not working properly yet).

thank you!

[Flashcoders] setFocus with javascript

2006-03-19 Thread Tolga H. Tatari
I had been searching a solution to flash UI components mouse wheel problem
on swf's longer than the page and that don't fit the browser.

I found a solution like this :

var mouseListener:Object = new Object();
mouseListener.onMouseWheel = function() {
  getURL("javascript:focus(document);");
}
Mouse.addListener(mouseListener);

to give the focus to the html page when the mousewheel moves. IE and firefox
crashes sometimes after i used this code. and the annoying click sound of
IE. I have a little knowledge about javascript. Maybe anybody has a better
solution.

[Flashcoders] scrolling with mousewheel in browsers

2006-03-10 Thread Tolga H. Tatari
Hi all,

I have been working on a project with a lot of UI components of flash 8. My
movie's height is longer than 800 pixels so user must scroll down the page
to see the all content. But with the components on page mousewheel stops
functioning even when the focus is not on the components. i've tried to
disable the mousewheel listener of all components but it didnot help, I've
searched all the web but could not find any solution to this problem but a
lot of questions about this.

I think i've seen a solution to this at macromedia's demo application made
with flex. I dont know much about flex. Are components used in flex
applications different from thr UI components of flash ? or anybody
experienced or find a solution to this problem before ?

thanks,

Tolga

[Flashcoders] Be able to load ONE font face out of FIFTY font faces only when needed?!

2006-02-15 Thread Jack H
Is there a way to load embedded fonts on the fly?
The ways I have found to do this have been
unacceptable thus far.

What I would like to be able to do is as follows:

1) Load a main SWF file with textfields
2) Upon some user interaction, another SWF file is
loaded which contains the embedded fonts for the
particular fontface that the user has selected
3) Once this fontface SWF file completely loads, I can
change the fonts of the existing textfields in the
Main SWF file.

I would like to load the embedded fonts ONLY when the
user has requested them. I have read that placing
shared fonts within the main SWF file will have a
similiar effect, HOWEVER, this will not work within my
parameters, as that would load ALL the fontfaces I'd
like the user to be able to change the textfields to
ALL AT ONCE.

There could be as much as 50 different fontfaces and
I'd like to only load the fontface when I need it
while using a single main SWF file.

Does anyone know if this is at all possible?

Thanks in advance!!

[Flashcoders] setInterval interfering with Sound

2006-01-27 Thread Jack H
Has anyone experienced an interval stopping sounds?

I made a basketball game where I have an interval
which creates random flashes of light on the stage.
When the user misses or gets a ball in, a sound is
initiated, which is totally unrelated to the interval.
Gradually the flashes of light gets faster and faster
-- in other words, I first clear the flash interval
and then reset the interval with a smaller millisecond
value. As this value approaches 1 millisecond (I know,
that's pretty fast), this interval starts interfering
with the sounds, which are unrelated to this interval.
The sounds would be initiated by the user's shooting
of the ball and almost as soon as the sound starts, it
prematurely stops.

What's happening here? Why is this happening?

thanks in advance!

[Flashcoders] AOL not loading JPG files

2005-10-26 Thread Jack H
I've just learned of the problem where the AOL browser
will convert JPG files to ART files and thus not allow
AOL users to see dynamically loaded JPG files in SWF
files. I was wondering what the possible solutions of
this problem are. The ones that I know of are:

1) Have the server admin change the MIME type of the
JPG file
http://www.macromedia.com/go/tn_18671

2) place all dynamically loaded JPG files into SWF
files -- possibly using the img2swf utility to do this
on the fly

Question: are there any other possible solutions that
anyone has heard about?

thanks in advance!
