Re: [Flexradio] USB Adapter Disabling itself for no apparent reason?

I've found this problem with USB connections. I simply unplug the device and
plug it back in then it usually connects. I'll look in to it, I do not know how
to make it more persistant at this time.

Douglas Shock [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: yep...I expect it is mem management
or IRQ issues at this point on my end.
Flex sent me another usb cable and the problem persisted.

On the download section I think there is a utility to help diagnose this
issue but I haven't had time to try it out yet.

I will add, whilst PowerSDR is open and the level set, it remains set,

Tim,

I use a Heil PR-20. It is a good mike and not that expensive. I use
it with a FireBox which has a preamp. I bought a cable from Heil and
put a connector on it that fits the SDR-1000 box and I use a cable
from the SDR-1000 box into the FireBox. That way the PTT on the mike
stand and also on a foot switch work. The mike works well, but needs
some equalizer to sound natural as it is too flat.

Hi Tim, Gerald and all,

That is good advice, but don't forget to check the USB connection on
the set-up window. However, it is irritating that all the small
switching transients coming from the mains power circuits trigger the
USB adapter off.

There is no better help but good grounding of your house mains power
system, and even better in your hamshack for your computer, all
peripherial equipment, the radio itself, of course, and finally the
RF-ground. How to lay out all the grounding cables and points and draw
the signal cables to avoid grounding loops, that is more art than
science. Every location is different, I simply can't give any
suggestions. If you cannot eliminate the transient, you still can
suppress its influence to the sensitive USB circuits.

The apparent reason of your problem is the common mode transient
current that somehow got coupled to your USB cable. You can reduce the
coupled current (and the interference) by increasing the common mode
impedance of the cable. Use ferrite chokes at both ends of the cable.
I use four turns of cable around the center pole of a double E-core
made of grade N27 ferrite.

Re: [Flexradio] Problem with VAC and PwrFlex pgm freezing on loading

With VAC 3.1 (demo) installed on my PC, PowerSDR freezes while loading.
The freeze is at the start-up window at Initializing PortAudio- 5
seconds. If I unintall VAC, then PowerSDR loads and works properly. I'm
using this now with a Creative MP-3+ usb card for use with a Softrock board.
(soon I hope SDR-1000) I have uninstalled and reinstalled the

Using the latest SVN 660, but same issue with the non SVN original version

check.?

PC is Pentium 4, 3.1 GHZ , Windows XP.

[Flexradio] Sound card: M-Audio Delta 44, 66, or 1010?

2006-09-04 Thread Jerry Flanders
I am shopping for a sound card. I see the M-audio series is available
in 4 channel, 6 channel, and 10 channel versions.

Delta 44 (4 channel):
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlistA=detailsQ=sku=196845is=REGaddedTroughType=search

Delta 66 (6 channel):
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlistA=detailsQ=sku=196846is=REGaddedTroughType=search

Delta 1010LT (8 channel):
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlistA=detailsQ=sku=250599is=REGaddedTroughType=search

Not much price difference between them. Would the 6 or 8 channel
version work as well for applications such as the SDR-1000? It might
be nice to have those extra channels available for other processing
needs if there is no downside.

[Flexradio] What is 6M output power of SDR-1000?

2006-09-04 Thread Jerry Flanders
Specs of the rig says: 100 Watt PEP HF, 500mW 6m. Is this correct for
the version with the 100W PA - only 500 milliwatts on 6M?

I see that the accessory PA module is rated at 100W on all HF bands
(50W on 60 meters). I presume this is the same PA module that comes
in the 100W version.

[Flexradio] Anyone know how to debug into the Native code from PowerSDR

2006-09-04 Thread Bill Tracey
This is probably only of interest to the developer types.

Anyone know how to get Visual Studio to debug into native code from the
PowerSDR C# code? I'm trying to run down a bug where PortAudio
initialization resets the Delta 44 sampling rate even when another
soundcard is setup to be used with PowerSDR, I'm sure it's the PortAudio
init doing it -- if I breakpoint the C# code that calls the PorrtAudio
initialization I see the sample rate get changed with the call. Problem is
I've found no way to convince VisualStudio to let me debug into the native
PortAudio code. Anyone know how to do this?

When PortAudio builds its index of devices, hosts, etc., it choose to
run through the devices, hosts, speeds, depth, etc. by setting rather
than assume you are an adult. It is one of its major drawbacks. You
should see how long it takes for PortAudio to initialize on my machine
when I have all my sound stuff hooked up.
