Re: [Flexradio] Question re Direct IQ out from PowerSDR
Hello Everyone I learned something today, so I guess my day is complete again. hihi. This is due to the advice from Ed W2RF, Tim Ellison and the knowledge base article by Mark M0MRR. Thanks to all of them. What I learned is this: Powersdr and CW Skimmer can share the same IQ input from an SDR 1000 in the PC itself. ie Both programs have their setups selecting the same input into my Delta 44 card. Each program functions fine with no hickups. This is amazing to me that two programs can get data from the same sound card input, simultaneously. After so many years of having Windows tell me one port or another is already in use by another program. I guess sound card inputs are not treated like com ports. So the bottom line is this: if you want to use CW Skimmer with an SDR 1000, just set the CW Skimmer inputs to the same input as the one that PowerSDR is using. Set the CAT functions using the standard Vcom setup and all is well. 73 Rick ve3mm On 24-Nov-08, at 8:05 PM, Tim Ellison wrote: There is a Knowledge Center article on how to use CWS with the SDR-1000 http://kc.flex-radio.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50355.aspx -Tim -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ] On Behalf Of Edward Russell Sent: Monday, November 24, 2008 7:41 PM To: 'Richard Stasiak'; 'FireBrick' Cc: 'flexRadio List' Subject: Re: [Flexradio] Question re Direct IQ out from PowerSDR Hi Rick, I didn't get your email and just found this thread. Re: [Flexradio] audio
Stan, Generally you do not make VAC your default sound device. Normally you want the computer and radio separated, just be aware that your computer default sounds will go out over the air when in the digital mode. Also if you use Skype, the mic audio from the computer sound will go out over digital modes.. Personally I keep the computer sounds on separate speakers from the radio speakers. If you want to combine them, you can use some computer speakers that have two inputs. 73, Dudley WA5QPZ Stan wrote: That's what I want to hear Ray. Re: [Flexradio] Flex running on hp2133 netbook
Paul, Good deal on the little laptop.. System resources will be rather tight on that laptop, the panadapter uses alot of HW acceleration which your system will need to make for in SW, and the process does not have much for L2 cache, this is another hit.. You can lower the CPU rate by stopping the Panadapter. Also Laptops have alot of internal monitoring programs going on, so stopping some of these processes might also help, and for sure stopping any network and stop anti -virus protection (Norton is the worse) . The ideal is to get as few processes running in Task Manager, you should be able to get them down to around 35 or so under XP.. W9AD, Dave has a small Sony Vio that you might have seen on our Web site, he just deleted Vista and reloaded with XP, working much better he says... You might even think about a separate HD with XP loaded on it just for operating the radio.. Nothing is wrong with the 1000 VAC support. It is only the Direct I/Q Output to VAC that we are concerned with. I implemented support only in Callback2, which is the 5000 support. Therefore the 1000 is not supported at this time. I haven't looked into whether the 1000 could be supported or not, mainly because I don't have a 1000 and couldn't test the code.
