Scott,

Do not know of another option.. You can keep Vista 64 in Test Mode and you do
not need to use the F8 key at boot up.. He tells you in the VAC Help files..
That is the way I run mine.

I use his item #2 in my computer builds, its the TI chip also. It also
includes a low-profile bracket if you are using that type of case.

Newegg sells them for 21.95 I believe.

[Flexradio] Which Firewire card to buy..

2009-09-19 Thread John Vandenberg
Since I like to buy locally in Canada I was thinking of getting one of
the following cards for my Mobo Asus M2A74-AM. The board has no PCI-E
slot. They don't list what chipset they use, but it may be TI.

Tiger Direct Canada
1. StarTech PCI1394_4 4-Port FireWire PCI Card with Digital Video
Editing Kit$44.99

2. StarTech PCI1394MP PCI FireWire Adapter Card - 4 Port$33.99
3. StarTech PCI1394_2 2-Port FireWire PCI Card with Digital Video
Editing Kit$39.99

What would you recommend.

NOTE:
Firewire Cards Reported *not* to work well with FlexRadio Transceivers:

Re: [Flexradio] F5000 - 1.3.0.6 to 1.3.0.0 upgrade question

2009-09-19 Thread Tim Ellison
Changing firmware rarely has anything at all to do with the calibration of the
radio. That is usually PowerSDR dependent. And if a calibration is necessary,
you will be prompted to do so from PowerSDR.

If you are not upgrading your version of PowerSDR and just upgrading the
firmware, then no calibrations are necessary.

After working with Neal Campbell I was finally able to get VSPD lite (from
him) working and I've found that it has resolved the issue experienced with
Com0COM that caused Ham Radio Deluxe to crash after a few minutes. Thank you
Neal! VSPD lite is available from Neal at a substantial reduction in price
from the full feature product.

Now that Ham Radio Deluxe is working I realize there is a bug in PowerSDR
regarding the ability of the mouse wheel to control frequency.

My mouse wheel works just fine to control the frequency with Ham Radio
Deluxe, but it does not work with PowerSDR. If more info is needed to
analyze this issue feel free to ask me for it.

Thanks to the people who have had the vision to actualize the great flex
radio technology - now, if that vhf/uhf module would be here, (I know,
patience grasshopper)

2009-09-19 Thread Tim Ellison
"I'm waiting on the tool to allow me to unscrew the cover to look but in the
meantime I thought I'd ask the group if there are any thoughts about this."

I use a small screw driver as opposed to the Torx driver.

Make sure the ribbon cable is attached to the HRFIO board and the mini coax
connectors are connected to the proper inputs. Use both of these documents to
verify the cable routing
http://support.flex-radio.com/Downloads.aspx?id=240
http://support.flex-radio.com/Downloads.aspx?id=220

Also make VERY certain that the mini coax connectors are seated properly. They
can be a bit of a challenge to get properly seated because of their very small
size. You have to "feel" the snap.

If the cable are routed properly and you have done a database reset, but you
are still having problems, contact Dudley with FlexRadio Support so he can do
some additional diagnostics on the HRFIO board.
